Can you mod games bought through steam?
Yes, the data folder is in a different place though (on a default installation)
The game will be in the steamapps\common folder. Which is usually in program files if you didn't tell it to put it elsewhere (I think, I moved mine).

Indeed.

Also, many mods are available through the Steam Workshop so can be applied directly in Steam itself.

Personally I prefer to use the Nexus Mod Manager and get the mods from Nexus.

To get it looking like that would be:

Fellout - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/2672/?
NMCs Texture Pack - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/12056/?
NMCs Terrain Pack - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/774/?
ENB Rudy (for NV but works perfectly for FO3) - http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55076/?
Need to turn both AA and AF on Fallout Loader off as the ENB controls both with it's SweetFX plugin.

With the ENB I also use.
Fallout Street Lights - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8069/?
Fallout Street Lightss wasteland - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/10045/?
any of the night vision goggles on Fallout3 Nexus for any really dark caverns or night time work as it can be very dark. You wil need to Shift+F12 to turn the ENB off when wearing the googles for them to work then Shift+F12 again to turn the ENB back on when you have finished with the goggles.

I have others installed but those are the environmental mods.
Awesome. Thanks! I might give those a go.

Fallout 4 Creation Kit won't be released till next year so no mods as such till then, apart from texture upgrades - http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/07/06/fallout-4-...

But in the meantime if you have Fallout New Vegas, Project Brazil is being finished to fill the gap - http://steamed.kotaku.com/ambitious-new-vegas-modd...

Beta - http://www.moddb.com/mods/falloutprojectbrazil/dow...

Is there any news about a Fallout 4 edition PS4, like the recent Batman one? I managed to get a Pip Boy edition game reserved but wont buy a PS4 to play it on until closer to release date.

I am thinking its highly likely to happen and worth holding out for, anyone differ?

I'm not so sure, the game is only a few months away at this point and nothing has been announced.

But you may as well wait to buy one, special edition or not, until the week before the game is released.

That looks impressive. I'll look forward to that.

Have you played the Someguy Series (New Vegas Bounties I & II, The Inheritance, and Russell)? I enjoyed those.

With nothing else enticing me over for the moment i'd be inclined to agree.

Anyone know what the rail (appears to be) on the pavement on the right might be?

Something suitably retro-futuristic, like an Atomic Stairlift? smile

Just a heads up for anyone getting back into fallout 3 / new vegas in preparation for 4 , they are offering 90% discount on the full DLC packs on the PSN store for the ps3 version. If you don't have the game of the year versions, this is well worth it!! (just make sure your disc matches the product code as sony wont give you a refund!!)
Cheers

I had an email response from Game yesterday.

If you recall, I initially pre-ordered the XBox One version of the Pip-Boy edition of Fo4 because Game's website was broken for PC and I was worried that by the time they sorted it out, they would be sold out.

I sent them a message via their website asking them if they could change the order. But then about an hour or so later, the PC version got fixed and I successfully ordered it and then cancelled my order of the XBox One version.

So, a week later, they respond with:

Hi JJ,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately, the error message you get on our website is due to Fallout 4: Pip-Boy Edition is completely sold out on all platforms. If you were to cancel your order you would not get it on PC or Xbox One.

If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

To get in touch you can email us at customerservices@game.co.uk or call our customer services team on 0208 827 0099.

Alternatively please visit our website at http://www.game.co.uk/

Kind Regards,
Rachel C
The team at GAME

Well, thanks for that Rachel. Very helpful, I must say. smile

And if anyone is gettign back into FO3 and wants to play something new try the huge Alton, Illinois mod - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/16949/?

Big new landscape, multiple towns and quests. Twice the size of Point Lookout DLC.

I'm working my way through it.

It's the Freedom Trail. I had to do a little hunting - "boston obelisk" -> "bunker hill monument boston fallout" (which showed this image - -> Google maps also showed the line, with "Freedom Trail" written along it.

Yes, they are a bit vulgar in patriotism. I worked for amazon and they even exhibit it in their UK warehouses... I mean "fulfillment centres". Ugh.

Indeed. The Americans do walk a fine line between Patriotism and Jingoism.

Just a pinch of musical hype for anyone who remembers the end of the Bethesda conference.
