Pretty is one thing...the actual driving is what will make it or break it. Grand Prix Legends looks very dated now but still drives brilliantly.
Shift 2 still holds my record for quickest returned game - Shop-home-shop = 35 minutes.
I picked up shift 2 when our local blockbuster was going under, didnt get a chance to try it for nearly two months. Subsequently spent a grand total of 30 minutes playing it - terrible game!Shift 2 still holds my record for quickest returned game - Shop-home-shop = 35 minutes.
That trailer looks so good I decided to give the game another go before giving up hope shortly after first signing up over 2 years ago, glad to say not disappointed! The Shift feel has gone (woohoo!), and although it took me 1 hour to set up the correct wheel rotation for my DFP I can genuinely see this as taking future time on my rig from Assetto Corsa, iRacing and RF2 because it's fun! A good variety of road and race cars (some nice classics too) and decent circuit layouts (pre-brooklands/luffield Silverstone GP circuit anyone?) is refreshing without having to bugger around finding mods

And what a great game Shift 2 would have been had it not had that steering lag.One of my biggest diappointments in gaming.Shift 2 still holds my record for quickest returned game - Shop-home-shop = 35 minutes.
PCars looks good and have been awaiting it for some time. I hope it drives as good as it looks but concerned about what is being said about certain aspects of it.
Grid autosport will be supplying the arcadey fun in june so it needs to be a step on from that.

This is what it is, to me anyway. It's a fun game that has a variety of different cars and tracks, and the environment is engaging. The noises, pit crew speaking etc. add to the experience something that Assetto Corsa (and its previous NetKar Pro) just doesn't manage, the physics are great but the whole experience and environment is plain. If they can bring a better balance to the car physics and make it a fun drive then I'll certainly be playing it more.

One of the community patches did something about the steering lag (and does a lot of tyre physics tweaks to boot). As for PCars, it's not quite there yet in some areas, but they're visibly trying to get it right and it gets righter with every weekly build.
They've got a good cycle of patch > test > feedback happening.
Much respect for the devs, how they're doing it and what they're getting done. Think by the time they're done it will be as good as anything else.

I'm just as biased as Andy as I'm one of the devs too, but the game is so enjoyable to play that I often spend an hour or so just doing laps after work, and that's honestly the first time I've worked on a game and STILL wanted to play it. I even splashed out on a brand new G27 just to play it with the manual H-shifter and really powerful FFB.

Spent a while on PCars tonight (latest weekly build).
My god it's awful. The cars handle nothing like real life, the tracks are incredibly inaccurate, and sound is laughable, and even the graphics now have a very fake plastic look to them (I recalled them looking wonderful, but now it's lots of background objects that look fake).
No, it's definitely got worse in the last 12 months.

I've had concerns about the physics of the game especially considering the previous games put out by these guys and to be honest the overly defensive comments by the devs on here haven't exactly helped that. I've been following the game for bloody ages now and there's a constant stream of pretty pictures and videos but I'm still waiting to try the damn thing out!
For now I'll have to stick to playing Assetto Corsa which has cracking physics and is great fun to throw things around without any driving aids enabled. I've not quite mastered getting the F40 around the track without losing it though.

Looks ok to me, the main thing is, is it fun to play, is it realistically immersive.

From that video, which is a bit old now, the cars look far to floaty and seem to move unrealistically. The graphics are frankly quite important, and they look decidedly last gen as I mentioned. Worth noting I guess this game was originally intended for the PS3/360... perhaps that's why. I don't know. Comments I've read from people who have managed to play it haven't been that promising, but maybe the final product will be great.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0An5FS443Bw

They have trees, Tarmac and cars, they even have a mirror I can see the car behind in! What more could one want!?
