Played about an hour earlier. First time since 1st January.

I've got to get some more settlements for the Minutemen, so I guess I need to speak to the two sets I have waiting for a visit. One seems really hard though. It's based around the middle of the map and when I head to it, I get attacked by a humongous super mutant. The BOS also pile in for a bit of fun. It's a bit too much for me at the moment.
Is it the one near the satellite station? I found that pretty tough at a low level, but managed to pick them off from across the water.

I've recently done the Battle of Bunker Hill

I didn't fire a single shot!
hehe

It was the Hyde Park one. However, I attempted it again last night from the North, rather than the West. I strolled straight in, had a good firefight with the Raiders and cleared it out.

I couldn't even get near it before. smile

I also did a few quests for the detective and finally found Cait.

Did a few settlement link-ups and beefed up the security at the Drive In and Red Rocket.

I've now got to go and help with defence of the Castle, apparently. I left that for another evening though.

Have you got the tommy gun that fires explosive bullets? Think it dose 33 base damage with 15 points explosive. So if you have maxed out the Cammando perk you should be at 66 base with 15 on top!
doesnt the Tommy gun have high recoil and limited options to reduce this? The auto assault rifle can be modded to almost zero recoil, as can the 10mm auto pistol. That makes a big difference. Also, based on my testing, the explosive damage doubles to 30 if you have the demolition perk maxed out.

Yes, that was the previous method - but that was only useful if the settler was standing in between you and the crops/scav station/etc at that particular moment, and there was no structure in the way. Also, if the crops were at one end of sanctuary and the settler at the other, it was virtually impossible.
Anyway, now its all good - says "assigned" and has a little icon too which sort of says what they do.

How hard would it have been to make the settlers find something to do by themselves. You put crops in the ground - they're obviously going to need some care so what do the settlers do - nothing. Are they just mindless simpletons? I get fed up turning up at a settlement only to find them all standing around as if they're waiting for a bus.

Do you have Croup Manor, due to it's location close to a Brotherhood of Steel battle location and their flying gas tank of a vertibird blowing up nearby they all run off the edge of the cliff into the sea and hang around in the surf (outside the build zone) and don't return to the settlement.

I find that settlers will generally automatically tend to crops if left to their own devices, but have to be explicitly assigned to things like shops, scavenging stations, etc.

It would be nice if they just self-assigned everything though.

Yeah she kicks a little. lol

As said before I never bother with them anyway as I have my 3 go to weapons. Don't even bother with explosives either.

Might have to get the modded Gatling laser out soon though for some laughs! smile

Nope, I don't have that although I'll keep an eye out for it now smile

I'm currently migrating south and east to try and discover some new locations and clearing out places I've found previously but not been into seeing as there are no missions left. Still good fun though. Gunner's Plaza was a bit more of a challenge given the missle launcher AND Fat Man wielding dudes on the roof. There was no Fat Man last time I swung by but there was this time ... <whistle> wait, what's that noise? <kablamo> Well played Gunners, well played biggrin
Yeah I remember a similar thing happening to me. lol

I always work my way around the West side now and get up on the roof first. if you can stay un detected then its pretty easy to clear the roof sections out.

Anyone know what difference investing in a shop does? When I was swimming in caps I invested in a few of traders but the stock isn't any better and they don't seem to carry any additional ammo either?

think you need the emporium for the best selection of stock. Beyond that it is a bit hit and miss - mine never have any missiles in stock so I go to Goodneighbours or Diamond City Market. Occasionally my settlement traders have Cyro cells but never seen a legendary item.

It increases their cap limit so that when you want to sell expensive stuff to them, they have enough caps to be able to afford to buy it from you.

I don't use traders in settlements but I do have lots of provisioners wandering around the commonwealth, they always seem to have useful things on them and I can take anything from them (like a companion trade). They are not essential but they will only be killed if you are nearby and they are fighting with you, I have thought about treating them like cargo carriers, dump junk and heavy looted items onto them and pick it up later.

Today I head shot a Legendary Super Mutant Warlord on Survival with my Mighty Gauss rifle rated at 661. It was a sneak attack so 5.3x damage multiplier or 3503 total damage.
Took his health down to almost zero but didnt one shot him. So as this is my most powerful gun, it seems it is not possible to 1 shot a LSMW on Survival with any gun. My mighty quad barrel missile launcher does 830 damage, and the best sneak is 3.5x so that is 2905, still less than the gauss. Itappears the only one shot weapon on survival is the fatman, but it has to be an instigating fatman or a sneak fatman attack. All on xbox One. I'll double check this if I can get a clear shot at a LSMW or SMW with my fatman.

Bloody annoying that was... well, is. The update hasn't come to the consoles yet. At least not on PS4. Checked yesterday evening, but it was still the same. So it's still a bit of a hit and miss who is still jobless. I think I'm just gonna hoard all the BOS uniform and Vault suits I can find so at least everybody in Sanctuary is wearing something outside the norm.

2 questions:

1) what level are you?
2) was it a head shot?

Defended the Castle from the Institute last night. Blimey, what a pain.

I had setup numerous heavy machine gun turrets (didn't have the junk for anything better) and they just trounced through everything. I had about six survivors in the end and I had to do a lot of the work myself. Got killed a few times as I got chased by loads of institute gits.

Have been told my next mission now. However, I think I'll concentrate on some side stuff for now.

Did some (minor) searching, appears the PC and Steam users have had their upgrade to 1.3 allready, console users should get it sometime this week: https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/fallout-4-1.3...

Most important bit: (...) Added status menu for settlers in your settlements (...)

If you give all your settlers laser weapons, sit back and watch the fireworks show. Its very cool! Red lasers from the defenders vs blue lasers of the attackers!

If you sell stuff at the same time it doesnt really matter. I'm usually trading up to 2k caps worth of stuff at a time with each trader.
