I played a bit of air superiority last night and apart from being a death fest, it's a great way to rack up points in aircraft.
Is it just me or do the Apache's seem to be much slower on air superiority than normal game modes?
The balloon is quite a distance off the ground and the peaks are very high too, so I think it's the altitude that most people play at that makes them seem slow. Is it just me or do the Apache's seem to be much slower on air superiority than normal game modes?
You have to use a lot of the engine power to climb to a decent height (rather than moving forward at speed) - if you then dive for a bit you soon pick up speed, but then have to climb again to get to where everyone else is!
I fecking hate that map in that game mode though - one flag and dozens of attack choppers that aren't really designed for air to air combat. If you're the pilot you only get two heatseakers every few minutes and then you're on to unguided rockets.
I thought I was done with air superiority after slogging through it for the 3 Jet kill ribbons, but I now need 20 jet kills for the phantom assignment, so it looks like I'm going to have to slug it out for a few more matches.
As for picking up points, I'm convinced it was the best game mode for racking up points in BF3 - you could cap a couple flags a minute and just hop from one flag to the next. It's not quite as good in BF4, but still not bad.

I'm telling you, you're doing it wrong. Two jet ribbons last night in 10 minutes - destroy the ac130 with the attack jet. Now the ac130 has been buffed its almost always full. You can murder it in one pass and it respawns instantly. Two passes = one ribbon.
what's the best map for this? I keep forgetting which ones are the AC-130 maps.KarlMac said:

I had a go at flood zone last night after your post yesterday - made a good pass at the AC130 fired both my active radar missiles, neither tracked, then I let rip with the 30mm cannon and the rounds seemed to bounce off - not a single hit marker? I must be doing it wrong!

Golmud, paracel and the naval strike maps are the best ones.
Quick question, I tend to only play conquest and every now and again dabble in a bit of TDM, but what are the other game modes like? Used to play a lot of rush but got pissed off with being the only one who was trying to secure the objective while the rest of the team were sniping. Are they less laggy the conquest or more?
ps. This is for the ps3 version.

Carrier Assault starts as Conquest and finishes as Rush, the maps are good, but the rubber banding seems to be worse on these maps. Only on Naval Assault Maps.ps. This is for the ps3 version.
Air Superiority is for jet wh0res (or those trying to unlock jet assignments!) and is great for racking up jet unlocks, but is a bit one dimesional. It's essentially conquest but in aircraft and is only on the China Rising maps.
Capture the Flag is a lot of fun, promotes teamwork and both offense and defense. Possibly only on Second Assault maps?
Oblivion is good fun - like Capture the flag, but there's just the one bomb to fight over and take to 3 enemy Mcoms.
There's another game mode that's essentially Squad Rush, but you only get one life per game. Not bad, quick fire rounds, but quite limited in the area you play in and obviously only 8 people in the game.
Squad Death Match - not played it a huge amount on the BF4, but really only a novelty in BF3.
Someone once described Obliteration as playing like a football match...
Each team vying for possession of the 'ball' as gameplay moves from one end to the other.
An apt analogy I think, although it falls apart a bit when someone in possession gets airlifted to the other end of the 'pitch'

You missed judge flying a jet AND a helicopter in the same round. He got some kills too
Sorry for getting a bit over excited, but it was kills 2,3, and 4, ever for me in an attack jet so it doesn't happen too often. Although as mentioned last night did get a service star in the Stealth jets last night without having ever killed anyone! KarlMac said:

Had a lot of fun for the short while I was on last night - no ph tags taken, but a few of you kindly donated to my Rex fund!
Git. You missed judge flying a jet AND a helicopter in the same round. He got some kills too
He also seems to suffer from agoraphobia - definitely averse to being outside a vehicle in open spaces.
