Yep, fk PB. Annoyed it's basically nuked my BF3 stuff as well, being global. I'll be back tonight as an unranked pleb.
TBH it is no great loss. Your KDR will look amazing. These days, my KDR is 2:1 or better but until about 2 years ago, it was 0.3 or worse! My total KDR is 1.17.
My last 3 KDRs: 49/11, 43/5, 57/16
(I think these are unusually good for me, though.)
FWIW, I like to have a KDR > 1.0 just for my own sense of satisfaction.

I'm looking forward to the smurfing accusations being thrown around! These days, my KDR is 2:1 or better but until about 2 years ago, it was 0.3 or worse! My total KDR is 1.17.

Checked my stats there, I've ended with 1.15 total - likewise, as long as it's above 1.0 I'm happy; much of my early days were spent being obliterated - I'd say only in the last year or so it's actually began to climb.
Assuming Punkbuster lets me onto the game with a new account, it should be interesting this time around with a bit of know how under my belt.

As for smurfing (had to google it), there are far more skillful players so I play with more strategy and less risk.
Having a newer PC is useful, though.

Just joined half way through a BF3 game for a quick sesh. KDR 36/15.
Noice!I've just about broken even on the few games I've had so far, forgotten how st I am with iron sights.
Doing the basics to get all the weapon trees unlocked, and whatever the challenge is to get my MTAR back - then the fun can begin!

Just find a TDM or small conquest map.
64/8.
Was a boring sniper for most of it, though. Just holding the enemy at bay.
I played a fair bit over the bank holiday weekend - had to reinstall the game and noticed I'd last played in July 2015!!
To say I was a bit rusty was understatement. Had a lot of fun though, and noticed some new server stuff such as 'nuking' when one side is locked in their spawn point on a conquest map, and a lot more balancing- both auto and voluntary- which kept the rounds much closer.
After a few beers on Friday night I also indulged my guilty pleasure- 64 player conquest on Operation Locker with no weapon restrictions!
Definitely need to get more practice in, I was barely breaking even in terms of k/d on most rounds.

Played a load more BF4 over the weekend, still holds up so well- or perhaps I just don't play enough modern games these days!
Also purchased BF5 cheap to see what it's like, had some good rounds online with a mate but bloody hell the conquest maps are big. Absolutely love the WW2 setting and the sound is outrageously good, but I was missing the ability to hose down entire squads with an F2000

Been back playing BF4 for 2 months now and it's even better than I remember it being at the time- probably because I gave up on it and went back to BF3 before all of the issues were properly resolved.
But now it seems super smooth, the levels load in an instant, and the gameplay is superb. It's also surprised me how many people are still playing (both level 140 players and newcomers) - you can generally find a full server for most maps and the more popular maps all have dedicated 24/7 servers which are nearly always full.
I have mostly been playing infantry-only conquest, as I have found some of the large open map servers have been dominated by the same 'career' jet pilots who end up going 150+ kills for less than 5 deaths round after round, which wears a bit thin... Fair play to them for the skill involved to reach that stage, but I find there is much less individual domination playing infantry only.
That said I did run into an infantry player last week who had over 50,000 kills with each of the major hand grenade types, and had 20+ service stars with most weapons. I'm not sure I'd have managed that even had I played every single day since the game was released back in 2013
Have been averaging anywhere between 2:1 - 5:1 KD whilst making a conscious effort to play more aggressively than I used to- there is definitely something to be said for playing in that manner. I used to be terrified of dying constantly, so I tended to play very conservatively which just resulted in me dying constantly!
Corporal Jones was definitely onto something when he said "they don't like it up 'em!"
