Signed up for beta, no word yet though, looks like it will be rolled out to US and Canada first.
I wonder if the account gold and suchlike will be tranferable? Or if they will go with the same system of micro-transactions for upgrades.
I'd imagine it's going to be completely seperate and based on microsoft points for the micro payments.

I got the Beta, was looking forward to it after everyone was playing it so much but I can't see what all the fuss was about. Had 2 games and not touched it since?

It's easy when you get used to it. When you use your tank you'll see you earn stars. You also earn (and are given in the beta) gold. You then also earn credits.

Gold and credits buy things, stars are research points. You can use them to research new things for your tank or to progress up the tank tree buying new tanks.

To upgrade, click on your tank and then config. You'll see 4/5 boxes and the first with a massive green tick. That's your current load out. Go across the boxes to check what each upgrade does. You then research and buy the upgrades in turn. You'll also see in the top right the next tank up the tierr, one of the upgrades along the middle will correlate to that tank. I.e. when you hover on that upgrade it'll highlight that tank. This is the upgrade you need to unlock the next tank.

Once you unlock the tank you then need to go to the tech tree and research / buy that tank.

You can convert gold into cash which is handy.

Once you get the hang of it you'll fly through. It does appear needlessly complicated. IMO it should automatically see you get to a stage and unlock things + it should only have one currency not 3. Gold will come into use when it goes pay per view though.

Only other thing is that you should use your gold to buy repair kits for you tank.

Get'it now? smile

Thanks Graham, will give it another go. I only have that little tank, will persevere this weekend if the weather stays the way it is today.

Downloading it now from xbox dashboard , 75ish mb download then a massive in game download, doesn't say how big but after 10min it's a third done, and it only took me 5 min to get the first download.

I've been playing this a bit, it's really addictive, I've posted about my experiences so far in the other WoT thread. When it's good, it's amazing and you feel like the don, when its bad it's infuriating. There is an lot of depth though, it's no cookie cutter shooter.

Yeah it was a bit cheeky to offer the game as a 70mb download, and then have to download all that extra ste when you get into it.

Well, the game just crashed as I was in a queue to start a match, so I rebooted my xbox and now I can't select any tanks from the garage screen as it is now saying "You account is locked". I would have happily paid for this as a full price release if these sort of bullst niggles were ironed out!
