Problem with the Merc is its weight. Stupid Forza make a AWD-RWD conversion heavier??!!?? So it will be one big heavy beast

I would stick with B600 class, if it was me....as I just made up about 8 BTCC cars to B600 hehe I also built an 4wd Audi RS3, as there is the Rotek Audi S3 in the real BTCC. It's a 2.5L though, in Forza 5.

You will get vastly different top speeds if it goes to B class. A lot of the cars you can max handling to high C/low B then just keep throwing power in. At least if its in C you can balance between power builds and handling.

Another issue with running B class is what would stop someone getting the 1.6ltr rally engine and boring it out to 2.0ltr? A car like that would dominate EVERYWHERE as you just short shift at 5k and its a rocket.

If you guys don't mind, I'll have a go at replying to this one.
You might have a point about top speeds but I think it will end up OK. The rules on the 1st page which state 160mph Max top speed. When building the car, you need the race tyres,g'box, rollcage, and brakes, along with use of a turbo and rules for min weight and max allowed BHP . Throwing all that in the build does limit PI points leftover and hence any other engine mods. With the BTCC builds, it seems the only choice you have in the build, is whether to sacrifice HP for less weight or gain HP for added weight.
If you go C-class you will be ruling out some of the cars, as they can't be built to the rules and still stay under the C-class limit.
In regards to the 1.6L rally engine, I'm sure it would not be allowed as it would go past the 350BHP power limit. I also suspect you would go past the B600 class limit too.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant, it's not meant to be, I just wanted to reply to your the points you raised from your viewpoint on this.

I'm building a Scirocco R. Just a heads up that it has VW aero options as well as Forza aero, they're both adjustable and they give the same downforce levels, so I'm going with VW aero on it.

Spent more time testing cars today with a couple of mates. The regs are keeping the cars close enough for me to base my choice of car on which one sounds the best!

Basically, B600 stays along with the other regs. This is the first attempt at a series so we'll learn for the next one (fingers crossed there is one).

One thing that came out from testing today was the possibility of someone running away with the series so I want to know what you guys would think to applying a horsepower reduction based on results from the previous race or current championship placing. I took part in a Mini championship in FM4 that did this and it worked really well. I say that having been on the receiving end of the penalties on a few occasions smile

All seems fair enough. Is the Scirocco R in on the car list now?

I'm happy with that so go for it but please use the Forza aero! I know I'm being anal but that's one rule I wanna stick with even though it looks a bit crap.

Out of interest, why the FWD only rule? The BTCC has a number of RWD cars.

If it's to do with how much easier it is to put power down in RWD, how about two classes; 350bhp maximum power for FWD, and say 300 or 325 for RWD?

I think that might mix it all up a bit.

I'm going to try out some different ways of upgrading cars, I've spent this morning doing a paint. Even if you're slow, you've got to look good doing it hehe

To be honest I don't want things mixed up too much. The idea with the rules is to keep the cars as close as possible and it really works, tune some of the cars and you'll see what I mean.

In FM4 I ran a drag tyre endurance race with everyone using the same car and tune (Seat Leon SC) and it was brilliant. Racing throughout the field from the first lap to the last!

Trust me, this formula will work smile
