Quick question though - there are some propaganda posters that are out of reach i.e. half way up a wall or something - how do you take those down? You can't jump and grab them and shooting them does nothing. There is one for instance on one of the first radio towers you liberate and I've tried everything I can think of. Being a bit OCD about stuff like this, I like to take stuff down when I find it and not being able to do so is frustrating tongue out
I think I have the same problem on the XBONE, probably the same tower. Couldn't work it out - maybe landing a buzzer on the roof and using that to stand on ?

EDIT: Found the answer - http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/192672/i...
I'm to embarrassed to say how long I climbed up and down that fookin tower trying to get that poster.banghead

I had no idea you could do what is shown in the link, obvious now looking at it.

Done a few little missions last night that seemed to open up the game a lot for me, basically the weapons I wanted unlocked bounce

Now running around with a silenced sniper rifle, silenced pistol, Shot Gun & Assault Rifle with night sight. The Royal Army pulled up right by me in a pick up, one shot of the shotgun and the guy in the back falls out all holey, doors then open and the two others fall out equally as holey, think I only put two shots into it hehe

I am now trying to decide my perfect arsenal:
  • Shotgun - Hunting/Defending against animal attacks and close quarter stuff
  • Silenced Pistol - Stealthy attacks from short/medium distance
  • Silenced Sniper Rifle - Long Range targets plus neutralising enemy snipers
  • Assault Rifle - All rounder and most used gun
I feel that I also need an RPG Launcher though, I remember them being devastating against enemies in vehicles on FC3, whats your ideal arsenal?

That is a pretty good loadout. I don't carry the RPG as a routine thing at the moment, I've not done many story missions yet though.

My current loadout is :

  • Revolver signature with red dot sight - Remarkably good at close range defence, finds headshots easily
  • WWII submachine gun signature - better than any of the 3 assault rifles I have access to. Also very good at killing charging animals
  • Silenced bolt action sniper rifle - for picking apart outposts from a distance
  • Hot slot - used for whatever I think the situation will need. Recurve bow if I'm hunting, usually. I'm using the 87 (sawn off 1887 with reflec scope) at the moment, it's like an ultra-melee attack.
I've found so far that I've not needed heavy explosive weaponry, as C4 was just as quick and less cumbersome. I agree that in FC3, the grenade launcher was better against ground based foes than the RPG, more testing will be needed here.

Also very effective against convoys.

The grenade launcher is a must have for me,perfect for jeeps, trucks, convoys etc and also getting rid of heavy gunners at close range.
The recurve bow is also very handy for hunting and stealth kills. The arrows do way more damage than most of the guns and the explosive arrows are tremendous and make a very satisfying bang!

-grenade launcher
-silenced sniper
-recurve bow with explosive and fire arrows
-assault rifle or shotgun

My loadout is the M79, M14 with silencer and scope, silenced pistol and M700 silenced with big scope. Perfection for me - the M79 is really effective against vehicles and great for taking out enemies behind cover (and heavies).

Loving the game. It does feel like an expansion pack to FC3 but I loved 3 so much it doesn't really bother me.

That was generally my FC3 loadout.

Isn't one of the slots in FC4 reserved fro sidearms though?

grenade launcher is a sidearm. I have only 2 places so far for guns and use the grenade launcher as my side arm

Oh that sounds good. That's one thing that always annoys me about games that give you a set number of slots for weapons without taking any account for size. Games like that effectively discourage carrying a pistol as it uses up a precious slot.
I always liked that Crysis & Crysis: Warhead had a specific sidearm slot (although in the case of Warhead, the machine pistol was so overpowered that it was more like a SMG).

How on gods name can you get into one of the castles/forts. I've tried on my own to get into the fort where you can walk up the side of a hill and get in.

tried about 6 times last night. using guns for hire to get them noticed. I've used fire arrows for the heavily armed guards. tried to sneak around. kill without being seen and it's not easy.

I managed to kill everyone, only to have a chopper try and kill me. I took that down but as soon as I did another turned up and killed me

Any idea or should this be done later in the story? I've only got to Yogi and the other guy second trippy mission. Sorry trying my best not to include any spoilers.
Bump any tips for getting into a fort? or will this open once you get further into the story

I got to a point in the story where it said 'This person's fort has been weakened, now would be a good time to attack it', wasn't much harder than any of the outposts.

I'm loving this game so far!

I was busy doing a campaign and at the end it said something like "You've killed him now, so it is a good time to go raid his fort". So I did. Oh, and it has a little chopper in it too!

My loadout is

Grenade Launcher as "pistol" - perfect for convoys, Lorries etc.
Silenced .50 Sniper (can take down armoured guys with a headshot)
Silenced Shredder
Either Crossbow or Compound Bow

You can tell I play sneaky sneaky.... In fact, as with FC3, I intend to take out every single base without being detected (It takes a few attempts as a rule).

Molotovs are used for animals (bears, tigers, wolves etc all tend to run for it relatively quickly)
Grenades I don't seem to use much, every now and then I just lob six or seven around at enemy for the hell of it.

Oh and I do also like to try to sneak around a base just using throwing knives too... Came a cropper now there are the heavy armoured chaps though.

Stunning thanks for the replys. At least I know I'm trying the fort to early.

Will hold off and continue with the story for now

Yep, that's the tower I was on about! Don't have any fire arrows at the moment and had completely forgotten about Molotovs, doh! I'll give that a try, cheers.
I've used this approach now on hard to find masks as well.

Good point. I found a mask in a cave that was behind some sort of grate that wouldn't open. It looked like you got it from the rear somehow but that seemed to be the mountain itself so I gave up. I couldn't shoot it, so perhaps I'll try a Molotov in the that situation too

It's a great game though, have spent all my time getting the animals I need to upgrade all the storage and things although I've hit the point where I need to do the special quests to upgrade most further. I also encountered "heavies" for the first time and couldn't initially work out why the LMG wasn't shredding them to pieces like the other bods

Grenade launcher is really cool although it does tend to blow animals apart as I found out whilst trying to take down a tiger that sneaked up on me smile No good if you want the skins

That's the one where I learnt the "trick".

I've been having fun playing some of the user created Maps doing the outposts. Some decent ones there.

Some of the hunting ones are a bit daft...did one last night where it was every type of animal in a pit with every weapon scattered around the edge and you just had to shoot them. Using the mortar on them was fun though

If you can't find a mask, just put your camera on and look around, the camera view puts a little objective marker around it, even though walls, ceilings etc. It's park of the "Gadget Training" perk.

I used the mortar for a fortress takeover & defending a camp. Very satisfying indeed.
