Given my propensity to spawn into a game at precisely the *wrong* moment, I got lucky:-

I've been fiddling with the server settings this afternoon, restricting the game modes to TD and Blood Money on small maps. Primarily, the Block level which is the only one worth writing home about. I'm just getting the achievement for 25 taser kills in MP, then it's getting traded in. There is almost no depth in this game, so no reason to hang onto it!
Well, that's the 'Electric Company' achievement done and dusted. Time to trade this one in.
I had noticed over the past couple of days as I'd focused in on this achievement and playing a particular class that you can make the game better.
Firstly, it thrives on the smaller maps but the only worthwhile game mode for any serious flow of action is somewhat strangely, Team Deathmatch. Now that is a dire mode on the 'bigger' maps because the spawns tend to rotate around the outside of the arena and hordes of enemies seem to flock to them and shoot you as you spawn. However, at least the deployment times are quicker. Some of the eight second deployments in other modes feel punitive, especially when you are spawn killed almost instantly on some occasions.
Now, TD isn't perfect on the smaller maps. It has it's faults - if lots of snipers play on Block, you can end up with an impassable no man's land in the middle of the level as the snipers shoot from the rooftops. That is a boring stalemate. Block is really the only map the developers can be proud of, I must say. So, the only way to extract some enjoyment from this game is play large TD, on Block. Yeah, it's fairly limited...
The weapon selection is also piss poor, I've mentioned that before. The starting weapons in each class are hopeless. The Scout Elite feels like it couldn't punch through a paper plate. The RO33whatever carbine from the Operator class is similarly dreadful. The starter shotgun is okay, great on certain levels but useless on the others. However, you have to play with it if you want to unlock the Battle Rifles, which are the best guns in the game IMO - however, even they start off pretty dreadful and don't become really worthy until you unlock a scope and heavy barrel.

Not tried the ACWR yet but looks like it has zero recoil.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrQ9bM3UxV8

Nice! I struggle with those types of kills but I see that I am probably not helping myself by looking down the sights when firing.
Had some fun over the weekend on the motorbikes. I must have ran over about 5/6 people in quick succession. I've also become adept at using the sabotage tool. It is almost as lame as the noobtube.

This is my problem (well, one of my problems!) with all the guns, my instinct is to aim before firing and I often get killed first as a result!I still suck but, I'm still enjoying the game immensely! There has been some gradual improvement and my kills are now occasionally in double figures (which is really good for me!!) but, I am very inconsistent. Blood Money is my favourite mode by far, followed by Hotwire for the money and XP. Heist just confuses me and as for TDM, well I'm sure you can imagine...
Give Conquest a go. That is the original format for Battlefield (or rather one of them!) and is essentially Hotwire but with fixed capture points on the map- the team that doesn't hold the majority will have their tickets bleed. If they drop to 0, the other team wins.
The reason why I suggest it is because it is easy to see where on the map the enemy are and are running too, e.g. if they've just captured points A and B, with C close by, they'll be heading to C. Also, the fixed points are like honey traps. It should help aiming as you'll be able to see people running too and from the capture points.
It is a great game mode in its own right anyway.

The spawning "issue" has been there for a while. I'm not sure it can be fixed though- a couple of seconds of invincibility is hardly in keeping with Battlefield. I've started to wait a second or two extra and wait to see if it is chaotic before spawning in. If it is, I'll wait or spawn elsewhere. It has reduced my insta-deaths.
A couple of videos as uploaded to the Destiny clan forum (for their benefit mainly):-
Very lucky double sniper kill at the end:-

Motorbike and n00b-tube on Downtown. Specs- you got a double!:-

and given the Clan's obsession with "G-nade" kills, an anticipated armoured SUV double kill:-

Okay guys as a relative newbie to Battlefield Hardline can I just say it's one of the most frustrating games I play. What's with the variable re-spawn timer which for me at least means an average 7 second wait after instant death each time. I spend more time out of the game watching a useless kill-cam and then a 7 sec wait before I can get back into the game. The damn timer varies too so there is no consistency or reason for it's inclusion other than to waste time and frustrate.
Anyone any idea what function the timer is meant to perform (as opposed to instant re-spawn) and what makes its countdown vary? Am I the only one to feel pissed off with this feature and the pointless kill-cam which actually doesn't show your death anyway?
I was told that those paying for Prestige would get a shorter timer and to be honest it's so frustrating that if I hadn't been mug enough to pay for Prestige I'd trade the game in.
Any views on this welcomed.

The timer is essentially a 'cooler', to keep the game pacing right. It stops the instant drop in like COD has because you can spawn on teammates. Ostensibly, it should protect the flow of the game, by stopping a squad making an unbeatable charge simply because they can respawn instantly off each other. It also adds to the game by making death feel more significant than it does in say, COD, so you're encouraged to play a little more slowly and tactically. However, in the best modes in Hardline, it feels punitive. I hadn't heard that Premium players could respawn faster, but it wouldn't surprise me!
One thing that especially irritates is that with the random spawning in TD being goofed, you can easily spawn and get killed straight away, which makes for a long and frustrating sitting out session. I suppose it's testament to how much of a flop this Battlefield is that the PH thread on it is so dead.
