Here it is - It was during an online race. I'm on standard softs not super softs.
It's a bit messy in places but it gives a general view of how I attack the circuit.
Remember the bit you see at the beginning was directly from the pits so I wasn't aiming to be fast. Lap starts at 1:55

Yes that is a help, thanks for posting that. I see you using all the curb on the entry to Pouhon (i.e far out the right, straightening the corner as much as possible), I need to try that as I always feel like I am losing time there. I also drop to 3rd gear for Stavelot whereas you seem smoother keeping it in 4th.
You gain more time in braking than I do as you are able to do it later than I can. You also seem more stable on the brakes, if I lock up normally the rear inevitably seems to step out.
Is the tyre temperature thing an additional download, and if so where do you get that from. That would be useful.

Using an old Juan-Manuel Fangio trick, use a gear higher than you have been using in the corners, is always something to try and often works well. It's what he did at the 57 German GP when he pulled back over a minute to the leaders after a late pit stop, breaking the lap record lap after lap.

Done a thorough comparison (in true nerd style).
I'm a second slower than Asterix through Les Combes - 0.68 by the exit apex, leading to 1.0 by the 100m marker for Bruxelles. I actually made time up by the end of Bruxelles but it didn't last!
Slow through turn 9 - 1.2 seconds down by the time we hit the bridge before Pouhon.
My throttle off into Pouhon actually only loses me about two tenths as we hit the bridge before Fagnes 1.45 apart.
Another big chunk disappears through Fagnes, the by the time I'm passing the curb on the exit I've lost another 3 tenths (and I'm not using the curb at all!), approaching 2 seconds on the exit of campus - and 2.17 by the time I'm under the bridge at Blanchimont.
And just to rub it in - he takes the chicane a good 5 tenths faster too.

Oh, I forgot to mention I was a bit drunk doing that. I'd just hit the 2nd bottle of vino at that point.

I'd just have a Google - there are more complex ones out there.

Ok then - Macca F1 GTR, Standard Ring course. Deadline will be next Sunday midnight GMT.
RSR will validate.
One question though - would people be happy to include laps with Mechanical Damage set to 0% - I only as as it really is a git of a circuit to practice if you have to keep starting over and over.
If you start before the 'line' the tyres are cold and the beginning of the lap is pants or you start from the pits and effectively have to put together a 15-16 minute 'lap' each time.
Thoughts please chaps - We'll go with the general consensus.

Sounds good - I'll have a go if I can, although I am usually busy 24/7 these days sadly... I think I've logged one lap of the ring in the Macca on RSR already, but it was just a first go in the car when I got the expansion pack and I haven't driven the circuit for years so can't remember much of the second half of the lap. What I can say was that it was a fantastic combination and really kept me on my toes!
I'd personally rather have no driver aids whatsoever, including damage waivers, but I don't have very strong feelings about it and don't mind either way.
Even if I don't get a chance to have a go, I'll watch the lappery with interest as it's obviously a very different business heading off on a 7 minute lap where one mistake is punished by more than just a reset and a lost 30 second of time, as with other tracks.

My first stab two weeks ago got me a 7m33.123 (currently 81st on RSR), but I'll have a better attempt this weekend if I get the time. I suspect those of us with good ring knowledge will ace this - not sure about you Asterix, but I'm creaming it from the start line to the corner after the foxhole (Adenau Forst?) and then I'm pretty much lost from that point on! I used to know it well back in the GPL days, but as they say if you don't use it you lose it...

Not sure I know where that is as I haven't raced on here for years and can't remember any of it really - But I sort of know the first bits but have to look at the map to see where I am later on.I've put the track description on now.

That's the 90s slicks I think. They have a very narrow window of slip angles where they work well - I vaguely remember the F40 we hotlapped in at Imola last year as being just the same. Interestingly, I only discovered how unforgiving the Mclaren was once I started really pushing it at a shorter track that I know well - I never got to the point where it became tricky at the ring, I was just driving it like a road.
