Struggling with Okayama. Very different type of track compared to the last one. My SR has taken quite a hit! I did manage to post a 1:49 something last night in a race but calling myself inconsistent is a bit of an understatement.

Just racked up my third win in the Mazda driving loving it. The strength of field seems to go up every time (1399 last time out) and I keep managing to be right at the front - SR 3.85 now, looking forward to cracking Class D tomorrow so I can actually see my iRating progress!

I've noticed that many people's race paces are slower than their qualifying, whereas I actually set a new PB that race (1'50.3) and my whole race average, including a 1'53 first lap, was 1'51.1 biggrin the tyres seem to cope with full-bore for all ten laps.

ETA - Did one more after this, cracking race it was too, Carlos was within a second the whole race and slowly, oh so slowly reeling me in and I really thought he'd get me.

But did my safety rating have to stop there?! hehe

Had a great race last night. Started 2nd, lost it when some shunted me and then someone else spun in front (giving me a 4) dropped right down the field then worked my way back up by basically being consistent. Three of us, 4/5/6 with me in the middle and gaining with 2 laps to go overcooked the third left hander in the centre section and finished 6th. Annoyed was not the word.
Still it was a result finishing on the same lap as the winner and much more exciting actually hauling someone in lap by lap.

Cheers Rob! Circuit must suit me, I've won three of four there and was actually likely to win the first one too, but P2 got a little bolshie, shunted me in braking zones twice and then actually managed a PIT while alongside on the straight irked.. No matter, I saw afterwards he's a 100+ race rookie at SR of 1.8!

Done that too, Bullett. It's great getting closer and closer as you go, the F3 live relative timing is great for that as you can even see which corners you're doing it nerd but God do you have to keep yourself calm when you're in firing range in the final laps!

How do you do that?
Also how can I turn the FPS monitor off? I thought I saw an option in the settings but can't find it now.

Do you uses delta timing at the top of the screen. Best way to see where your losing/making time
Ooh, no, that would be good. I'd love to be able to set my own split marks on the fly, too, comparing to previous quali laps or whatever.

Bullett, most of them are keyboard shortcuts, that one's F smile

Just got made up to Class D, and it turns out my iRating is 1702. No idea if this is good or not but it's rising, so woohoo

Won my first race at Okayama last night wahey!

Anyone else on here use Ispeed? For those that don’t, it’s a free program which provides live timings, sector bests etc and actually tells you your lap times and position through your speakers each lap as you cross the finish line. It also has a lap analyser which logs your telemetry with graphs so you can examine your laps, breaking points, acceleration points etc after each race. I use two monitors so I just shove ispeed on my second monitor as I’m racing.

Also found an app called DashMeterPro for android. It’s about a fiver to buy from the Play store but it’s excellent for those with only one monitor. It connects via wifi and acts as a heads up display for iracing. It displays rev limiter, gear, speed, section bests, current lap time, fuel etc. It’s a very useful tool.

Would certainly recommend both. smile

Agreed.

I have iSpeed on 2nd monitor and dash meter pro running on tablet and phone.

Am on the pre order list for the TSS G27 pedal upgrade. Hopefully end of this month. Am so excited I could wet myself!

Tab switches on the split timings.

Most agree it's useful in practice but a distraction in race.

McSam, 1700+ is very good, well done. I've been on about 9 months and average aroud 1300-1500.
You should get put into fairly good splits with that irating.

Seriously, get yourself into a Skippy or a Mclaren. The Skippy is open wheel with 6 setup options, the McLaren is, well a McLaren with a whole host of set up options.

Choose your poison!

Thanks Rick! I'm definitely going to try this split timer out, I wouldn't use it in the race either because it'll either distract me or tempt me into pushing too hard.

Very kind, I'm happy with performance so far and do seem to be getting better racers. It's nice to have someone decent to chat to about how good the race was afterwards, and most seem to be gentlemen.

The McLaren tempts me greatly. I am liking fixed setup for now, though, while I do know my way around chassis setup I'm quite happy having a totally level playing field to find my feet on - would be great if there was a Class D MX-5 series with fixed setup! As it is, I think I'll do a full season in inRacingNews next, probably dipping into the Grand Touring Cup when circuits suit as well.

Then buying enough circuits to do eight or ten weeks in Grand Touring after that, sticking in the MX-5, seems good. Then McLaren time smile though, looking ahead, it seems the McLaren isn't used in anything at Class B, but the 'Vette is used at C and B. Maybe I should get one of those instead. Or both hehe

The skippy is a good route to the McLaren as the season shares some good tracks, so you buy a few now and a few next season.
I find the skippy much more of a challenge than the mx5, plus its more rewarding. Although it sounds like already you are in good splits so stand less chance of being the scrappy mx5 races.

LOL!

There is some offers if you read through.

10% and 20% on bulk buy content.
Think you also get some credits when you complete a full season (but doesn't apply to rookie).

Well worth buying an annual subscription when they do a 50% off offer.

I'll have a closer look at the Skippy after this season, you can run two series in parallel, can't you? Depends how well the Mazda responds to setup change, really, sure I could keep myself interested playing around with it for another season at least smile not in a big rush.

Definitely intend to get the half price year's membership, that makes it cheaper than a PS3 game that I'd likely never get a year's use out of smile where do they publicise those offers?

Bulk discounts are good too but I don't think I can stomach $150 on circuits all in one go, even to save a tenner!

The Star Mazda gives some good racing, fun car to drive. McLaren is easy to drive fairly quick compared to the Vette!

Cheers mate biggrin

I'm sure it won't be long before you're overtaking me. If you fancy a race or two feel free to add me.

I am really enjoying Iracing but I am feeling myself missing the progression you get in most 'games'. I'm very used to completing races/tasks in order to unlock a new track or car or money etc. It's quite a change of pace compared to what I'm used to. I'm sure I will get used to it though.

What's the general concensus for moving up from Rookie then? I'm very tempted to pull the trigger on a new car to get some practice in before the promotion date but not sure what to go for. The skippy seems a popular choice as does the Mazda and the Mclaren.

I made my choice based on tracks. I looked at a typical season of the McL and lotus include and worked back from there. I want to end up with tracks I like e.g Spa, Suzuka plus the UK tracks. This lead me down the skippy route, I picked that up plus two tracks so I got a discount in buying three items.
