New cars announced include a Capri!!! Joy!!!
And a Bowler! http://news.xbox.com/2014/08/games-forza-horizon-2...First impressions of the demo:
It's very pretty. Incredibly pretty. There are a few low-ish resolution textures on walls and things, but you won't notice unless you stop right in front of one.
It's incredibly fun. It really feels like the next Project Gotham Racing game – drifting in the RS3 in the wet on hairpins is a real pleasure.
The music won't be to everyone's tastes, but it sets an incredible atmosphere from the opening shots, and includes some of the best summery music that's been around this year.
It appears to have proper Forza car tuning in it too – can't remember if this was in the original FH? I'm talking about changing tyre pressures, toe-in etc.
So far so yay!
Oh yes, and it's a large demo too – lots of races, and it has demo-specific stats (x out of x roads discovered in the demo, x out of x speed cameras triggered – that sort of thing).
ETA: How could I forget? The trails of flattened plants you leave as you scythe through a vineyard in a completely out-of-control drift are great – you can go back and see where you ploughed through a farmer's field.

Just started the demo a little while ago. I don't usually bother with demos these days as they can spoil things, but this is a racing game so it's hardly likely to give the whole game away on roads I will enjoy driving again.
First off, the game comes across as very irritating. The whole 'Horizon Festival' schtick is dire. Loads of chavs dancing to st music in a field I get, but why are there hundreds of supercars turning up to race around it? Bizarre. And the over-friendly voiceover bloke chuntering on like a st DJ, urgh. fk off and let me drive. The music selection is pretty awful as well, the usual selection of tunes chosen to appeal to 15 year olds which will go stale faster than milk left on the bench on a hot summer's day (just try playing an old DIRT game and see what I mean).
One thing which also grates is the 'push to pass' Drivatars from Forza 5 seem to have returned. The initial drop-in to the Huracan was nice, especially when you consider the dowdy Gallardo that it replaced. However, the race down to the festival site was unsatisfying, because every time you got ahead of the pack you'd rubber-band straight into another pack of identikit supercars, no doubt meant to keep you feeling like you're constantly duelling all the way to the end of the race, but instead suggesting that there is no real point in pressing on to the front of the pack. And immersion is quickly destroyed when you realise that the Huayra next to you is willing to clash wings and push you off course mid-corner so it can pass - not even the oil barons of the Middle East would be so reckless with a car worth a million pounds.
Test Drive Unlimited carried off the premise of the island racer with so much more class, mainly because it never looked too hard at why a bunch of playboys had just landed and started buying clothes, properties and performance cars. The intro to Horizon 2 is both beautiful and horrific. The footage is incredible, particularly the shots of the Lancer Evolution driving around the vineyard. The voiceover though, wrapped around the footage of the bellends going to the festival, is awful. It's one of the most painfully pretentious loads of rubbish I've seen in a long time.
Overall though, I won't be cancelling my order for this game because I think it will be pretty fking good once you get into it. The car handling seems much improved over the last effort, it's not exactly Forza Motorsport in it's quality but the cars feel a lot heavier and react more realistically. The sounds are great and the roads look fantastic.

Never really got on with the first Forza Horizon, and after playing this last night it'll be the first Forza game I won't be buying.
Just far too arcadey in all ways, in some of the races I barely had to lift off the accelerator the whole way round. Going off the road/track hardly affects the cars speed as does bouncing off the scenery or other cars. The braking also seems impossibly efficient, being able to pull up from very high speeds in ridiculously short distances. The underside of the car models were poor with just a photo of the underside of the car on a flat surface. The whole story seems the same as the first Horizon and the "Rivals" challenges after ever race are pretty pointless. Really disappointed, as I feel that with the proper Forza 5 driving dynamics this could be a good game.
I'll be going back to Forza 5, which is simply superb.

Yes, I did find it a little silly that during the race to the festival I followed the race leaders over a vineyard in effort to cut out a corner about 100ft long. Again, destroying the immersion. If only the cars handled like they do in Forza 5. Though as I say, the handling model is now a noticeably more 'Forza' and feels more satisfying.
At least there seems to be plenty to do in this game, unlike Forza 5 which is still a deathly dull package and a let down 12 months on. I'll no doubt find much to enjoy in Horizon 2 but I just wish they would actually build it for Forza fans. The developers carp on that they build it for a different kind of player to the guy who enjoys Forza Motorsport, and then most people roundly complain that Horizon looks fantastic, but that the gameplay is not realistic enough. Forza 5 doesn't help the situation with it's awful selection of tracks.
