The LMGs are crap, have been trying to unlock more with them but they are just bad, you have to fire so many bulllets if you have a look at my accuracy with all my guns the lmgs bring it right own, maybe they will get better.
Well they are designed for laying down a carpet of suppressive fire and not pinpoint accuracy.
That's all well and good but that never works in an FPS.. No fear of death. You need to be able to kill with them.
Well it does work doesn't it? There's the whole suppression ability where anyone who tries to fire back finds their accuracy goes to pot, screen goes fuzzy and their ability to contribute anything meaningful to the battle is greatly reduced. Great if you're trying to defend a flag or an MCOM. Granted it's not much use if you're playing Team Deathmatch, but who buys Battlefield to play TDM?
True, I don't know the details on suppression in BF4 but I heard its been dialled back in BF4, so would make suppression even more pointless. The only way it would really be effective was if it was to limit a players movement (such as not being able to move around a corner that was being suppressed). This would just slow the game down too much though.

The suppression has been toned down a lot for the Assault and Engineer classes, to make the LMGs even more useful. Previously you'd get the same effect for all the classes and it reduced the need for the Support class to lay down suppressive fire if everyone could do it with their assault rifles and carbines.

As for what it does, this is from the wiki:

While suppressed, a soldier's vision will blur and lose focus, he will call out for help, experience noticeably large increase of scope sway and hip fire spread, a substantial increase in recoil and bullet spread. Suppression cancels any automatic health regeneration, but not recovery due to a nearby medkit

Fair enough.

Don't know what that gun is Guv?
I think it's one of the first recon unlocks but once you get it, you can use it across all classes. Not tried it myself but it's a semi-auto sniper rifle which people seem to be using as an assault rifle with a short range scope. I'm assuming it's high damage and decent at short and medium range as I seem to get killed by that gun more than most.

I've heard there's a glitch with shotguns - that each pellet does the damage of a bullet, so they're glitched (much like the old M26 DART was for a while in BF3)?
There may well be a shotgun or combination of attachments that does that but I have yet to encounter it. My latest thing in BF3 was the DAO-12 with slugs, you can really piss people off with those, and I think that has prepared me nicely for shotgunning in BF4 biggrin

The way suppression seems to work in BF4 is that the entire screen shakes around and your aiming reticule is all over the place.

In my experience at least, it's more effective in BF4 than BF3 as you have no idea what the hell is going on when you're being shot at - it's almost impossible to shoot back.

In BF3 it seemed like the person who shot first won the 1 on 1 most of the time, even if you're first few shots weren't bang on target. Same thing doesn't seem to work in BF4 - seems shots on target have more of an effect.

The RFB is a great gun when equipped with a 4x scope - takes 3 or 4 hits to kill usually, but is very accurate over short to mid ranges.

I didn't realise you could use it with any kit - I'll equip it to help me level up the support class, which seems really weak in BF4?

Don't quote me on the RFB thing but I am pretty sure it's a universal unlock

As for the support class, yes massively agree it's a bit pants. The LMG's are woeful and it seems to take ages to score any real points with that class. I can see me taking a long time to level that one up.

RFB's are indeed universal unlocks but do need to be unlocked via the Recon kit. Re support kit, carbines are your friend. At 7.62mm I am particularly liking the ACE 52 CQB smile

Tiss pants with lmgs....but I have had great success with carbines and C4!!! C4 and claymores are avialable to support and recon.

I've been having fun with the claymores too - although it's quite limited with only one. Should be interesting when I finally unlock the perks that allow you to put down 3 claymores at once - that should stop those run and gun flanking bar stewards in their tracks on Operation locker.

I rarely come across others using them though?

In theory, if your entire team start as support, drop their 3 claymores and then stay as support (but change equipment to something other than claymores) you could have 36 claymores knocking around for the entire game/until someone triggers one!

ETA: Also, weren't we promised 32 player on the PS3/Xbox360? I've only seen 12 so far (+ 2 commanders)?

Apologies, I meant 12 per team, so 24, plus two commanders = 26.

Yep I've only noticed 12 per team when I would have expected at least 16. Some of the maps are too big for 12v12 which can make them feel unpopulated. The cynical part of me would say they've done this to make a bigger distinction between this and the PS4 version.

Agreed.

Along with some of the PS3 graphics to me don't look as good as BF3 - so I suspect that is for the same reason.

Thanks matt. Ordered, looks like my Amazon Pre-order might not be here for launch. If it does I might have a console for the Cinema and the living room!
