English would be a useful addition, but I note they still haven't added a command for "Drop your f*cking ammo box, you moronic Noob! I ran out 5 minutes ago - I've not been chasing you around because I want to be your friend!"
They are still noobs because they hear it in English. Have you ever heard any requests in Chinese? I don't think they are not they only noobs in this equation biggrin

I don't recall hearing any requests in BF4 actually? confused

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not getting into BF4 like I did with BF3 - the constant crashing and problems with playing (instakills from people before they arrive on your screen) and the need for teamwork to be even moderately effective plus the Battlelog site not being as engaging as BF3 has left me feeling a bit ambivalent about it.

I think a large part of it is that it seems much more difficult to get kills on BF4 than on BF3 - I quite often get quite a few shots on someone only for them to disappear around a corner never to be seen again/for their entire squad to spawn on them and pop out of cover to nail you.

I guess not having a proper headset yet detracts from it too (have the wireless Sony one from the PS3 that is due to be patched in Jan).

Of course, I'll still play it as I'm properly addicted, but I can't say I'm enjoying it as much as I did BF3. Maybe I just need to adjust to it a bit? I can certainly see that it's got potential, hopefully they'll get the issues sorted soon.

On another note, does anyone know where you need to hit a tank with an RPG to immobilise it?

I really like the Golmund Railway map, so almost always join a server on that map when I start. Unfortunately the next map in the rotation is Locker, which I like as a map, but it crashes every single game on it.

I also crashed out of Golmund once last night.

In case anyone's interested, here's the map rotation:

Siege of Shanghai
Lancang Dam
Zavod 311
Hainan Resort
Flood Zone
Dawnbreaker
Rogue Transmission
Paracel Storm
Golmud Railway
Operation Locker

Anywhooo...

Good fun playing with fellow PHers last night. Sorry I was so st, only the second time I've turned it on so largely the first time I've seen those maps (excuses etc).

There is much to learn, didn't realise you can compensate for bullet drop now, which is pretty cool. Loads of stuff flashing up on screen I didn't get but will slowly get to grips with it all. I may have to duck out and get my skills back up to speed before ruining your games further with my horrible KD ratios hehe

Anyway, thanks for making me welcome thumbup

I wasn't in the game last night, but as a long standing PH platoon member I think I'm qualified to say that the main object of the PHers who play is to have fun, not necessarily win or have fantastic stats, so no need to worry about "ruining" anyone's game. smile

Plus, we were all noobs once (some of us still are!). laugh

How do I find you lot to play with? Used to play the odd game on BF3.

Do you play hardcore?
You need to send be friends with us on PSN. Send us a friend request or post up your username and people will send you requests.

Once you're friends with people on here when you got to server browser it will tell you which games you're friends are in.

Had a lot of fun last night trying to unlock the first melee assignment - you need 10 Melee Ribbons with each one requiring 4 melee kills in a round.

It's harder than it sounds - especially when squad mates spawn on you, shoot your target as you approach, who then turns and counterknifes you at the last minute!

Also, repair torch kills don't count as a melee kill. Not sure about defib kills?

Yup, I just got annoyed with having to pump what feels like 25 rounds into a target. In hardcore you have to think before you run across an open field as just 1 stray bullet can kill you. It also changes the dynamics of close quarters games like Locker - as you cant just stand back in a group and spray an LMG (well you can but you will kill half your team!)

Its also nice to have a clean screen without all the maps and stats and to be able to take a tank/lav out with just a couple well placed RPG's (not 4-5!)
On the downside you have to look through a letterbox to fly/drive any vehicles and lose any sense of where sounds are coming from (as you can't see people pop up on your mini-map).

Plus it's full of people who will happily teamkill you for a vehicle. grumpy

You've got a point: I've noticed on Locker occasions where I've turned a corner and been insta-killed by someone I've come face to face wit hon the other side - even when they couldn't possibly have got the drop on me.

Also I quite often get off least 5 rounds on target with no hit markers before being killed by the guy I'm shooting at, so there definitely are issues with lag.

There were always issues on BF3 with lag too, but they were generally less noticeable. It was only really in Gunmaster games where I noticed it.

I agree that something is definitely wrong with the way the game plays at the moment, it's especially noticeable on Operation Locker, I must die after ducking behind cover at least a couple times every game on that map, but I doubt as many people are actively trying to exploit the issue as you think.

Most people just want a fair game.

How do I play BF4 with my fellow piston headers?

My psn I'd is Craste.
You'll need to add a few of us as friends on PSN by either sending friend requests to us or accepting friend requests from us.

You can look up our PS4 names on the Wiki in the Video Games forum on here. Snafu, hangingjudge, Matt London and PExy are some of the guys who are more often on.

Once you've done that, if you go to the server browser in the multiplayer section it will show you the servers that we're playing on.

If you add [PH] as your clan tag on Battlelog we'll be able to see you're a PHer and people will try to get on your team/steal your dogtags.

Well yesterday was an unmitgagted disaster for my stats. Both win/loss and KDR. Not sure what went off but the christmas noobs were out in force. Had 8 KIA's in one game, mainly by people not bein able to fly or just jumping out of choppers.
That's possibly the most annoying thing in the game - random squadmate takes transport heli immediately the start of the game, you select an appropriate kit and spawn on him, just as he bails because he's reached an objective leaving you to wonder why the heli you're in just nose-dived into a building! banghead

My other pet peeve is people taking IFVs/tanks/attack choppers at the start of the game and just using them as a taxi, dumping them at the first flag and just inviting an enemy to steal it, let alone depriving your team of its use in the inevitable tank battle at the middle flag.

On the plus side I finally unlocked a range finder for the first sniper rifle and it makes a huge difference to being able to land a quick head shot on the first shot at distance. I've still got a long way to go before I unlock the 50x 200m headshot kills assignment though - it's going to demolish my SPM. frown

Does that mean if I used a 100% booster as well, I'd get almost 5 points !?!?
laugh

All joking aside it's great for levelling up the tough weapons (pistols and bolt action rifles in my case) plus tricky vehicles, like the jets.

Had an absolutely epic game on Operation Locker earlier, unpacked by medic gear and got to work at the one of the choke points by C.

51 medic ribbons and 6 defib ribbons later I came away with 45,000 points for the game, plus double xp, plus a 50% boost meant a haul of over 120,000 points and an SPM of 1,999! biggrin

I quite like the China Rising Maps, they feel quite different to most of the BF4 ones.

Anyone got any tips on how to play Hainan Resort Conquest? I seem to really struggle to have a good game on it, no matter what load out I try.

In IFVs I seem to get taken out by squads of engineers, in the scout heli I have trouble with the mobile AA and as infantry I spend long periods of time looking around for someone to shoot?!

I guess I just don't know where the "hotspots" tend to be, like on other maps - the action just seems very spread out.

Good to see new guys getting in to the game - don't worry about too much about getting killed a lot when you first start, we've all been there!

It's difficult to short-cut the learning curve, but I'd say a couple of general tips might help: first, try to spend as little time in the open as possible when on foot, the only time you should be in the open is when you're moving (at full speed) between cover.

The second is: think about your kit. As you get to know the maps you'll find certain kits work well in certain areas, e.g. recon class with a motion sensor and shotgun inside a building works very well, as you can see where enemies are moving on your map and deal with them with the first shot when you turn a corner and come face to face with them. Of course, that set up is useless on a large open map, where it might be better to take an assault rifle and medi pack.

A final one is keep an eye on your mini-map (although there isn't one in hardcore mode) - it shows you whenever an enemy is spotted by a teammate or fires an unsilenced weapon. It even shows you which way they're facing, so you can sneak up on them!

How do you play at an easier level?
This is one of the game's failings in my view. I haven't found any option that allows me to play against similar level players.
Instead you get pitched against hardcore players who have dedicated every living second of their recent life time to the game in order they 'level up' to all the unlocked weapons.
The unlocked weapons don't give you an advantage over all, they're pretty well balanced, e.g. one might give better accuracy at range, but it also has heavier recoil making it more difficult to land follow up shots.

It is tough playing against people who know the maps inside out though, but on the plus side, it allows you to learn from better players.

I'm getting mightily hacked off with trying to get a defib kill. bd thing just isn't working!
The defib works slightly different in PS4 to PS3, you can see it when other people use it, but not particularly clearly when you do - there's a slight delay (whilst the paddles "charge") between you pressing the trigger and the charge being delivered.

Try pressing the button slightly before you get within striking distance and holding it whilst you run up against your target.
