What did you expect?
I seriously wasn't even considering getting this game until someone posted this :

Played it for around 4-5 hours yesterday, did the weird prologue and a few missions and a couple side ops.
Just got the interpreter so I can understand people I interrogate, useful!
Then spent the last 20 mins of the session knocking people out and sticking balloons on them!
Very different gameplay compared to the earlier ones if you didn't give ground zeroes a go.
Looking forward to getting more into it

Quaestion: Did the first mission, saved some guy, did my "Ruuuun, get to the chopper" bit and then realised I had hardly seen any of the map and all of a sudden I was at some oil rig base thingy.Do you go back, or do I need to reload and go have a good look around?
Also, it seems rather easy.I have turned off almost all the aids (auto aiming, markers etc etc) yet running in, standing behind a door and just shooting people as they approach resulted in me not even coming close to snuffing it.The one time I did get shot (didn't realise where the bullets were coming from) I must have taken about ten rounds in the back of the head and I just ended up a bit bloody.

I really suck at this game!
I'm only on mission 3 and I keep buggering it up. I try to get to a high place, tag as many guards as I can see, then either avoid/knock out/kill them, but I keep getting spotted.
The tranquilliser gun doesn't shoot through windows (ask me how I found that out...) and unless you get a head shot it takes ages to knock someone out.
I'm trying to fulton as many people as I can, so I get more people back at mother base as I'm hoping once I get better equipment/buddies it'll make life easier!

Ocelot tells you that wild animals need to be removed from the warzone, if possible. You come across a wild pup on one mission, which you can either leave or fulton, and it then lives on the basehttp://imgur.com/gallery/P7mKZGq
I've kicked my horse in the bks and sent it to the ground!

For such a polished game there are some annoying oddities.
Why no "plink" sound as the dart hits the window and fails to penetrate??
Why does the galloping noise continue after my house has come to a halt?
How can Japanese dialogue still be this bad without a hint of satire?
Good game though...

I've not played or even seen a MGS game since Number 2 on PS2.
THIS ONE!!!
Maybe the cutscenes aren't so pronounced when actually playing as opposed to watching a playthrough clip.

To be fair this is also what put me off some of the others too. I don't mind a good cut scene but the balance seemed to have swung too far over to sitting passively watching and not enough time playing, if this is more of the same I think I'll pass. I think on MGS2 the actual time I spent controlling my character before finishing the game was about 3 hours.I've not played or even seen a MGS game since Number 2 on PS2.

Anyone put off by the looks of those early couple of hours should really re-consider.

What are the chances that that flying kid with the gas mask is a young Psycho Mantis, or at least somewhat related to him?
Exactly what I thought when I saw him. I thought the guy on fire was The Fury from MGS3 the predecessor (timeline wise) to this. Can't be as Big Boss killed him in MSS3 though. Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
