It has crashed on me once. What are your PC's specifications? What are your CPU and GPU temperatures at full load?
I'm running a 4.7GHz AMD 9590, 8GB RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 560Ti

I can run FC3 and Blood Dragon at full whack with no issues, I've turned many settings right down on FC4 to see if that helps and I'm still getting random crashes - I don't have temperature logs admittedly, but no other game crashes like this.

Intel i7-2660K, 32GB RAM and nVidia GTX980 here and I've had only a handful of crashes. Like around 5 in 50+ hours gameplay. Have you got the latest nVidia drivers? And have you let the nVidia Experience application optimise your settings for you?

Check and check. I'll try again after the next patch and next driver update, but after that I'll chalk it up to a "Ubisoft-ism" and move on....

Your system is similar to mine (i7 3820, 16GB and 980 GTX). I have overridden the GF Experience, because it disables some effects that work perfectly on a 980 GTX.

Yes, I too have bumped it up past "optimised" because, as you say, the 980GTX copes fine with it (especially in Overclock Mode).

Do you have to do the mission from the idiots in your house to progress the game? I've done everything southside (got the fortresses etc), the last campaign mission I completed was taking over the opium factory for Amita {?}.

Anyway, no more campaign stuff appreas on my map, only the "Y" symbol to go to my house and deal with the idiots! LOL

They then send me on a mission which leads me to Shangri-La for the first time, which I'm hating! I've abandoned the mission once as it was driving me mad, but ponly to find I have no other options on the map, except to go back to the house and see Yogi again!!

Yes, I think you do from what I recall - once done you can then ignore them for the rest of the game if you wish (I did)

From what I remember, you have to do the first one because, as you say, there are no other campaign missions until you do. However, after that you don't need to do any more of their missions (either drug trip Y ones or Shangri-la ones).

Cheers Guys,
happy with that, I'll just have to endure it. I got fed up trying to defeat the demon that spits fire (in the middle of the pond type thing) and all his minions.

If I remember correctly, you need to shoot the demon using your bow (use right-click aiming as this slows down time) which causes him to fall to one knee for a while, and whilst he is down you need to do a take-down on him. Rinse and repeat a further two times (so a total of 3). You can essentially ignore his minions, but if any get too close then they are all one-shot kills.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, will give that a try. smile

I did it the lazy way, set the tiger on it, and legged it up to the top and smashed the chain to pass the mission.

To unlock all skills, you'll have to do two of these crappy mission, on both I just set the tiger on them, then legged it up and smashed the chain.

Excellant, that sounds like my kind of mission success, will try that also. smile

Finished the main story yesterday, I bought it on a whim with a Christmas voucher about 6 weeks ago, have to say I've thoroughly enjoyed it..

Couple of parts slightly frustrating but overall really good, enjoyed sitting down and putting some long sessions into it.

I'm at the "wandering around mopping up side quests" stage although I think I'm pretty much done now (apart from the rest of the Shangri-La missions, which I don't really enjoy). So that's the game done for me. Although 56 hours isn't bad going for getting your money's worth.

One thing that I am noticing more and more is that spawning things will spawn in plain site. For example, you can be looking across a lake and a boat will rezz in a pixellated blur in front of your eyes, then drop a couple of feet into the water with a splash, and the then some people will blink into existence, and the boat starts to drive.
Likewise animals, vehicles, and the like will blink into existence.

Yes, I know it's a game. I know stuff spawns. But at least have the decency to spawn off-camera. It really ruins the immersion.

I'd been putting off the last ash fir-La mission, knowing it was a boss fight. Did it last night. Strangely old-fashioned. Now for the next campaign mission, which I believe is also a boss fight.

It's about time game designers stopped relying on the old "aim for [body part], hit it x times, then animation occurs, repeat a further 2x, then do random thing to finish fight" routine.

About time boss fights were confined to arcade games. They have no place in open world games that allow you to develop a stealth style.

"Deus Ex: Human Revolution" was a case in point. You could be so specialised in non-lethal stealth play that you were unable to complete the tacked-on boss fights. The Director's Cut re-release addressed this to some extent though, apparently.

I hated Deus Ex for that exact reason. It infuriated me intensely.

I got stuck the other day. Taking out an outpost, but the enemies hadn't actually spawned, although they could shoot me, I could not see them.

Loved the game; hated the boss fights. It was the first one that really got me. I had made my way stealthily through that whole complex, killing nobody, knocking them all on the head, hiding the unconscious bodies, hacking the cameras, doors and alarms, then suddenly I was ambushed by a knucklehead and had to kill him.

The DIrector's Cut improves the boss fights by offering alternative means of defeating the bosses, with new areas opened up, but it's not ideal.
