Bragging rights only - non steam guys get bonus credits for just completing a fully season though $4 in D class and $7 in higher to a max of $10 per season.
Check the sporting code as that describes how points work. In summary you get the best result from the first 4 races in a week. 5-8 and it's the average of the best 2 etc.

It's a nice car, the Star Mazda.
First couple of races in along time this week, back in the Skippy. Top split in the first race, had a good race long battle with a another guy at the back, middle split and a changed setup for the second race resulted in a pits to second, pleased with that. Need to get back to more regular racing for the cash back!
But yes, bragging rights only, but good sense of personal achievement are the 'prizes'.

Do the championship points count for anything? Or is it more a bragging rights thing? I need to read up on all the regs, as someone who does 10 races in a week with mid pack points is bound to beat a person who wins once a week in thier only race? Off to research.
You can win a cash prize in certain situations IIRC, but the points system does work pretty well. Points are given based on the strength of field, how many races you've done that week and an average of your x best results.Bullett said:
That's a good deal.
There are some extremely fast guys in the Skippy. A season is 12 weeks but you only your 8 best week's count so you can build it up over time. Lot's of people do that and keep at it in the lower divisions as well.
I don't do ovals at all, they are separate licenses.
+1 for the Skip Barber. I sorta skipped that and the SRF only running a few weeks in the Skippy, and now I'm in Blancpain Sprint wondering if I should have spent a full season in something lower down the chain. There are some extremely fast guys in the Skippy. Well, I seem to have broken it. If I try and play it says service not in use, which I think is the IRacingService file (black pop up at start up) not working. I have filed a ticket with support but they are just copy and pasting info from the FAQs. Anyone else had this?
Edit: forgot to say, I have uninstalled and re-installed (through steam), restarted pc and cleared browser but no difference. I have also put the file path on the 'safe' list for my antivirus.
Another Edit: In case anyone else ever has this, manually running programfiles/iRacing/Start_iRacingService.bat and a clean install fixes it.

Managed to get out of rookies in 3 races on road, and 5 on oval. Currently trying to auto-promote to C licence. Currently racing skip barbers for road, and once promoted to C, will race trucks for oval.
I have a bit of a problem.
I keep getting into the top split in the Star Mazda (by the skin of my teeth) and being completely outclassed. I had a nearly 2000 irating at the start of the season and I'm down to 1800 odd now. I'm not that fast I just tend to pick up points by being consistent and not crashing. Annoying.
I don't see where the 5k+ guys go after the first lap.
I suppose it will level out.

Been there! It's one of the problems with the rating system, but dropping into some races at slightly different times might help.I keep getting into the top split in the Star Mazda (by the skin of my teeth) and being completely outclassed. Not trolling or taking the P, just frustrated and trying for a number of hours to get the wheel to work well, and failing. The smilely was to say that it's not totally bad, just not as good as I expected.
G27, tried various settings and if someone has advice will give it a go.
Set up in lfs is great, car feels alive, but in iracing it's dead, no delicacy, can't feel onset of understeer or weight transfer (also why does the mx5 wheel only turn 90 deg each way?)
Done a bit of googling and tried suggested settings, and while the ffb is definitely there, it's quality is poor. For example, when you spin, it moves as the castor pulls it, but only in a gross way. In lfs, you can even feel the effect of large amounts of camber in a stationary car when you turn the wheel, in iracing, it just feels like programmed steering weight, no 'feel'.
Feel a bit cheated,

A lot of people on iRacing rate the G27, and a bunch of the pro drivers use them. I don't have one but try turning up "min force" on FFB settings to 5.0G27, tried various settings and if someone has advice will give it a go.

Ok, here are the links that I was on about.
On how to get the best from FFB:
http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/20237...
Wheel Check software (reads directly from wheel and runs tests to make sure it's within tolerances and what not):
http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/32604...
How to set FOV (actually quite important in iracing it seems):
http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/32808...
How to get most bang for buck:
http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/32489...
One other thing about iracing - find the setting that removes the hands from the wheel in the cockpit view. You will find the wheel on screen then maps directly to what you're doing with yours instead of turning 2/5 of your input. I found it very jarring and confusing when the wheel on-screen didn't do exactly what I was doing. You should actually do this with every racing sim.
