Battlefield 4 (PS4)
Discussion
I've just googled it (I keep forgetting that Google is your friend ) and it seems you have to be either at the flight ceiling or very low to the ground so it's even less use than it was before. I used to love hovering when someone in a non F35 was tailing you then they fly past for you to take them down.

The best way to rack up jet ribbons is use the attack jet to destroy the AC130 gunship. 1-3 kills each time and it respawns immediately. You're normally so high that the AA can't get you and the other jets don't see you.
Didn't even think about that! Still, at least I'm now averagely competent in a dogfight.
Any tips on UCAV kills - it seems very variable with me - sometimes I stick it between a group of two snipers and kill them both, others I stick it at someone's feet and I don't even get a hit marker?

Ok, who did I kill with the hovercraft? Didn't realise it was a PHer until it was already too late.
Didn't lose a single game of carrier assault last night. Great game mode.
I'm not convinced by Carrier Assault - seems like a good idea, a nice mix of Rush and Conquest, but you can often find yourself stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere with no transport when all of the action suddenly switches to the carriers. Didn't lose a single game of carrier assault last night. Great game mode.
Also, the ever present lag/rubber banding really takes the edge off - and that's after being used to months of rubber banding. I reckon that anyone coming fresh from BF3 to BF4 Carrier Assault would find it unplayable.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that DICE get it sorted out as promised.
Have been persevering with the UCAV in the meantime, now up to 13 kills. Sounds like it was very useful before the nerf. Now it's just a gimmick, the reload time (90 seconds) makes it basically a one shot deal and not only is it difficult to get it on track to your intended target, but it's also nowhere near powerful enough on that one shot.
I seriously doubt I'll ever use it after I've finished the assignment. Same with the SUAV, which is even less useful.

Pilchard and Lemmings were complaining about this yesterday. It was smooth as anything for me, with very slight frame rate drop replacing rubber banding, which I can live with. Let's keep our fingers crossed that DICE get it sorted out as promised.

The UCAV is pointless but I'll not have a bad word said against the SUAV. I love that bloody thing, its great for roadkills. I seriously doubt I'll ever use it after I've finished the assignment. Same with the SUAV, which is even less useful.

You can't be serious - it's the most gimmicky weapon in the game?! It's a one shot wonder though, so you use it once and then that's it until you die or find someone who'll drop ammo.
It also takes a slot away from more useful kit (C4, Motion Sensor, Claymore, Spawn Beacon, MAV).
Hold on a second - can you put C4 on a SUAV?

<moan> Joined you guys last night in an effort to complete the 'Swiss Cheese' assignment and unlock the AWS. The LMG's are frickin useless aren't they?! Even on its bipod, the Type 88's muzzle dances around making it next to useless at medium ranges or longer. The U-100's cycle rate is too low to make it effective in a CQB situation, against anyone with any other type of weapon. So I guess I had better try the LSAT to see if that's any better.
And as for the lag/ rubber banding, even my broadband connection had enough and dropped midway through a game. I think it was a particularly heavy night as far as contention goes though as all the maps I played had fairly high levels of lag at differing times. <\moan>
I do quite enjoy the new maps though, even though I don't currently know them very well, resulting in more ambushes than I'd like.
@KarlMac; I think it may have been me you took out with the hover craft as I don't remember seeing an enemy in one around me, then WHAM, we have a floater!
That's fairly easily done though in the heat of battle. The number of times I've shot at friendlies as they've not had any gamertag above their head.

The LMGs are useless on a bipod, I think the best way to get the ribbons is to run and gun with the most stable one available.
Not sure which ones you've unlocked, but the Chinese one isn't too bad. Generally the lower the amount of ammo they hold, the better they are off a bipod.
I think it also helps if you're stand still for a second or even go prone before pulling the trigger - not always possible, but if you do sneak up on someone take that extra half second and it helps with the accuracy.

I rarely come across "Dolphins" or "Drop Shotters" on BF4 - although Bunny hopping across open spaces seems almost universal.
BTW: I've got a brand new excuse for my plummeting KDR - I've accessed the Phantom Trainee assignment and need 200 pistol kills, so if you see my blasting away with a Rex at someone 30m away, you know why!
Haven't unlocked the MG4 yet unfortunately, so that one's out. The LSAT seems to be the best of the bunch I have access to currently. It's certainly more stable, with a better range than the Type 88 according to the stats. Its magazine holds a relatively meagre 100 rounds too, which is the equal lowest of the lot I think. So will give it a try tonight.
