I've just read the weather post on this thread and searched for 'weather driveclub' on 'youtube'. The game looks amazing, the weather effects are better than 'Forza Horizon 2' and 'Project Cars'.
Shame as it's an arcade racing game I may never play it, but I'm impressed.
It is jaw droppingly good on the visuals - I might just buy it for that - best looking car game I've ever seen - even better looking than project cars methinks.Shame as it's an arcade racing game I may never play it, but I'm impressed.
Well I decided to give it a whirl. It *is* very pretty to look at, and yes it is quite "arcade racerish" when compared to Forza, but by no means is it akin to games like Ridge Racer. You can feel the difference between various cars, even if at times they do seem to have supernatural levels of grip and braking ability. You can still get it badly wrong on track though and you do get punished if you make big errors.
The thing is with Forza, if you tune and upgrade your car well, then you have a distinct performance advantage over the AI competition and most races end up being so easy that you end up winning by a country mile. The arcade style of Driveclub seems to keep the racing pretty close, though I'm still very early on in the game so maybe as I get further on this will change. It's a double edged sword of course as it can lead to frustration losing a race on the last corner, but I've not felt hard done by in the game so far. The AI isn't perfect, but on the whole it's a damn sight better than some online racers I have raced with on Forza.
It's a fun game that you can pick up and play without agonising about things like camber angles or braking bias, but it still feels 'real' enough for me for a quick hit of racing. The bottom line for me is that it is enough fun to convince me to keep the game. It desperately needs a replay feature though, I really miss being able to watch a particularly exciting race back.

At just over £20 on amazon thought I'd give it a go until Project Cars arrives.
Now some of you will know I was a real hard core racer / tuner on Forza so this is my 1st driver on PS for a very long time. No comparison to Forza for driving 'experience' but still a long way from being arcadey, enjoying it so far, only raced a couple of tracks. Only big gripe is inconsistency in grip, one bend massive understeer next one so much grip that you can hang it around the outside of the pack balls out.

Just under 20 for a brand new game so I've pulled the trigger, I'll be asking for club invites soon if that's ok.

Had a quick play with pad, I'll use wheel next time, but to be honest I thought it was really good, no where near as arcade as I expected, ie ridge racer or nfs. Will have a few more goes until the weekend when I can have a long session but so far I like it, anyone mind me joining a club? Laam999 is my psn name :-)
I've been playing this on my vita remote play of late and have to say it is the most playable game I've tried so far using the ps4 feature, all the shoot em ups are way too small for screen.
Also is anyone actually doing the new community challenges as much room for improvement attempts have netted me 60,000pts so far finishing in top 100 in the world apparently.

I'm already in a full club (club sizes are very small).I'll send you a FR on PSN though
Got this delivered yesterday and had an hour on it with a controller as I'm going to buy a t300 wheel for when project cars comes out.
Graphics wise I'm really impressed it almost looks like a video of a real car and scenery when you are playing.
The cars do handle differently and its really good fun!
Had a blast on multiplayer it it was really good too.
Must be so much better with axwheel though!
Well worth £20!

I played about an hour last night with my t300rs and I have to say, I think I enjoy it more with a pad, the force feedback doesn't make me feel like I'm driving the car, they seemed remarkably floaty to drive and it was rather strange. Maybe I'll get used to it but I've used the wheel on ps3 with gt6, gt6 and f1 2014 and this just doesn't feel right to me, that and they won't shift gears all the time, sometimes it will only drop one gear when I want 3, etc.

Wow, that track looks exceptional. Love the snow covered trees at night.laam999 said:

Interesting comments, I have been really enjoying Driveclub so much so i was considering getting a wheel (despite saying i wouldn't as I own a G27 and am waiting for it to be compatible )as racing games a are always better with one, could it need configuring?Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
