Has anyone tried Simraceway? In lieu of an iRacing demo it's my favourite of the moment.
Free to d/l and try (free to play model)
Good selection of cars (1 free but others vary in price from cheap to expensive)
and tracks(all free/included) Laguna/Silverstone/Daytona etc.
community seems pretty good
lots of engagement with the devs
Looks pretty nice
Driving physics seem pretty good to me.
Racing has been pretty clean so far. A few accidents but it's been good natured rather than deliberate. I also like the fact you can earn credits for clean laps and credits can go towards buying more cars. There are also free to enter hot lap type competitions with cash prizes. Good numbers online so always a race available or the challenges.
It's still in beta so a bit rough around the edges and lacking a few features (no private races that I can find).

Hunting for something immersive, gritty and realistic - proper tyre and damage models, real sounds, not the clinical GT5 rubbish. Funds aren't abundant but it looks like you guys have a lot of fun with the basic package so hopefully not much of an issue.
Cheers all!
Racing standards outside the Rookie series are usually very good, the most issues seem to come from multi class racing when the faster cars interrupt a battle with GT cars. Much like real racing I guess! IMO the sounds in iRacing are as good as they get and they are on a mission to perfect the tyre model. Its not there yet but the feel is very good. Hopefully one day they will finally release the Lotus 49!Cheers all!
Not a fan of Simraceway, its just rFactor with paid for mods and hardly anyone on the servers.
I've had a go at setting it up but not sure it's correct, esp the start time.

Alas, i cannot do Friday evening, but if there are any other nights then count me in.
I am really enjoying it, my rating took a hammering with a pitt manouver on the straight at Laguna as i got better drive than 1st and 2nd places coming off the final turn and went between the middle of them. Got a tap and off heavily in to the barrier, drove round to the pits with huge damage so incured some points!
Got a consistent 1.45 and can push for 1.44's now on Laguna.
The turn 5/6 kink is tricky, i dab the brake, but turn in with power to slide it gently but avoid hitting the opposit kerb as that will spin you, feather the throttle if you are heading wide.

Is there any way to try this out? I've been mucking around with many of the sim racers (Net KarPro, RRRE, Simraceway, LFS) I haven't tried iracing as there was no way to demo it without giving them money.
https://cadillaccupracing.com/ will give a 3 month free trialJust need to fiddle around a bit with the controls but very impressed so far.
Bump for tonight

I will do some practice with you guys, it's always fun to hotlap.
You could make it an open session but just keep an eye out for wreckers, they can come out of the woodwork in non-official sessions.
Might be an idea to make sure you know how to boot players that are a problem. I'm sure we will let you know if we see any.
