Game is charging people to have a try of the Playstation version:

And people are up in arms about it. Well, don't pay Game then. Why is that difficult to work out ?

Maybe they don't have accident insurance cover - (big gif) - https://i.imgur.com/Szpj4da.gifvhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37751428

To be fair it's only a fiver, I wouldn't mind paying that to see if I liked it before shelling out £400. In fact I might see if my local store are doing it so I can have a go at the weekend.
But you don't do that anywhere else.If I went into a Hi-Fi shop and said "I want to have a listen to xyz" and they said "Fine, that will be five pounds sir" then my reply would be "Shuve it up your arse" and I'd walk out !
But having said that,I can see a bunch of kids turning up to Game and playing on the thing all day, with absolutely no intention of buying one. So in that respect I can see their point.
Yep different clientele for someone shopping for audio equipment and this. Whenever I've been in a Game, I see kids playing on the consoles ALL the time. If they had a VR demo you'd never get a go so the fiver should prevent that.
However personally if I were Sony I'd have sent a few hundred kits out and set up a proper booth in as many games shops and shopping centres as possible. A touring demo of a few locations really isn't enough IMO. I know quite a few people who don't even know it's out yet or even if they do they want to give it a go first to see what all the fuss is about. Get it out in the wild and into the hands of people, get people to try VR and the buzz it will generate would have been worth many times the marketing\PR outlay. A bit of an own goal by Sony I think.

I suppose it shows just how much that chap thought he was actually climbing.Got mine yesterday after slumming it with the DK2 for a couple of years. I was going to wait for CV2 but at £399 with the touch controllers thought it would be worth it and wasn't disappointed. The quality of the image is a lot better with greatly reduced SDE and the touch controllers are a joy to use.

Agreed. Never tried the DK but loving the CV and so little SDE you don't notice it at all after a minute or two.Shadow R1 said:

Elite dangerous is brilliant with it.
Robo recall is very good from the free games that you get.
I've mostly been playing racing games Project Cars and Assetto Corsa, ETS2 for sts n giggles, but I've had a first proper go on Elite Dangerous tonight and just wow! the controls are complex but holy cow it's good....Elite dangerous is brilliant with it.

Edit: I just remembered why i stopped playing flight/space sim games...I can't dogfight for st, I can't even complete the combat training missions...
I'm so bad it's laughable.

Lone Echo, Robo Recall, The Climb. Any racing/flight/space sim. Assetto Corsa, Elite and DCS are particularly good. Also, Dirt Rally.
I guess you play DCS with a proper HOTAS setup? I tried it and found it impossible, had to keep lifting the Rift off to see the keyboard.8bit said:

Similar issue with Elite, you can get some cheap software called VoiceAttack that works with Elite, not sure if it will work with DCS too. It allows you to assign voice commands rather than finding the keyboard.born2bslow said:

Yeah it should work with anything as it just runs in the background. OK thanks. I use an Xbox 360 controller currently for Elite, I can get pretty much all the controls I use mapped onto that, DCS has a lot more controls though. I tend to only play games at night once the wife and kids are asleep so I use headphones, don't want to be shouting at the PC to play...
Not sure if this has been mentioned here before but I downloaded 'Affected - The Manor' a couple of days ago. For a fiver its excellent, I don't get on with the racing games as they make me dizzy but stuff like this is what the Oculus is all about.
