It's not the score. The object of the game is to create the tile by merging two 1024 tiles.
Ah right. If I had read the instructions I'd have known that. Never was one for instructions.

I'm up to 1024 on this. There is a similar game as an iOS/android app, called Threes. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/threes!/id77915794...

You have to merge the 2 and 1 tiles first to make a 3, then they multiply to 6, 12, 24, 48, 96, 192 etc. I've got upto the 192 tile so far. There's no in app purchase stuff, so once it's bought, it's bought. This and 2048 are wasting a lot of my time at the moment : hehe:

2048 Doctor Who Edition. http://games.usvsth3m.com/2048-doctor-who-edition/

2 Hartnell's make a Troughton, 2 Troughtons make a Pertwee, and so on.
A bunch of other versions http://www.cityam.com/blog/1395158848/five-new-ver...

That's just the back button for the internet browser on an Android.

Oh st. Good spot. I'll ask him about that. It's not on mine either in app or on the web page.

ETA - Apparently you get 2 on the Android app version! Told him it doesn't count then :P

That'd have saved me lots of grief. The number of times I've cocked things up by doing the wrong move then reversed it without thinking thus making the problem even worse as I now have two extra tiles... hehe

38,000? How the hell? Did you just leave 1024 and 1024 at opposite ends of the board for half an hour? biglaugh

Try under 30,000.

This game has ruined my life. Got a 2048 4 or 5 times now, high score is 26444 - I don't get much further when I try to carry on.

Someone asked for tips or techniques, I'm doing the same as most here: Pick a corner (top right for me) and keep your highest number there. Sweep left and right mostly, then sweep up when I can push higher numbers up a row.

My rules of thumb:
1) Keep highest number in top right.
2) Keep second highest number next to top number.
3) Sweep left and right to get numbers, sweep up to merge numbers. Never ever ever sweep down. Sweeping down makes bad things happen.
4) Never ever ever sweep left if the top row is not full, or if any cells in the top row are going to merge. Bad things will happen here too.
5) Generally speaking, the total value of each row at any time should be higher than the row below it.
6) Don't let small numbers get between big numbers. Especially on the top row. If I get a 2 between my 256 and my 512 on the top row, I usually just restart the game because it's the devil's own job sorting that out!
7) This is the most important one: Don't start playing this game at all. It will ruin your life.
