So it turns out that the survivor site was a very elaborate hoax. They went to some effort with that one. Had me convinced. To top it off Peter Hines has stated there will be no Bethesda announcement at the VGX awards either.

Rick-rolling.... Rick-rolling never changes.

Gutted that it's a fake, I was duped.

Credit to the hoaxer though, he set up a phone line that played the Tranquility Lane music when people dialled it, and the whole ARG stuff seemed totally genuine.

Cmon Bethesda, at least announce Fallout 4 is in development mad

I really need to get a hold of FO3 after reading comments on here.

Loved new vegas such a cool atmosphere.

Good hoax anyway, I feel for it and was looking forward to an announcement. I didn't get far with New Vegas, and it's been gathering dust, so I'll have to play through that now.

I guess Fallout 4 will be coming to the new consoles too. Probably my first reason/excuse to buy one.

That's when I'll get a next gen console as well and it'll be which ever box it plays best on ( suspect ps4).

I'm currently now looking at whether I can upgrade a PC I have lying around because I just discovered all the fan made mods for f3 and new vegas. I would play again with better graphics and weapon mods!!!!

I thought FO3 was much better than New Vegas, however I did enjoy both smile

Yep, the whole 1950's atomic style was much more atmospheric.

I thought New Vegas improved a lot of small bits (companion usefulness, reputation with factions, map variety) but somehow felt less than the sum of its parts. But in both games half the fun was seeing which ridiculous glitch you'd run in to next

Well, might as well put FO4 on the 'never gonna happen shelf', just next to Half Life 3, and another Master & Commander movie.

I wouldn't go that far. Fallout is far too profitable a franchise for them not to continue it. It could, however, be 2015 before it arrives.

Half Life 3 was recently registered by valve as a domain name.

For fallout 3 (and skyrim) mods, go to http://www.nexusmods.com/games/? for files etc.

Bethesda have a great working engine in Skyrim, so just one of those with post apocalypse graphics would be a winner purely on the strength of the brand.

Take the Aliens franchise, they sold a lot of st games on the back of that.

The next big push seems to be the Elder scrolls online which is going to be subscription based and pay to play which sucks, but Fallout vs Elder scrolls is roughly a reskin of the same game.

If you need a post apocalypse fix, you can also try Metro 2033 and Matro Last light. Again, very atmospheric, but I think in all I have put 200 hours into fallout 3, 50 into Metro Last light, and 30 into Metro 2033.
In fact, Metro can be more atmospheric in some ways, but it is a rigidly linear game.

Skyrim in over 200 and there's a lot to go as I haven't touched the DLC's.

I'm just waiting for a Fallout that is as polished and expansive as Skyrim.

Absolutely, I'd wager it will happen. Maybe not soon, but it will and it will be amazing.
