Really enjoying it too. Agree with comments about It being like FC3, but I loved that game. SO I'm more than happy that they haven't messed with the formula!

Also, how tight do you have to be to wait for a price drop to buy a game that you're interested in? What are you going to save? Maybe £10-£15? I'm shocked so many people are like that! I'll buy any game on a whim. I bought Murdered: Soul suspect for £45, and honestly played 2 minutes. I couldn't care less as it's only £45!
I take it your not playing it on the PC. We quite often get 50 - 75% savings within a few months of games being released. In fact for some games we get a massive saving before they are released, my wife got the Sims4 for £24.99 where Game wanted £39.99 and Origin wanted £49.99 (yeah right)

Been really looking forward to this in fact its one of the reasons that made me buy a PS4 in the first place after seeing the early previews of it. Also read a few of the first reviews of it though including the gamespot one and felt a bit gutted to be honest as i was expecting this to be an amazing game.

Reading the comments here though has reasured me somewhat. I loved FC3 on the PS 3 so if it is anything like that, even half as good I will be very happy! Probably pick up a copy this weekend.

It is worth £40. Let's face it, you will spend 10 hours at least playing it (hell, I've played for three hours and just discovered how to make poxy syringes)....

So that is quite good VFM to my mind (I am telling myself this as I just paid £45 for it yesterday!)..

Oh it also has an on-line element on the PS4 and a friend who doesn't have it can still join in your game!

It will be even more worth it for £25, plus by then the all the bugs will have been patched.

Everything about a PC game gets better by just waiting 2 months.

Hmm, Far Cry 3 is £15 on Steam, might get that while I wait.

The hunter's are absolute pricks!! I hope I don't come across them very often banghead

P.S. Any tips on using the bow? I'm crap, just like I was on FC3 frown
I find aiming a little bit higher than where you want to shoot and then quickly pulling down cursor/mouse when you've released the bow to work quite well!

I usually hit my targets that way.

Really really enjoying this game at the moment smile

Put in a couple of hours last night (PS3). Good so far. Intro not quite on a par with FC3. Very atmospheric environment, more so than FC3. Feels very similar, very much like an add on for FC3, not that that's a bad thing. However, FC3 was so brilliant I'm sure there will be some awesome stuff coming along soon.

Few bugs on the PS3 - scenery not drawing correctly (interior light fittings showing through walls etc) and the most annoying bug is the random throwing of bait. Exploring a cave, without touching a button, bait flies out, tiger in cave, dead. Keeps happening and is REALLY annoying. Tried awapping controllers, so don't think that's the issue.

Well screw 'em, I just won't buy it. Same reason I never bought Battlefield 4 either....

Quite. Due to various games I have wanted to play, I have to have Steam, Origin and Uplay clients all installed on my PC (although they are kept shut down unless needed).

I made the mistake of buying Far Cry 3 under Steam last time, and have the ridiculous situation where Steam launches Uplay which Launches FC3, and if either authentication server is down, FC3 won't play. Despite being a single user game (yes, ok, it has a multiplayer mode but you know what I mean).

I must confess I'm in two minds about buying this game right now.

On the one hand, I clocked up 279 hours in FC3 + 42 hours in Blood Dragon, so obviously I enjoyed it.

On the other hand, given this, I'm not sure if I can go through the whole grind of levelling up, crafting ammo pouches, gaining perks, etc., all over again. If that makes any sense.

Well, I'm glad I did my usual trick of downloading a torrent of a game first before giving the developers any of my money. The game has been a bit of a joke at release. People pre-ordering it, then it not being unlocked, people trying to run the game and getting black screens, or just random crashes and game breaking bugs... Not cool, ubisoft.
When I eventually did get it to run, wasn't best pleased. Horrible mouse acceleration quite notable and impossible to disable. Odd stuff going on with the textures not loading in properly, looks really strange. Frequent stutters in the framerate, dropping down to wtf levels at key moments, leaving you unable to react to the big scary thing about to stomp your face. Game save bugs. All sorts of things, check out the ubisoft forums for a laugh...
On the bright side, the gameplay when it doesn't spaz out is pretty good, much like a continuation of 3, or in fact much of a copy with different characters, as in some of the storylines and missions are exactly the same... Graphics are pretty when they display properly. Some fun characters and story development. Good fun, when it works.
Got to a point in the game now where it constantly crashes, after leaving the mountain prison and descending, the cut scene at the bottom black screens and crashes the game. What fun.
I'd suggest waiting until they fix the game before buying it, but could recommend it if it worked properly. It's just a total joke that a full priced AAA title is released in such a broken state.

You sure it's not the fact it's a torrent ?

Really? You do realise that the torrent release was an insider releasing it? I'm sure you do... Hence the torrent was exactly the same piece of software as was shipped to the day one customers. So, as per my previous post, look at the Ubisoft forums and read how many paying customers are rather irate that ubi sold them a massively broken game. But hey, I'm just a pirate, so what does my opinion matter.
Haha yes broken FOV slider on pirate copies! First release of the game didn't have an FOV slider, regardless of how you acquired it. They patched it in on the "day one patch" (seriously, if you have to patch your game after that little time...).
Just don't try and tell me that my version of the game is broken because I got it from a torrent, it is exactly the same as everyone else got on day one. The game is just broken. For now.

What about the patches though? Surely you wouldn't get the 3 or so that have already been out?

Edit: oh god a totalbiscuit link hehe fov makes him feel nauseous on every game he plays

Funnily enough, the pirate scene patched the game before Ubisoft did, hence how I was able to play it before the release date. Quite a sad indictment. Pirates patched the game and made it functional before the developers... Yes, with the patches applied and the new NVidia drivers it runs a little sweeter, and get the advantages of the patches, but still not super great.

No, we don't take the Jolly Rodger Times in our household.

So you have a copy of indeterminate origin (and build cycle) which has been tinkered with by people outside of the development project and who possess questionable ethics ? You counter a simple question with a bunch of self justification and indignation.

I'm not sure that any outrage is justified unless you've handed over your hard-earned for an official version & applied the official updates.

Had another two hours of this last night (on a non-pirated Xbox One copy wink) and am really starting to love it. Even when I'm not getting distracted ferrying lorry loads of munitions about, the exploration element is better than ever IMO. I found a canyon with lots of high-up platforms on the side that you could swing between with your grapple (it reminded me a bit of ninja roping in Worms biggrin), gently weaving my way up this mountain as the sun rose. Got to the top, found lots of loot/money and a few collectibles, then hand glided off to attack the outpost below with my bow and arrow.

It's rather pretty too. I'm only 4 hours in, but it's already looking set to be as fun as FC3 (surprise, it's the same game!). Can't wait to try co-op.

I'm only about 3 hours in but really enjoying it.

Bought myself a nice LMG with red camo, laser sight and extended clip too biggrin

Getting busy crafting stuff and getting the skills sorted as it makes the game more fun with more guns etc.
