Meh, updated my time but I think I give up. Asking way too much and getting way too low a return at this very basic level of experience. I can manage 7:30 but never clean.

Ultimately I will, but it's a case of biting off more than I can chew at the mo. Perfecting an easier track in an easier car seems like a better use of effort for now.

Ummm - I thought we had until Sunday?

I haven't even started learning the last half of the Ring yet.

I thought you meant this Sunday until I re-read your post.

That's cool, I will keep practicing at the Ring then. thumbup

Haha - great. I'm still trying to get to grips with the Ring, sadly letting myself down in the last section.

Getting a little better the in the last two sectors now but still a lot of time to be found.

First sector is getting there but I have been 2+ seconds up on the time above so if I can get 2 seconds off each sector I'll be getting close to a 6:xx time but the last sector is clearly my weak point by some margin looking at the top two times. Hard going though!

It's certainly a tricky circuit to learn, almost like it was designed to fool you in places. I read once that the ring, perhaps deliberately, has a repeating pattern of several fast corners followed by one that looks identical but is actually relatively slow, which makes sense. There are also a huge number of blind crests compared to other circuits!

We're back online now, although we're now away till Monday night, so I look forward to having a go at next week's time trial. driving ETA: And seeing what happens with this one! Unbelievable how close things are!

Getting there in the first two sectors - If I can get to grips with the last, I reckon I could improve by at least another few seconds.

It's that last sector that I am giving all my time away.

Not sure where I can gain 3 seconds, I must be doing something seriously wrong!

A slight but sadly limited improvement from me to finish the week:

trashbat Rob Pridham 7:35.931 1:54.171 2:34.593 3:07.167

I can do sub-7:30 easily enough, and I can knock a huge amount off that first sector, I just can't seem to string it together clean.

On the plus side, the week's attempts have left me able to get around the Ring in the more benign 4C quite reliably (albeit still 50 seconds off the pace) whereas previously I'd really struggled, so it's been worth it.

Probably my last attempt as I've got family around tomorrow.

Got the first sector pretty much nailed now. Second sector is getting there but far too much time being lost in the last. Just don't know the track enough yet to get a sub 7m time.

I dont have rsr but thought I'd chime in with a time of 7.05:365, sub 7 minute is possible I think with a cleaner lap. Great to see how close the times are.

First time using the softs at nords and didnt like the balance to be honest. How fast are you going at the end of the straight? Im braking at 181mph and I'm not at the limiter, the monster straight isn't long enough.

That was certainly a close run thing!

I thought it would be fun to run the Sauber C9 at Monza this week. It's a bit of a monster to drive, it certainly teaches you to be patient on the throttle! biggrin

I ran my lap on maximum boost and adjusted the gearing a little to get 217mph on the main straight. I also put the front ARB on the softest setting.

Hmm, it seems to me very contingent on boost & settings, which isn't my thing at all, but it could just be my initial impression.

Anyway I like the track, not so keen on the car, and I'm not here much this week.

Edit: that's with 80% boost and some gearing changes.

There's seconds still falling off that, but I may not have the time.
