At least Project Cats is out next month
That's one game that needs to be made! I found out something interesting today ... If you head for the Saint-Martin car meet, you can do drag races down the airfield against online opponents. Nothing special there. Everyone picks the Ultima GTR, the Alfa, or any other X999 car in their garage ... However slower cars are given a head start. If you max out the engine mods on a Plymouth Cuda, it becomes a high B class car, with a huge head start! I've been beating all the usual cars with it, much to the dismay of others!
Joined the PHer club, I'm sebhaque (amazingly).
First impressions are a bit mixed. It's a brilliant game with the magic of the first Horizon - but it's been dulled somewhat. The constant influx of other cars really doesn't help much, especially as they're programmed with the Forza 5 mentality of completely ignoring any collision detection systems. The amount of times I've strung together a 60k+ combination, only to have it wiped out by some CPU-controlled gamertag turning left to go off road for no reason is infuriating.
I also took the time to explore the map before getting too involved in the storyline. Very minor spoilers - pretty pissed off that I grabbed the XP boards prior to joining a club as I've wasted that XP on stty wheelspins.
All in all it's not the worst game in the world, although I do think it's a bit lackluster compared to the original Horizon. Much better than Forza 5, don't get me wrong, but I can't shake the thought that this game suffered similar rushedness that Forza 5 did. It's crashed twice on me and the aforementioned issues could really do with getting sorted, as opposed to putting emphasis on Ben telling you for the 10th time what a Circuit race is, or ANNA telling you for the 1,000th time that someone in a very fast car is nearby and she's added them to your GPS.

Horizon 1 seems to be looked back on with those tinted glasses here, it wasn't that good. This one has more cars, tuning, a bigger, prettier and better map, more rewards, better graphics, better handling. It's far from perfect but it's as close to unmissable as an open world racer has been since TDU2.
I'm probably the only mug here who isn't on an unlimited broadband package (changing soon anyway) but Jesus this game gets throug it.
I guess it's the near constant streaming of drivatars and stats etc but have played for about 8 hours and gone through 11gb worth of downloads and 1gb of uploads!!
Other than that enjoying the game massively.
Only thing that I would do without is the off roading across fields as with the in car view I can't tell where the hell I'm going.
Rallying down dirt tracks was all it needed as this is much better than the last horizon where the rally mode just switched the Tarmac to dirt

The original Horizon had rally pack DLC which was awesome. Offer than on Horizon 2 and it'll be even better. Loving the game so far. Can foresee many an hour wasted (if the wife allows) in the endeavour to 100% it. Someone would turn up in a class D car and make everyone else wait for them to have their 10 minute head start.
That would be me...I get a lot of satisfaction from hearing "Ganbanger 666 Murdah" mouthing his pre-pubescent ass off over how I'm 'cheating' because my D class Escort gets a head start on his X999 McLaren F1

How bad is the rubber banding on it?
It isn't like that at all. Generally when I'm watching videos though it seems bonkers, cutting over fields and through lamp posts... any resemblance to real quality driving like you'd see people do in TDU1 for example, is totally missing.
125mph over fields in a Ferrari, sure
A shame that there is no sim/strict game-play mode for players who want to enjoy the cars more like they'd be in real life, rather than toy-town style.
Also it's quite hard to gauge the quality of the game from videos as it's all joy-pad users and it looks wooden and artificial. I wonder if it's actually any good with a wheel or not?! If there are even any decent wheels for these next gen systems (read not over-priced and locked to one console)

You can turn damage on, so in the banger racing first corner you can get pretty messed up for the rest of the race.
If you can have more serious racing in there with other on-line players then that sounds nice.It looks nice, and sounds good too.
The main thing then is having a decent wheel and being able to try out the physics.
So far it seems a G25 wheel would be no good, so for the game, Xbone and a wheel it's about £600+ to try this game out properly.
Seems a bit of a fail not supporting wheels that work fine in DirectX on a Win machine!

It is fantastic with a wheel, you can feel the change in surfaces, the car clipping and mounting pavements and allDave
The difficulty I have is catching oversteer or drifting with the full 900 degrees of lock! Thankfully you can dial it down in settings.
