Knives have always been a challenge for me and as I'm currently trying to fill in gaps in assignments / unlocks etc I find myself trying to melee my way forward. I found a couple of decent knife only servers (with the usual assortment of 'tards or still use guns of course) but I'm very inconsistent when it comes to getting kills. Questions:
1. Does it make any difference what knife you use? Are some quicker than others for example?
2. Countering - I always seem to lose no matter which side of the attack I'm on. I can't ever counter and if I attack from the front I always get countered. Do you have to constantly click R3 or is it a one press luck of the timing thing that I suck at?
3. I never seem to be the right distance from people but seem to be able to receive a jolly good knifing from people stood in the same sort of positions who apparently have magnetic knives that pull me towards them.
I'm making progress with the old melee assignments but it's frustrating and more a case of quantity over quality - do any of you have any tips?
I joined you earlier, expecting fun. What I got was a server with fairly high pingers and 258ms ping.. I stood behind someone who's name sounded vaguely Indian pressing R3 for 40 seconds to no avail, then found myself being stabbed from the front by said individual with no counter option?!?

Yes mate, got fed up of mouth breathers liking or posting Britians first or IS murder videos and consequently filling my newsfeed... Oh and my sister airing her dirty laundry... Will play hc again tonight i feel

Ah, now we are talking, with more than 2500 tags taken, ( I need to get a life)I feel qualified answer. I think my record is 17 in one game! 1. Does it make any difference what knife you use? Are some quicker than others for example?

1. As far as I am aware they are all the same.
2. Never try to knife from the front it's a lottery, I keep clicking and seem to do okay.
3. NEVER try to knife from the front!
personally never used a knife only server, apart from maybe a couple of times when snaf tried to run one, too many people trying to do the same thing as you. What you need is a spawn beacon so you can get behind enemy lines, a shot gun to deal with unexpected face to faces and the craftiness to sneak up behind people. As plenty of people know,the hills on hainan resort are my happiest hunting ground, you want to be on the team spawning furthest from them. If we are on at the same time, happy to show you what I do but ultimately you really need to be in a part of the map without any team mates so that you can be fairly confident which way the enemy are looking.

I hadn't considered the ping, I recently expanded my options to include servers outside Europe because I couldn't get any games other than Conquest - I need to keep an eye on things like this.I thought I saw you pop in for a bit but to be honest I was in a mess furiously worrying about getting stabbed up.

Wise words as always sir - you speak a lot of sense and I have noted your comments. I seem to often find myself in a situation where the guaranteed sneaky back stab quickly turns into R3, R3, R3 nothing happening.... he's turned around, now he's walking behind me, where's he gone... oh I've been stabbed.1. Played for the first time today in about 6 months. Had some good rounds and it seemed fairly good. Two things they need for fix though but won't by now, first is the locking on signal coming on after the missile has hit(!) and the second is how bloody powerful C4 is against tanks, I can never get way from those kamikaze f

Yet the same C4 dropped in a doorway by the enemy blows you to kingdom come and the other guy rarely gets a KIA.... Or it takes 4 or 5 sraws to destroy a tank - makes it almost impossible to attack a tank without 2 or 3 engineers in tow. kers!!Had a few rounds the other night, couldnt hit anything but laughed like a drain when standing next to Havoc he took 2 heli's down 1 after the other...

That's a shame, I saw one of the SMAW shots and it was epic! I agree with what Chunty said though, the hit detection on that server was off! I did ok but there were many times that I was saying WTF? Still had some great fun with the Merc bunch. They owned those rounds!Battlelog says the Zavod night map will be out in September.

Zavod Night... So they're turning off the lighting and releasing it as a new map? Is it just one lone map?

I was rather happy with the shot. I'm getting pretty good, but the. You have to when using PDWs, esp the VAL! They are. Filling for getting DMR camps. The MERC. Guys are pretty funny. They don't take it too serious either. Although they do have some good chopper pilots.

More things I just don't understand (this list will be added to when I have more time:
1. When I am in a tank and I see an enemy tank, I see him, I shoot and hit, I continue to shoot and hit. Yet I die first.
2. When I see an enemy tank and I am an engineer, I fire about 4 rockets to get a kill, or most likely he runs off in seconds or kills me. When I am in a tank and there is an enemy engineer, about 200 rockets are heading my way in 10 seconds flat.
3. When I have a SPAS or other shotgun, my first hit annoys the person, the second one scares them and my third kills. When I come up against an enemy with a Spas, he looks in my general direction and I die before I've got a shot off (please note two guys yesterday didn't even look at me they were running along past me and I still died)..
