Omg it's like a whole new game! Shame you have to spend money on a wheel to fully enjoy it , but boy is it fun , my hands hurt!!

That's a relief! I'll definitely invest in a wheel then!

Low powered cars are just about manageable with a pad, but trying to do the N2 races in the Z4 is night on impossible.

That is good news, I wanted to like PC so much, but anything RWD was undriveable.

What wheel did you go for out of interest?

Ive got a logitech g29 wheel and have been on the game today. I think its not very good so i don't know what everyone else is using in the settings. Not much feel, slow steering ratio, massive understeer unless really driving slow. Cant understand the hype reguarding physics.

I put dirt rally in after and with my settings its night and day in comparison. Feels like a completely different generation

Really quite interested in this. What would be a good steering wheel setup? I'm thinking of something where you don't have to fanny about attaching it, perhaps a full set up with a chair etc.

Played a few hours of it on PS4. Initial thoughts playing with my G29 wheel.

  • Visuals OK but the frame-rate is far too inconsistent and the screen tearing is borderline unacceptable. Off-putting
  • Handling in general very good but there's something really weird going on with the low-speed clutch control. It's like it has a mind of its own
  • Not enough steering wheel options - no customisable buttons, no pedal calibration options
  • Not enough HUD options - can't turn off 'fake' Rear-view mirror; no tyre/brake temp indicators
  • Sounds are all over the place - some fantastic (the FXXK is great) some really poorly done (F40)
  • The 'fake cockpit' view is fantastic - wanted something like that for years
  • Not enough cars and I don't like the idea of paying £25 for season pass to get the ones I want...that's almost the price of the game again!
It really has some great stuff but overall, I think Project Cars is a better polished game. If you could mix the two games together you'd have something very special!

It needs updating, though. It feels very barebones right now.

Sounds like the console version is pretty terrible compared to the PC version.

As above, I think there are some compromises on the console.

a) On PC we have Vsync in the options, and of course vsync, adaptive vsync with gfx card settings too. (anything hidden in the options?)
b) Wheel buttons, steering and pedals all fully able to be calibrated and buttons assigned.
c) Everything on the screen can be turned on and off when we put the mouse pointer to the right of the screen in car, it brings up a long scrolling list of options to turn things on, off and even to select 3rd party mods that we can install.
d) Sounds are great for PC
e) Assetto Corsa on the PC can have modded cars and tracks, very good ones as well.

This is the side screen popup for HUD controls, post processing, speed, timing, everything that can be positioned anywhere on the screen and pinned or removed. It's a lot better than the one for Project Cars on the PC which doesn't allow me to reposition anything.

Do you have any control option in car that allows you to pop that vertical list out?

So just put in a couple of hours on this on PS4, I'm finding it a brilliant sim using a G29 and H-shifter, I'm really having to work hard driving the cars fast and it's forcing me to take the correct lines on track whereas Pcars was a lot more forgiving if you weren't on the racing line.

I also like the career mode not all being about racing cars similar to real racing on the iPad.

It must be how you use it then as I manage fine on a controller, never going to manage to be as fast and some cars just don't work but still it's possible.

Same here, I'm not finding it unplayable on pad.

But can someone tell me how to get my tyre temp info on screen on ps4?

Nope, no options like that. HUD options are 'Full, limited or none' in the menus. And then it doesn't even tell you exactly what changes.

My biggest annoyance right now is the brake pedal. It's far too sensitive but I can't adjust it. And the wheel turns to lock are off in some cars but I can't adjust either!

The clutch control I've worked out is on cars with two pedals but Auto Clutch off, it doesn't pull clutch in at idle do it jitters down the road. Auto Clutch on.

I found issues with the auto clutch setting not working so I just clutch now.

Also to see tyre temps you need tyre wear on. However I think that only shows in telemetry

There's no real time telemetry on console. Is there any on PC?

Below is my default view...

Bottom-right: Tyre monitor showing pressures, core tempts and inner, middle and outer temps
Middle-left: Clutch, brake and throttle position
Middle-top: Lap timers
Middle-bottom: Track layout and position
Top-right: Lap-over-lap performance delta (really handy when hot-lapping)

There are loads of these widgets developed by the community, including a funky 3D pitch/roll/yaw monitor. I guess console users are going to miss out on the community stuff, which is a shame because there are loads of great cars, tracks and apps out there.
