fk me Mission 45 is hard! And you can't abort the mission, unless...

You fulton a container next to the ruins whilst on top of it and hitch a ride, think this is the only time you can do it, though I'm yet to try

I'm still trying to get a) more cash and b) my intel and R&D up to lvl 18

Just finished the Angel mission only to find to upgrade the Fulton I need better Intel and R&D.

And when does DD grow up?

Loving the game but it takes some time... Really loving it though!
Have you manually assigned any staff yet? I was in a similar position a few times - random example I needed R&D level 20 to develop an item, but my team was only level 18. I swapped a few staff around from other teams, got my R&D to level 20, hit 'develop' then reassigned the staff.

Worth checking, if you haven't already. You can usually bump a team level up by 1 or 2 with just a bit of juggling of staff.

I'm not sure when he grows up, I've seen Mission 10 quoted online, but it'll depend how early you actually find the puppy. Make sure to return to Mother base between every mission you do, as you'll need to trigger the landing cutscenes for his growth stages before he's an adult.

Whenever I try and ride a fulton I just slide off the container.

What's that all about?

I've been using the "Auto assign" but I'll try and manually assign them.

Cheers for the tip smile

Auto is fine the majority of the time as it assigns everyone based on their highest strength I think, so balances out your teams evenly.

But say I have 10 guys, who are S-rank at Combat, but A++ rank at R&D. I could swap them for 10 B-rank R&D guys. It would drop my Combat Team level, but increase my R&D Team level temporarily, if I needed to quickly develop a specific item smile

Then as I say, once development starts, you can Auto-Assign them back, you don't even need to keep the Team level high through the length of development.

Yep, it's worth a look. Easiest way is to remove everyone from R&D, then go to 'All Staff', sort that by R&D suitability, and assign all of the top ones to the R&D team. Develop whatever you need, then auto assign them again after thumbup

It may get complicated if you also need other units to have a certain level in order to develop something though hehe

I'm almost at the 'end' now..

Just did the second outbreak at Mother Base where you have kill the infected soldiers, that was pretty dark to be fair, especially when you go in one room and about 5 guys all salute you, but you still have to gun them down..

I've maintained Quiet via the Butterfly emblem, so Side-Op 150 etc where she leaves has been blocked. Just need to unlock Mission 46 now - the method for this seems to vary depending on where you look online, and the strategy guide wasn't allowed to reveal it.

I've met most of the requirements that people are stating though, but a few people on the Steam forums I believe were saying you need to have done 75 Side-Ops, I'm on about 65 so will bash the rest out tonight and hopefully trigger the secret mission smile

Secondly, regarding FOB's etc..

Anyone developed or captured a Nuke yet? I don't think I will, I want to keep my Heroism high and not put my own base at risk of tit-for-tat nuke strikes..

See, I was contemplating doing a second playthrough of the game, being a full demon. Just killing everything and everyone I see.

But I don't think it would be viable, as you need to Fulton quite a lot of people to build a staff for MB, to develop, upgrade, earn money etc..

Keeping an eye out (no pun intended) on the thread see if anyone posts a source
You can do a reverse image search too you know? Whereby you search for where that image appears online thumbup

It's turned up a lot of people posting it, but not much similar in their other posts...
I did a search myself, couldn't find the source though!

Could just mark the high ranks and wipe out the rest...

Yeah that's true, at the start I was just capturing every person I found and quite quickly my waiting room was overflowing with E-ranks.

Can you easily start a new game without losing the old save?

I'm tempted so I can get a Butterfly.

Absolutely loving this so far, one of the best games I've played this year an I have never owned any of the previous MGS games, nor been a fan of that particular style of game in general. This seems to combine several styles of game in one, yet does all of them superbly. It's a fantastic stealth game if that's your thing, it's a fantastic shooter if that's your thing, and even the base management side of it I'm finding incredibly addictive & rewarding. As for progress I've just completed level 6 last night and got my first 'S' rank. woohoo

I've been playing all side missions as they appear (and definitely not rushing anything!) so it's taken a fair amount of time to get even this far, but it's helping with development etc and I seem to discover new items/actions/tactics on every mission. For instance I had no idea you could C4 a leg of a guard-post to take it down permanently!

My only small complaint with the game is that it has clearly been optimized for a controller (understandable for a previously Console only series), this isn't an issue in-game as the mouse/keyboard controls work just fine after a couple of new key bindings, but the menu system is frustrating as there is no cursor support.

Do any of the other PC players know the command for bringing up the menu overlays that explains what is what? I think I've got a handle on everything now but I'd be interested to see the overlay nonetheless.

Also, if I want to replay a previous story mission to improve rating or complete previously un-achievable objectives, do I need to complete ALL the objectives again? Or can I just go in and complete the ones I didn't complete on the first attempt?

Lastly, I get how the checkpoint saves work 'in mission', but if I quit out of a mission (real life getting in the way) when I open the game again can I continue from that checkpoint or does it go all Borderlands 2 and make you start the mission from the beginning again? I only ask as I started mission 6 (honeybee) just after 9pm last night and didn't finish it till 12.30am! I'd have liked to have left it at 11ish but I was paranoid I'd have to start over if I did so I just pressed on... hehe

For the first part, yes you can as long as you reach a save/checkpoint. Completing an objection usually does this.

If you turn the game off it returns to your last checkpoint if you doing a mission, a godsend considering the length and complexity of some missions!

You can go back and complete any you like as far as I know.

The way it usually works, is there are (for example) 6 objectives to a mission. Only 2 of them may be mandatory, the other 4 are optional.

So on your first playthrough, you can do objectives 1 and 2, then end the mission and move on.

On a secondary playthrough, you can go a bit deeper and complete optional objectives 3 and 4, but will still need to complete the mandatory objectives 1 and 2 to finish the mission, if that makes sense.

I did this recently, went back and replayed an early mission where I'd only done the bare minimum objectives to complete it, but I needed to go back and also do an optional objective to obtain something / someone.

Sometimes it's beneficial to take the time to complete all objectives on the first playthrough, sometimes this won't be possible and you'll have to return to the mission again later with better equipment to complete the rest - it's mission dependent.

ETA: Regarding the rank, I think it acts as if you're playing the mission for the first time. So if you've previously completed 5/6 objectives, when you go back in for an S-rank you'll still need to complete all objectives in that sitting, or complete the mandatory ones quickly and cleanly.

Yeah that all makes sense, ta! I guess you would have to complete the main objectives in order to 'pass' the mission, sounds obvious now I think about it.

Yeah the main reason for wanting to go back is for completing things I didn't have the kit to do first time around thumbup

Completed Mission 46 this morning, thought the ending was ok, it leaves a lot of unanswered questions and there should definitely be a 3rd Chapter of the game. I didn't know there were special conditions to unlock Mission 46, it just appeared for me after a few key events occured. I'll probably go back and get all the S-Ranks then maybe, just maybe i'll let Quiet go.

Great game though, i've only got this and Batman on the PS4 and Batman has only been in the machine once. Plenty more people to kill and sheep to Fulton before i'm bored of this game.
