1.3 patch didnt fix "Barney Rook's Bunker" - apparently when you find his house, his body is supposed to be there, upstairs, and he has a key on him that opens the basement access (only the key opens it). Trouble is, his body isnt there... Im not the only one affected.
Its only a minor side mission thing - i only care because theres a magazine in his bunker which is now unobtainable.
Have you scouted around the house for the body?

Spoiler for barney rook stuff
He's actually meant to be alive and shooting at mirelurks, you kill them and gain access to the basement and a mission to get the turrets back on. Reba/reba 2 sniper rifle is also in the basement +50% damage to mirelurks and bugs.

I had the quest "Talk to Barney", except there was one slight hitch - he was already dead. Anyone know how to conduct a séance in Fallout 4?

On the PC, that would be the @ key, point at him, say "resurrect", and then @ again. biggrin

Yeah the settler assignment is much, much better. Of course, I don't know what all the signs mean but hey ho.
They're fairly self explanatory I thought,

Food is a knife/fork shape,
Scavenger is a raven,
Shops are the relevant shop type or junk with a cap symbol,
I don't use defence posts, but I seem to remember they're a shield?

On a side note, it's quite fun hearing the siren activate and seeing a wave of super mutants get annihilated by my ring of death.

Yep, I know where the body is supposed to be - its not there. Its a known glitch:
"Barney will simply not exist, with two dead mirelurks at his house, and the "Inaccessible" gate open. This makes interacting with the quest, and his basement, impossible. Console commands may summon him. However for console gamers this may pose an issue"
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Barney_Rook

Anyway, I found the console command for his key, so have managed to access the basement anyway and get the magazine and Reba, yay!

Was getting my settlers into combat gear yesterday evening when I found out that not all Combat Armor is the same... I thought they all had the same base specs, untill I got some sturdy armor :/ I've been walking around in sub grade armour for a while now.

I think you can get your armour up to over 360 damage resist. But it become very costly for small increments as you progess up the scale. I got mine at 355 but could probably go 10 to 20 higher but prefer the benefits of My current set which gives increased AP refresh on all 5 pieces.

There is Standard, Sturdy & Heavy. They are easily identified in the menu if they haven't been modified, once they have then its impossible to know what item is what as the descriptions loose the sturdy / heavy mention and the images all look the same! Quincy is a good place to farm heavy combat armour - combined with a red flight helmet it looks like something out of mass effect.

I only came across the Sturdy set after I removed some of the mods on it... Bloody annoying that is. I have the Legendary chest piece you can buy from Proctor Quinlan, but that's now suprassed by a sturdy combat armor chest piece.

I'll go hunting around Quicny soon for a heavy set. I really like the combat armor looks combined with the dark green/black BOS uniform, only the helmet sucks. I've added a Synth Field helmet. Killer looks (without helmet, I added a military baret and patrolman sunglasses.

Spray 'n Pray - how OP a gun is that! biggrin As I still hadn't found an explosive combat or assault rifle (but plenty of completely useless perk armour), I bought this gun from Cricket having stumbled across a mention of it on the Web somewhere. Completely forgot to equip my charisma gear or take any deal enhancing chems, so paid more for it than I should have but hey ho.

Basically an explosive, silenced .45 machine gun with a great rate of fire and good stability

Give that my Commando perk still isn't maxed, it's a total beast of a gun - it can kill middle level enemies purely by being in the vicinity of the explosion let alone being hit by the actual bullets. Three super mutants (level 20-ish) downed in a blink of the eye.

I love it and it's a great companion to Overseer's Guardian. The only downside per se is that they use the same ammo and Spray goes through bullets like nobody's business if you hold on to the trigger, but use it in bursts and it's devastating

I may even un-auto the explosive shotgun as a result so that it's damage goes up to 300 odd with an advanced receiver equipped

Still want that explosive assault rifle though (and some more useful perk'd armour wouldn't go amiss either)

Spent a little time making a workshop in the Castle Armory

The chests Contain Armour and weapons respectively next to the relevant workbenches. The lighting is switchable.

Il add some power Armour stations to the other side of the room.

The type of armour also changes what defences it has, balanced between Energy or Kinetic resistance.

They all have 3 levels pre modifications, standard, sturdy and heavy, with heavy having the highest stats.

Armour choices are:

Raider - Tier 1, Low Energy and Kinetic,

Leather - Tier 2, High energy and low kinetic,
Metal - Tier 2, High kinetic and low energy,

Combat - Tier 3, Metal's kinetic and Leathers Energy,

Synth - Tier 4, Higher than everything else.

Combat armour at standard level is better than standard synth, but once at sturdy level Synth armour beats all stats.

Best armour score you can have (without PA), is Ballistic weave army fatigues and a Ballistic weave hat, with heavy synth nanoweave chest/arms/legs.

For armour I use Mantis armour (left arm, left leg) sold by Lucas Miller and Devastator's chestpiece and right leg sold by KLEO in Goodneighbour and Overseer’s Right Arm bought from Vault 81. I then use a couple of mods, Armoursmith Extended that allows me to wear armour over any item or clothing (jeans, T-shirt, Jackets, Kellogs outfit, Silver Shroud etc.) and another mod that adds an invisibility option to any piece or amour at the armour crafting workbench. So that I can wear anything and the armour is there but invisible and doesn't clip or look silly.

I don't go silly on armour, I think armour protection rating is about 174 but I have perks too that limit damage, carrying a few weapons, Overseer's Guardian, combat shotgun (rated 198, was higher about 208....odd) and a rapid firing armour piercing R91 rifle with explosive rounds that does 74 damage per round but rapid fire 2-3 times that per second.

Carry a set of glasses with a IR targeting mod (highlights anything living as red, like the Power Armour HUD) that can be used at night instead of faffing around with night vision scopes or day scopes.

Add to that 2 edits that firstly slows the day night cycle down, changing the time-scale to 6 (6 minutes of game time for every minute of real play time) instead of the default of 20. Don't go lower than 6. And another mod that changes the sunset/sunrise times to summer time making daylight last a little longer. So you no longer seem to exit buildings after a while and find it's dark........again.

Oh and a subtle green mod because if food is being grown then grass and trees would too.

Like that subtle green mod.

It bothers me that the whole wasteland it covered in dead and dying plants but nothing new is growing...

Green is a nice mod smile Can't wait to have mods on a console, though not all mods. Some feel like cheating to me.

Shame the Synth armour looks st. Combat armour still rules in the looks department. Now I only need to get that up to heavy and get the ballistic weave on my BOS black uniform.

To be honest I quite like it. Exploring and story finding/following is more my thing so the quicker I can dispose of annoyances the better.
I'm with you on this. I have never liked first person/RPG point based combat systems, shooting someone square in the eye and doing 5% damage because they have higher level eyeballs irritates the hell out of me, but I love the worlds and stories of games that use that system. I've played a bit of Fallout 4 on higher difficulty but found it easy enough, just more annoying. Although I can understand some people enjoy the increased tension while exploring on a higher difficulty, it doesn't really do much for me when you're just going to reload and retry anyway.

Have you only just got this? I have had it for a while but stopped using it. might go back to it as I have over 8500ronds of .45. Hmmm maybe I could turn it into a .38 and start using some of the 13,000 round I have! smile

Anyone found the boy in the fridge?

Came across him last night, most plot holey thing i've come across in the game, its almost like it's unfinished.

Was hoping I could send him to castle to play with robot shaun.

Yes, silly story. I went back to the house recently and there are three armed gunners around (types who wanted the boy originally), if you enter the house and get too close they start shooting, if you open fire on them the parents shoot at you as well. Silly.
