I started my survival run with low INT and so had some issues getting Righteous Authority to have any power - even with 50% damage bonus (adrenaline) I was having to 2-shot ghouls.
Luckily these ghouls have given me the XP I need to finally (After a few levels of building up!) get Science!, so I can now start working on RA. I'm going to prioritise critical hits with it...

I tell you what, all of the fog effects in Far Harbor really brings the frame rate down on the PS4 version - very chuggy performance in places
True, but Bethesda promised to make updates/improvements very soon.So what I have is AMD Athlon II X4 630 on AM3 socket, Ati HD5750 and 4Gbs of RAM. My thoughts are:
1. Double the RAM to 8Gbs
2. Buy the better GPU (Ati R7 360)
3. Buy the best possible CPU (Athlon X6)
The PC is being used mainly for work at home, so aside from gaming, it's good enough.
Thanks for suggestions.

BTW, I'm playing it on my PC, which is quite old to run Fallout 4 (although it's quite good with it). I thought of (very) mildly upgrading it, since I have limited funds, but got lost in all the new hardware.

Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows? If 32-bit then you will need to upgrade Windows if you go above 4GB of RAM. So what I have is AMD Athlon II X4 630 on AM3 socket, Ati HD5750 and 4Gbs of RAM. My thoughts are:

Assuming you're on 64-bit Windows then I'd upgrade the memory first. You'll see a benefit day-to-day (ie. not just gaming) if you add more RAM. 4GB is not a lot by today's standards.
After that, upgrade the graphics card. Look on eBay as there are some real bargains to be had as people like me tend to buy new current generation GPUs and then sell their old one on eBay. We also tend to really look after our stuff, keep the boxes and leads, etc.
Not sure how many hours I'm up to, I will need to check my save game.
Got to the institute yesterday - finally. No spoilers from me but I will say I was both surprised, shocked and disappointed. Pretty naff I thought.
Still haven't decided what faction I would side with. I'm thinking the Railroad, I like the Minutemen but "there's another settlement that needs our help" guy is annoyingly nice.
I haven't bonded with any of the major factions which must be the first time in any game that I've not strongly felt like "these are the good guys, these are the bad guys".

Tried the bell, changing companions and going round all the places I've unlocked as settlements. Still no sign of Nick . I'm going to do some other missions for a while and see if he pops up. When I picked codsworth as a companion it didn't ask me if I wanted to send Nick somewhere.
Although I didn't check his office once I had codsworth. I may try that now.
I will say that survival in this is more annoying than Dark Souls style games as those are quite heavily scripted whereas with all the DLC running you can run into a randomly generated group of high level enemies in an assumed safeish place in this.

I don't think it is a spoiler to say that if you don't take Nick to Far Habor then you will miss out on some great backstory development. I intend to do exactly this (ie. not take Nick with me) on my second playthrough in order to experience how it differs.

I lost Piper some time ago. She's never turned up.

What else could a girl want in a post apocalyptic wasteland?

Have to say the Far Harbor is very immersive, albeit worth little time.
The Shipwrecker fellow is somewhat tougher than normal fog crawlers

Have I missed something, everyone on the internet seems to be looking for Nick? I'm a few hours into Far Harbour, will I need him to do something or is that a spoiler for later on in the DLC?
Nah, I'm not using him, never have used him as I hate the voice. It's the same voice actor from Skyrim that was used on all the slimey characters. You only get to know more about Nick if you take him to Far Harbour.

As I understand it, you don't need him in order to complete the DLC but he has an interaction with one of the main NPCs of Far Harbor and you miss out on a lot of backstory of both Nick and this NPC if you don't have Nick with you. Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
