The links Tonsko posted above are helpful, but I remember spending an age working out how to get the best from my FFB and there didn't appear to be all the info available in one place. The wheel check software is pretty useful but a bit complicated.

From my experience, here is what I suggest for the G27:

Wheel software:
Overall Effects Strength: 100%
Spring Effect Strength: 0%
Damper Effect Strength: 100%
Centering Spring: Unchecked
Report Combined Pedals: Unchecked
Rotation: 900°
Allow Game To Adjust: Checked

iRacing settings:
Linear - unchecked (this is designed for much stronger wheels)
Dampen oscillations: may as well check
Strength - dependant on track. You wont experience clipping (where the FFB hits the wheels max force so you feel no further detail) on non-linear mode, the FFB far will turn orange instead, but try to adjust so you're not getting too much orange.
Damping: I've always used 0%, but apparently some people like this at 10-15%.
Min force: try 15%. Each wheel slightly different, but I used a G25 (basically same internals as G27) for a time and mine was 15%. The suggestion is to move it 5% at a time until it feels good to you.

Yeah, I am. Not played much recently, went back to MX5's but lacking in time and the fact the boy wonder has taken over my games room.

I've paid for a year, I should play!

Lots of us still going. Try this group for a bit of time trial fun.

https://www.stoopidchallenges.com/

He set it up a few years ago after a few of us came round to mine on a Friday night and he set up a small site. He got his teeth stuck into it and it grew from there. Free to join and use so not a commercial project.

Well done!

Get up a couple of classes on safety rating and the racing really becomes exciting and even more challenging.

Haven't touched my rig for months but did do a few hotlaps of the ring in the RSR yesterday, fantastic.

Cheers yeh plan to get all licences up to d then progress from there. More likely ovals and road for myself.

Done 4 oval races yesterday started in top 3 on all of them and won 1. 4th on other then disaster in other 2 when some either decides to wipe you out or gets too impatient but that's part of it.

Did set a stonking lap time tho that not seen anyone come close to so feel happy with that

I've been iRacing since 2016. The best racing sim out there in my opinion.

Last year I upgraded my rig from a desk-logitech setup to a Simetik rig with Fanatec Clubsport wheel. Oculus VR due to lack of space for triple screens.

I set up a Top Gear style 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' time trial for guests to have a go on. Porsche 718 GT4 at Brand Hatch Indy.

Enjoying the Formula Vee at the moment. Fun little car.
After a slow start managed 2 wins in my last two races.

Will stick with it and start looking at the Skippy and 2.0 Renault.

Where do you get set ups from? I can't be bothered to learn, I prefer to just drive.

Regarding Set-ups, the baseline set-ups have improved a lot recently, unless you want to use a paid service like VRS or Pure Driving School, people sometimes post set-ups on the iRacing forums.

If you are just driving the Vee or the Skippy then the set-ups are pretty easy to change yourself. From memory all you can adjust in the Skippy is tyre pressure, ride-height, brake bias and the rear anti-roll bar. I think I've used the same Skip Barber set-up for over 3 years.

But it is worthwhile experimenting with the different settings so you can make minor adjustments. I remember once struggling for balance in the Formula Renault 2.0 and one click of front wing transformed the handling for me, and once in the Lambo GT3 a small change to the diff helped me find a lot of confidence in the car.

The guy who made the iRacing setups spent a lot of time on them. Someone did a study of them compared to paid setups and the default ones where the fastest with some car and track combos.

If you have Amazon Prime, then you can get Craigs Setup Shop (CSS) for free. I use them plus VRS, and CSS is often the best for me.

Vee is fixed anyway.

I do have prime. I can't see an option to get them via that. The site seems to indicate you need to sub direct or via twitch.

If you have Prime, then you automatically have a twitch prime acount. JUst subsribe to his channel via prime. Need a discord account to get it to work also I believe.
