Completed Mission 46 this morning, thought the ending was ok, it leaves a lot of unanswered questions and there should definitely be a 3rd Chapter of the game. I didn't know there were special conditions to unlock Mission 46, it just appeared for me after a few key events occured. I'll probably go back and get all the S-Ranks then maybe, just maybe i'll let Quiet go.

Great game though, i've only got this and Batman on the PS4 and Batman has only been in the machine once. Plenty more people to kill and sheep to Fulton before i'm bored of this game.
If you get 5 minutes dude, can you check these?..

1. How many Side-Ops have you completed?
2. Have you listened to all yellow cassette tapes?
3. Are all your Mother Base platforms at least Level 3?

Cheers!

I'm pretty sure you didn't have to complete the whole mission to pass "key" objectives.
You could just do the objective and then request extraction... ?

1. Think i've completed about 80/150 side-ops, done all the target practice ones and I think there's only one more Wandering Mother Base soldier, even rescued Hideo Kojima himself smile
2. I think there are a few yellow ones that I haven't listened to, probably the Huey ones as he is an annoying little git.
3. Yep. Mother Base is pretty expansive right now.

I'm only at 58% completion, there must be loads i'm missing out on to get 100% completion.

Yeah, I was kinda hoping there'd be a mission where you have to go and beat the snot out of that little stbag. No wonder he grows up to be such a dick, no one gave him a proper shoeing as a teen.

Cheers for that Baron!

I've got MB and cassette tapes done, so it should just be a few more Side Ops smile

S rank is all about speed remember - you don't need to do all the optional objectives, just focus on the main one, in and out as quick as possible.

The first replay mission - (Subsistance C2W) can be S-ranked without even leaving the chopper wink
You're right, I managed to S-Rank all the missions I hadn't done originally in about four hours. Seems a bit daft that a stealth/tactics game rewards doing the bare minimum as quickly as possible. Not complaining mind.

Spoilers for anyone who has progressed to about mission 23:

These fking stupid kids are pissing me off, so bloody annoying you can't just kill them and get on with the jobs in hand. They're combatants in a warzone, I'm not sure why we're forced to take some moral high ground - Miller even says "There's no room for angels in our heaven", yet he seems to enforce these daft rules about not killing the child soldiers. Stupid game design decision.

They're a bit annoying, and you don't have the Child-friendly Fulton until later in the game.

Shouldn't be too hard though, just take your time and tranq all the little buggers, then move in to take White Mamba. D-Dog is invaluable for the mission as he'll spot all the targets in the area for you.

The trick is to take out White Mamba without triggering the actual (annoying) boss battle:

When D-Dog has located him, so you can he his location on his throne, approach the door to his side, but stay in his blind spot. Throw a magazine into the room in front of him, and when he gets up, headshot with the pistol. If you climb the stairs to go above him, walk into the room or past his peripheral vision, or don't get a headshot, he'll spot you and trigger the battle.

I can't seem to unlock side-op 60 for the Paz bit. I've read you complete side-op 59 and main mission 38 to unlock it, but nothing seems to be working. Google doesn't help either, as it doesn't look like anyone else has had the same problem!

Have you shown her all the photos that you get when rescuing lost MotherBase (the original one) soldiers?

Yeah, there are 9 photos on the wall. Evertime I visit her, now, she's reading a book and drops it when she sees Snake

This game is now pretty much ruling my life! smile However, last night I was trying to finish off mission 12 (yeah, I know) and was escaping with Emerick from that Metal Gear on D-Horse and next thing I know I get a "warning! you are leaving the mission area!" try and turn back and then get told "I can't believe you abandoned the mission!

Curse you MGS V!

Will have to re try... sigh frown

I had the same thing happen to me on a different mission when I thought I'd take a side route to flank a particular objective- didn't pay attention to where I was on the map (well didn't even realize leaving the area was a thing!) and got the same mission abandoned thing- luckily I was at the start of the mission not the end! I'm much more careful now!

One thing that has frustrated me a bit is how the open world game zone isn't exactly as open world as it makes out- so many impassable/un-climbable cliffs etc, some that are barely taller than your character curse

I am currently on an early-ish side op (I've done 8 main missions and 10 side ops) and my closest landing zone to the objective the power plant is like half a map away. I thought no worries I can see a nice route on the map that will allow me to get there, alas it is all impassable so the only option is to take the snaking road all the way around, which involves going around/through at least 6 outposts (2 of which are unavoidable huge bases).

I spent almost 2 hours on that side op last night, had extracted approx 30 soldiers, rescued 2 prisoners, called in 3 re-supply drops, had been through 2 complete day/night cycles, and still hadn't got half way to the actual side op objective area... I finally got spotted after a smoke grenade failed to do its job, ended up holed up in a room, and eventually died to a grenade having taken out another 20+ soldiers in a fire-fight.

I had to re-load the checkpoint and it took me almost back to the start of the side-op, leaving me to grind through all of that all over again. Think I am going to give that side op a miss for a while and hope some closer landing zones unlock, unless I am missing something it seems a bit crazy that you have to get through that number of bases just to reach the objective area, and no back-routes/shortcuts through the 'open world' available frown

Yes, but I was trying to lose ahem, the BIG Problem at the end of that mission. I'll try again when I get in tonight.

Sigh, at least D-Dog and Quiet have turned up now.
