Christmas morning. New PS4.

Console set up in advance. Unpacked and working well. 2 steering wheels unboxed and setup. All looking good.

FFS - Drive Club wants (no insists) on downloading a 12Gb update file. You have got be kidding.

Maybe my kids will be happy to wait until tomorrow to play with their new PS4.....?

Is there any way to avoid this? Any help gratefully received!

At a guess you could disconnect from the Internet. Game will surely run with just what's on the disc?

On the main ps4 screen click up, scroll all the way to the left to notifications, press X, go down to downloads and you pause/start game downloads as you wish.

Is there a PH driveclub club?

Although this game isn't as serious as Project cars, it is in my opion more fun to play.

Looking forward to the VR version of this, should be really immersive!

I have both this and Project Cars - both are epic in their own ways, but as said above DC literally kills it on the competitive front. The challenge system works flawlessly and is much much better than Project Cars, just wish it implemented the same system and leaderboard as DC :-(

Have literally spent 2 hours of sweaty palms before trying to beat a hotlap before the challenge expired - it's like crack!

Well up for a weekly challenge for whoever is up for it

having read through this I thought I'd sign up for PSN+ and download DC. New to PSN so would be good to get into a PH club? Although I see this question has been asked many times!

Oh well only 9 hours until it downloads, should prob go to sleep and play it in the morning!

ps name is squarepant555490 feel free to add smile

First thoughts on DC. Lots of fun! The challenges are really engaging, the physics seem to strike a good balance between reality and a slight arcade feel. GT5 may have been more 'real' but I found that boring for the most part. DC seems to have got it about right (depending on your outlook of course)

I'd like to have a little more - steering feel. Sounds strange; especially as I'm using a control pad but there doesn't seem to be much feedback at the limit. Also there doesn't seem to be a modifications/setup menu like Gran Tursimo. I can't/haven't found the menu where I can adjust camber angles/replace turbos/select different tyres etc. Maybe DC doesn't offer this?

As always I'd like to see more 'ordinary' cars, The hot hatch cars are good, the Clio 200 being a favorite but I've got little interest in driving all the Lambos/Ferraris etc. Give me a mk2 escort or e36/46 m3 anytime! The buggy from Motorstorm is a hoot.

That aside, really enjoying it. Hopefully get on some online PH clubs soon

I did the same, got it for xmas. Am liking th balance of arcade and driving sim ratio too.

Am thinking of getting a wheel / pedals set up, any recommendations? I can budget for the upper end of the scale.

Feel free to add me too - mcrdave

If you have a PS4 I can recommend the Thrustmaster T300RS - its really good.

Works like a dream with Project Cars too!

Ebayed and purchased and will collect tomorrow. Cleverly combining it with a visit to my sister in Shorpe where the Thrustmaster is too conveniently. Will report back tomorrow after the road trip.

I'm back! Ok, i was back about 2.30pm but guess what I've been doing...

Well I've been playing with it haven't I. It's so good. Like chalk and cheese compared to a controller. Brings the game to life and before you know it you're doing lap after lap trying to beat your best time (well I was anyway). The feedback is great, really weighty. Can't see how you can get much better. I turned off 'wheel assist' in the settings and that seems to make it steer 'cleaner'. It came with the wheel stand pro so the set up bang on right now, just wish I wasn't back to work tomorrow frown

Any questions, just ask.

So since there's now been a 'hardcore handling' update for this game, people say it's probably about 70% realism now, if you put Project Cars at 100%. So in my mind, that's a good enough balance between challenge and fun to arrange a tournament. Would anyone be interested?

Idea would be to run all 5 categories over 5 weeks, with 30-minute races, all on the India tracks to make it accessible to the people who have the PSPlus version, and probably locked to those car classes as well. Anyone up for this?

Anyone fancy helping me get the platinum on this please?
Just platinumed Driveclub bikes and only need a couple on drive club.

Specifically 1,000,000 drift points(currently grinding...) and the trophy for winning 5 challenges.

So I need to create and play 5 challenges and sent them to someone, I need that someone to play the challenges I send them but not beat my time/score so I 'win'.

I have some people on here on my friends list already, my PSN id is furball1i9a8n6

Add me or message me on PSN if i'm already on your list. Will happily help out with a trophy in return if needed, possibly the same trophy!

Ta,

Furball.
