Okay chaps, my assessment after 4-5 hours of play - I don't like it at all.

It's just not like the BF I know and love. No tanks, no LAVs, seemingly non existant team work on either conquest, and the dark map, (hollywood or something I think it is?) I'm finding it extremely hard to get a kill streak of 2 or more going.

I'll give it another few hours on Monday before deciding to put it on eBay and go back to BF4.

Why I'm liking it' the army scene is getting abit boring now, nice to have some thing alittle fresher and different, just enjoying this and destiny to be honest, COD & BF4 don't get alook in

Anymore thoughts on this game? Is it worth buying or abit of a disappointment?

I hate it. It's far far too much like COD for me now, which is why I went to BF in the first place. I'm 99% sure I got quickscoped last night which is another reason I started to loathe COD.

Putting my copy on eBay this week, Project Cars will hopefully fill the void smile

I've started playing this evening and it is fantastic. I've been an on/off Battlefield fan. I loved the Bad Company games, hated BF3 and didn't bother with BF4.

The cops and robbers dressing certainly lends some refreshment to the formula over the tired military settings we've all grown so sick of. The maps seem pretty good too, being flexible in size to suit the game modes and well designed so as to make the classes fairly well balanced in most cases, commonsense applied, of course.

The Blood Money mode seems great fun. A refreshing change of the classic CTF and bag grab modes, I really enjoyed playing this one tonight on the Hollywood Penthouse map. Yes, there are no tanks and the shooting action is more central that ever but the lace is eminently more measured and considered than COD.

I also think it is great. Mind, I say that having been a big fan of the Bad Company series as well as the usual Battlefields. I did think that BF4 had too many customisation options for weapons and load-outs although I still loved it. Sometimes less is more. That being so, it is pleasing to see only a handful of guns available for each class (at least at the outset).

I'd recommend the game-mode "rescue" to dispel any suggestion this is like COD. It is basically 1 life per round and best out of 9 rounds (with teams switching sides at half time). A squad of 5 plays as cops and another squad as "robbers". The cops need to untie and take 1 of 2 hostages to an extraction point or kill the robbers within a time limit and the robbers need to stop the extraction or kill the cops within the same time. 1 life makes it very tactical and very different to the run and gun style- the people who join with that intent leave very quickly. It's great fun with a bunch of mates and reminds me of the original Gears of War.

Hotwire (conquest but cars are the capture points) is also great fun, particularly given the ability to pop out of a window of a moving car and fire. High speed chases are v fun but the handling dynamics of the cars are a little iffy. It doesn't take long to adjust though. Breaching charges strategically placed are... fun hehe

BF needed a shot in the arm to freshen it up. I think this hits the spot. smile

So, exactly like Search-and-destroy mode from COD then wink

So far, I have only spent a couple of hours on the single player campaign (never played any BF titles before so, trying to get a handle on the controls before diving into multiplayer) and I'm really enjoying it.

It looks amazing! Textures are extremely detailed and everything moves very fluidly. The gunplay is going to take a while for me to get used to after months of Destiny but, hoping to get some multiplayer with friends in this week as, that is where I understand this is supposed to excel.

I think it's a great game.

I probably prefer BF4 for the range of vehicles alone, but it's still a great game with some interesting maps and gameplay modes.

Excellent work, dude.

The gunplay WILL take time to adjust to as it is so different- less solid in fact. It can be frustrating (I wanted to throw my pad out of the window on Saturday hehe) but persevere.

How different does it play compared to BF4? I'm hesitant at the moment..

That's a really hard question to answer. It is unmistakably BF- the buttons, the feel of the SMGs/rifles and other guns carried over, the animations, levolution and the size/scope of the maps. On the other hand, as mentioned, the lack of tanks and proper hardware (AT mines, RPGs being a load out) and more "civilian based" maps make it play very different. The new game modes are also different but conquest is just the same (thank god). I think it is great fun but I loved BF4, so I am biased.

Somebody suggested that it was glorified add-on to BF4. I think that is a little harsh but it isn't a million miles away either.

I loved BF4, little too obsessed with states, leaderboards show me as most accurate shot in my area smile something you must always say on a first date kind of thing! haha.

Does it handle the same as BF4, have a standard death match mode or normal conquest modes. If yes, I'll buy it!

It's like a big DLC for battlefield4.

It does handle the same and it does have those modes- conquest small and conquest large as well as death match. If you loved BF4 then you'll *probably* like this. It does take a little time to get your head around though- using zip lines and grappling hooks instead of UAVs etc.

Just started the single player mode tonight. I really like it. Playing on Veteran from the off, seems like a good way of doing things.
