Battlefield 4 (PS4)

Entertaining evening last night
Had my worst ever round last night. Comedy rages on chat
might be worth trying to find a decent server when we are all on again and get some dedicated roles going? Used to lone wolfing lots with the AS Val but want to be a repair or revive we just to mix the game up a bit.

When do you guys normally play? I'm level 122 and still play a couple of times per week. I normally lone wolf it on the ADHD server and would be interested in playing with a group from time to time. I'm keep close to a 1.0 KDR with the odd great game then the odd awful one.
I like to play Recon but tend to go for Assault as backup.

Worse than that the servers are currently flooded with Turks and Arabs meaning even IF you hit them with two mags they kill you instantly and waddle off with light damage
Always had a lot from KSA - seem to be a lot of Japanese on the EU servers ?!? Their 100mbps destroys me!Havoc856 said:

Given I'm living in Qatar and play on the EU servers I can say from my side that I've never seen that. I'm often getting hit and dive behind a wall, get 2 or 3 steps then die from cover. Mansells Tash said:

I'll bite.James as said last night 40 meg and 23ms at the max. Sony TV with 6ms refresh so at most I'm 29ms.
What you're describing is pretty much standard fare since day one. It's magnified when there are 20 odd players with huge delays 50ms and above - getting killed when behind cover and seeing your body lag back to where they saw you isn't uncommon.
I think in the last week I've been on 15 different servers and only two were at the standard that you could call 'meh it's battlefield'.
I can bias connection to different devices and see a substantial improvement in my KD as I can get away with a LOT more on 1mbps than 40. The game is bias to the lowest common denominator. Concern is with it set that low that other games and services are barely functional.
This has been since day one and will be until Bf1 comes out.
I started out on a Bt line that gave me about 4 meg max and c.50ms. It was bad but worked to a degree. I had what you're describing and I got away with some seriously "should be at the respawn screen" moments. Now I've changed to a separate line to the BT through a single stack into fibre and I get 40meg and 23ms max. If my internet was bad id have the same issue I had on BT. I don't. If my internet was bad I'd struggle in Doom and Rainbow 6 - I do, but it's my own lack of talent there. The game is slick and hit detection not an issue.
As a random point turbo toaster I think is in UAE and I don't have an issue with him - aside from the occasional sliding on his knees.
As for the tools comment part of my job is QoS for WAN over multiple systems and LAN. So I think I'm pretty well qualified to be able to back up my statements.
Last nights Metro was a joke. People in the ceilings, people in glitches in buildings and pouring rounds with a bipod down into targets that just wouldn't go down... But the frame rate certainly did...

23ms sounds a little high for an FTTC line (assuming it is). Is it noisy? It sounds like you have some DLM active that's applying interleaving. I'm currently on a plain old ADSL service as my cabinet isn't fibre enabled yet and my latency between my gateway and ISP is around 12ms. That's on a fastpath profile. I.e. with no interleaving applied.James as said last night 40 meg and 23ms at the max. Sony TV with 6ms refresh so at most I'm 29ms.

How do you have your PS4 connected to your gateway?
Although your downstream rate has little to do with the gaming experience you could always apply some QoS to the PS4 and see if that helps. I'd throttle back the rest of your network enabled kit on the upstream as that could provide a benefit. That way you could give the PS4 max upstream bandwidth.
Have you assessed the buffer bloat present on your link? That could cause issues like you're seeing. DSLReports' 'speed tester' has a very good buffer bloat assessment as part of its test.
Have you measured the input latency of your TV? I ask as I have one of the 'fastest' TV's that's been produced in modern times and it presents around 12-13ms of input lag. Most modern displays are at around 30ms plus.
When we were playing with you recently, I didn't have any latency issues, they were all talent related! I know how frustrating it can be to have them though (I played BF4 for well over a year when it was released).
