I fancy Mad Max, might pick up a used copy later in the year though.

Mad Max looks like it's going to be a terrible disappointment.

I used to love MGS ever since its first release on the PS1 but they seem to have lost their way and I thought both 3 and 4 where a bit pants. Hopefully this one will be a return to form.

Just not seen or read anything hugely encouraging about it and think it's going to be a generic, by the numbers game that doesn't really bring anything new to the table.

I think the car element looks pretty cool, changing & upgrading your vehicles. Also I can't help but feel the fact a licensed game being released so far from the films cinema lifetime gives the impression it wasn't rushed & maybe had some real thought put into it. In the trailers it's clear the games story doesn't seem to follow Fury Road at all. Also I did the love the film so that's making me pretty biased towards a game based in the same universe.

Interesting, They were my favourite ones particularly 3.

Sorry, think I got my numbers mixed up, 2 (the one with Raiden?) was pants, 3 was pretty decent and 4 I didn't like. I know long cut-scenes are an MGS staple but when you spend more time watching then playing then it's not for me. I think I finished 2 in about 3 hours actual gameplay (as opposed to the 10 hours of cut-scenes)

My copy arrived yesterday and it's a bit good. Not done much in the way of the story, just been doing side missions to build my staff roster so I can build some better gear. That and attaching balloons to every bit of animal life I see.

Game website is saying if you order by 1pm today, you'll get it for release day.

Mine was dispatched yesterday morning. Their tracking doesn't work, but I've got my fingers crossed it'll arrive tomorrow biggrin

I just can't decide whether to get this or not.

I have both MSG2 and MSG3 and enjoyed them both immensely. Would I have missed too much by not playing MSG4?

Did you get it from simply games?

Is 4 the most recent chronologically?

I never fully committed to playing the previous games if I'm honest, but I've watched a few Youtube videos that go over the whole story, background and characters.

It may be worth you watching one of those to catch up on the story bits you missed, but from most accounts you don't need any previous knowledge to be able to jump into this (though it helps)

MGS4 is my favourite! The cut scenes are long, but I enjoy them, and it pieces everything together, both story and gameplay, from the series. Also:

You get to drive REX and fight RAY on Shadow Moses Island!

Ignoring the PSP games, the order is:

MGS3
MGS Ground zeroes
MGS5
MGS
MGS2
MGS4

So you don't need to have played the others, there will nods to the other games, but most of it plays out after the setting of 5.
