I don't seem to have any chance at all catching a slide when the tc is turned off :s

Looking forward to new content and practicing.

those e30 m3 exhaust pops and bangs, hnng!
I can barely get the back end to break loose. 458 is my favourite and feels convincing but even with TC off it's quite tame on power delivery. FFB feels very bland and numb for most cars and they have huge understeer. The E30 and Lotus 49 are utter wet blankets frown

It's got potential but so far I'm not overly impressed. I've driven more realistic feeling mods in rfactor, like the ZR1.

I'm getting a solid 60fps at 1920x1080 with everything turned up (except reflections, if I go past 3 faces it hammers the fps down to the mid 30s).

Using a 360 pad (I know, I know) with the Exige Stealth, with all assists except autoclutch turned off, I managed to post a 1.22.620 around Silverstone.

I've found that you need to turn off "auto blip/cut throttle" if you want to have any chance at all of catching a slide, and even then - you need the reactions of Fangio himself to be able to do it.

For what it's worth, my pad settings are:

Gamma: 1.5
Filter: 0.95
Speed Sensitivity: 0.1
Deadzone: 0.05

Just tried the X-Bow and the two production Lotus and they actually have a decent "rubber meets road" feel which is lacking in many of the others. I had to whack up the FFB gain to 125% to really feel much at all.

Mine was working fine with it (at a fairly low FPS) this morning but now I get an error saying my card isn't DX 10.1 compatible. Card is a Geforce 250 GTS.
Tried updating drivers but still comes up with the same error.
There was an update done by Kunos which enabled a DirectX check, they list the minimum specs as DX 10.1, and the 2xx series are only DX 10.0 compatible.

They've done a further update after people complained though, you have to edit an ini file as per the thread here: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?thread...

Thanks, I'll give that a go. Explains why the trees were square before!

Worked a treat, also now running at a much higher FPS than I was originally, with the same settings I'm up from 25-30 to 80-90.

I have been looking at this game on Steam and wondering if it's worth getting. We have a PC under the TV with all my Steam games on, and thinking this looks perfect for a car sim (with X-Box controller).

Is it worth the price, and is it really as pretty as it looks?

tempted to pick this up next month, looks good.

Is it just a case of get car and go? Or can you get upgrades etc similar to forza/GT?

Pick a car, pick a track, hotlap or time attack - that's pretty much it at the minute.

There is no AI, no multiplayer, no career mode yet but it is all coming. The price is going to go up though, so it's either wait and see but pay more, or early access and pay a bit less, but get an unfinished game.

You can change tyre compounds and adjust suspension settings / aero settings etc, but there aren't any upgrades in the sense of whacking a race air filter/race exhaust on or anything like that.

The E30 is a completely different animal when you change it from 90s Sports tyres to semi-slicks!!

I'm sure most are aware and have used them with the tech demo but a few nice apps above. Having fun with the drift app

Force feedback doesn't seem to be doing a lot of the Driving Force GT at the moment frown

I love it so far. The feel of the Ferrari is amazing - totally controllable on the limit.

I've been driving AC with the Elise at Magionne for quite a while now in the tech preview (which was available to existing customers of Net Kar Pro, my favourite sim before AC came on the scene), and I updated to the full Beta version as soon as it was announced on Friday. In short, it's superb. In real life I owned an Elise for 8 years, have driven the SC version a fair bit and provided I guess accurately on the subtle mods for the AC version (e.g. an LSD), it's the most accurate and nice feeling sim I've ever tried (and I think I've tried every PC sim out there). I definitely prefer it to the currently regarded best sims, RFactor and iRacing, which seem to suffer from weird tyre modelling.

To be honest the road cars in AC are a bit dull, but that's just the same as real life - when you've got racing cars like the Lotus 49 or track cars like the KTM X-Bow to drive, then full road cars like the E92 M3 or 458 Italia will inevitably seem a bit blunted and dull in comparison, and annoyingly these make up the majority of cars in the Beta version and final game. They are entertaining though, but I normally drive them for ten minutes and then jump straight into one of the proper track cars. That aside though, it's an utterly awesome sim and I'd highly recommend it. For the full version we're getting at least one other track car (a 2-Eleven, which is what I swapped my Elise for in real life, so that'll be interesting and another opportunity to verify and validate), and at least a couple of other nice racing cars (Ferrari 312T and one of the JPS Lotuses).

My favourite cars so far are the KTM X-Bow and Lotus 49, and they're pretty much all I'm driving. The 49 is a legend of course, and I'm amazed at how well the X-Bow drives - the engine's not really suited to the job in hand, but the chassis is wonderful.

The only other criticism is I'm getting major flickering and tearing when using Crossfire - I have to run through just the one graphics card to solve that issue. Given that, I'm amazed at how smoothly it runs; the gfx coding must be extremely efficient.

An idiot asks: is this sufficiently workable with just a keyboard? If not, what works well short of a proper wheel & pedals setup?

I tried it with a keyboard when I first installed just to test it would run and its not so good! You can use it with an xbox controller through a wireless receiver available for £7 on ebay.

Being a PC Sim, you really need a wheel and pedal set to enjoy it. Even with an X-Box controller you'd really struggle to drive any of the cars at anywhere near a competitive or rewarding pace. It's a simulation of real cars, so imagine driving your real car with your thumbs on a couple of mushrooms biggrin There are driver aids available, which I admit I've not tried yet, but to be honest if you're going to switch those on and drive with an X-Box controller or keyboard you'd be better off with a console game that's designed for that. All in my humble opinion of course.

Fair enough, thanks. One to save for some cash-rich time in the future then.

There's always E-Bay. I think I've still got my old wheel and pedals up in the loft, and I doubt I'd get more than a tenner for them. If you do get a set, I'd recommend Logitech. My current set is a G27 with three pedals and a proper gear level you can mount on either side - it's fantastic for the Lotus 49 and very satisfying to drive using the full controls like a proper car - the pedals are weighty enough for heel and toe, decent LFBing etc.

I love the Lotus line-up they have planned, but I would be much happier if it had the 340R.

It does seem like a strange omission given that they've got the Evora S, which whilst it's my one of my favourite road cars of all time from a driving perspective, is surely inferior to a 340R round a track in all measures of fun, speed, etc? There's a heavy bias on full on comfy road cars in AC, which is probably to keep public interest up I suppose, because despite generally being inferior to drive round a track than a dedicated tool for the job, big, relatively heavy and comfy road cars get more publicity and attract more interest in magazines, computer games etc.
