Junk items will be broken down as needed by the workshop so just transfer them into the workshop storage. I've stopped hoarding quite so much junk. I only collect adhesive and the more complicated chemical/mechanical stuff now as I'm walking around.

Are there any other really good guns in the game?
I have an Assault Rifle that does 50% extra damage to Super Mutants. I can one shot (head) a SM..... The butchers and whatnot take 3-4 rounds...

I have a laser rifle than does 50% extra damage to robots. Handy for synth shooting... And 2-3 shots is a protectron down.

I have a suppressed 10mm pistol that does 50 damage. Makes raider killing fun, and most ghouls are one shot kills. But it has the advantage of using low AP, so it has about 20 shots.. Last night I had about 9 ghouls running at me and got the lot in one "AP" shot..... It was like watching Rambo...

I've not even used my Guass yet (ammo is expensive). Found the gamma guns a bit crud really..

Overseer's Guardian is a very decent early-mid game weapon.

It's in Vault 81, purchased from the vendor in the depot, but does cost around 3000 caps if memory serves. It's a rifle with the special perk that one bullet fires two shots, essentially dealing double the claimed output. It comes full-auto as standard, but I prefer to remove that for my Rifleman build and whack on a decent scope. Even on Survival it'll hold up very well until the latter third of the game.

It's not my most powerful gun though. I have a relatively new plasma rifle that does 159 ballistic and 159 energy damage per shot, but it also comes with the same two-shots-for-the-price-of-one perk, so it does more like 520 damage per shot. It's a beast.

Also, the Big Boy legendary version of the Fat Man mini-nuke launcher (which you get from Arturo in Diamond City) has finally made the upgrade to MIRV launcher. Essentially, when you fire, it launches two nukes that each split into half a dozen other mini-nukes and can vaporise entire settlements. That's twelve mini-nukes for the cost of one. It's hilariously broken., even if the ammo is really, really, scarce.

In the later stages of the game, modified Gauss seems to be the only choice to deal with some of the creatures, like legendary mythical deathclaw, no matter how legendary, unique or not your weapon is, nor how upgraded your power armour is. So collect 2mm's at all whenever it's possible.
PS of course that mostly relates to survival difficulty.

Last night I was in Ticonderoga and one of the terminals looked like the screen had water damage, I thought that was good, you could almost make out what was on screen but it just looked waterlogged.
When I went back to my base and opened my pip boy it too was the same, anyone else got this bug? It's a game breaker for me.

Had a full-on Windows style crash/hang on the Xbone last night. The upside is it provided enough motivation to have an earlier night. Not sure how much progress I've lost though - was busy improving a settlement.

I've not actually used the broadsider yet, the quest was good fun though. Anyone using the Deliverer? It's a unique silenced 10mm pistol that looks a bit like a Walther PPK. It's pretty good at short to mid range.

After spending the first 20 levels building my character as a melee pounding damage sponge I'm going to start levelling Int so I can get the gun nut perks. I've got a bunch of legendary weapons with cool perks but I can't make them into useful weapons for my build.

There's about 3 levels of breaking down stuff.

One is junk which can be split. For more important stuff like weapons and armour, it can be scrapped at the appropriate workbench, and there's a final way of scrapping things which is to drop them in a settlement, enter the workshop menu (for building/scrapping) and then point and click at it.

I found this out when I was collecting leather-

brahmin hide - stored as junk at the workbench

Raider leather (upgradeable/moddable kit)- can be scrapped at an armour workbench

Road leathers/Radstag hide outfit etc (stuff that can't be upgraded) - drop in a settlement and scrap with the workshop menu

One thing I do remember is that scrapping a weapon in the workshop menu (for a dropped weapon in a settlement) gave a lot of steel. I didn't get the chance to check what workbench scrapping would give, but I had a feeling it gave more scrap that way.

Great quest and the ending was inevitable but I thought they'd get a bit further, gun is crap though.

Very minor spoiler (where to go and what to look for)

North east of diamond city near the mouth of the river on the north bank there is a tall ship inexplicably perched on the roof of a building.

Yeah the Guardian is my go to gun at the moment. Short night scope and .308. Upgrade is now dealing 144 damage per shot! Very nice. smile

Also found a 10mm that dose the same double bullet thing. That deals out 73 damage per shot which is very good for close in stuff. Found it on a legendary raider so keep an eye out for it.

I don't think the double round guns actually do double the bullet damage. I think they fire a bullet a the standard damage and one at the modded output.

Will start buying 2mm ammo! Not come across and Gauss guns yet. Anyone got a battling laser? They look to be able to deal out a lot of hurt!

For those who were asking about how many Power armour suits they are here on a map, spoilered.

From here - http://fallout4map.com/

I screenshot only the Power Armour so as to not reveal other things, but if you want to check out what you might have missed you can select or deselect anything on the map.

Find yourself some power armour there are plenty of sites that can direct you to set. I've been playing the Fallout series it seems forever but the first thing I always do is grab some power armour there are so many things that want to kill you out there.
