Strangely it all seems fine with my G27. Thanks for the settings though - I'll try them tonight! driving

The first update is now out with some new cars and tracks.

Details on Assetto Corsa Site

I'm enjoying this game so far. Looking forward to the multi-player where I'll no doubt be awful!

ETA: Don't miss the scroll buttons on the car choice screen and fail to realise there is a Zonda available driving

They've even done my colour scheme on the 2-Eleven judging by the Steam update backdrop. I did ask, I wonder if my request got through? :-)

The Zonda is a fair old beast smile FFB seems a little better, still not the same kind of feel you get from something like iRacing. Its going in the right direction though.

I've just tried the update smile The 2-Eleven's not available in my Lotus 49 colour scheme, but it is the road version like mine, which is great! I tried it at the track I last drove in it, Silverstone International, and have just compared my replay from just now in Assetto Corsa with some in-car laps from the real track in my 2-Eleven that I filmed a couple of months ago (see link below). Here are my thoughts:

Initially it felt 80% of the way there, but with a much more stable back end and slightly less weight transfer effects - the slides didn't get nasty as quickly as they do in the real car and the rear seemed a bit more stable. Then I reduced the rear wing to 6 degrees (the track only version modelled in the sim has an adjustable rear wing, whereas my road version doesn't) and I took the front ARB down a notch to position 2 (I actually run full stiffness at the front, but I noticed the sim has 4 positions, so maybe the track car has a different front ARB?). Now with those settings it feels very similar indeed to my 2-Eleven, and in the video comparison it looks spookily similar. Lap times are about a second different (normally I'm quicker in real life when I've done this before, but this time it was the other way round), but it was my first time on the layout when I drove it back then and I've been practising a lot at the circuit lately on AC, so I'd say the lap times are bang on - if I went back in my real car I think I know where I could gain time. The real car has fully adjustable dampers all round (rebound and comp), which sadly isn't available in Assetto Corsa; I'd like to increase the damping at the rear end a bit (which is what I do to mine for trackdays, as per Lotus' recommendation), and I think it'd be 100% there then. Oh, and it sounds rubbish with the standard road exhaust compared to my motorsport one, but I think that's the same as real life too.

We need a setting for the seating position too - I'm about 6 inches shorter in the body than the sim driver must be (I look partly through the aeroscreen) and I have the seat much further back cause of my long legs.

All in all, pretty good though, I'm impressed! smile The 3D model is also bang on, right down to the stickers and plaque etc in the cockpit.

Edited to add link to in-car footage from real life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2zeMU3VeSo

Thanks for the in depth review rob. Is always interesting to hear from people that can compare to driving the cars in real life. I'm sure there'll be a custom skin in your colours soon. There are already quite a few for the existing cars.

Nice one Rob! I'm pretty sure you can change seat position, is there some controls on one of the buttons on the right in game side bar?

Thank you, you're right, there are. I will adjust for my short arse next time I play!

Sorry, yes, that's me on the right in my 49 liveried 2-Eleven. If you look on the AC forum I posted a comparison of apex and straight speeds this morning. The results were fascinating - almost identical around every corner.

Well my graphics card finally arrived so I've now played it properly (rather than at 20fps) and it really is amazing, especially considering its a work in progress.
The way the light falls on the dashboard as you move around the track, and the dirty zonda windscreen are all nicely done.
Love the handling and feedback, also installed Fanaleds so I get speed, current gear, and gear change warnings on my steering wheel's display.

Only trouble I have now is that my little table I've mounted the wheel on moves all over the place so think I need to knock up something more solid!

Was surprised how well it ran on my aging machine too, its only an old AMD X2 6000+ with under 2gb of ram, the card is great (MSI 7790 2gb) but again was a budget purchase at £80. I've got most things turned up now and no noticeable issues with frame rate.

I was a massive fan of netKar so this might be the thing to get me back into sim-racing. Interestingly, it's convinced several people I know to buy new PCs that'll run it - people who haven't touched sim-racing since the Grand Prix Legends phenomenon faded.

That's as good an endorsement as I need. biggrin

Looks like we've got another update due in the next few days. Must say I'm not bored of the current content yet, don't think I've even had a chance to drive all of the cars!
Really is fantastic fun just in hotlapping mode.

ETA Looks like full silverstone is in

2 new Lotus, and a Mclaren! - Should be fun bashing around the new Silverstone GP track, too.

Ooh =)

Loving the mclaren, haven't had a chance to try the others yet though. Didn't realise I had reflections switched off before either so everything looks a lot nicer now!

Tired of more of these dull Lotuses but the McLaren is good, seems faster than the 458 too.
