Forza Horizon 2 announced.

I had a go at the Xbox One demo for this the other day, and I must say the whole festival thing is dire. That whole "I will count to 10" intro sequence had me wishing she'd just get to 10 already and shut up. The driving was fun, although the rubber banding wasn't but Forza Horizon 1 lived on rubber banding and this will be the same. The off road destruction derby section was a bit naff, seeing a road going Evo X doing 110mph over farming tills in the fields like it was nothing, er, ok.
Not normally in to this type of game but I thought I'd give the demo a try. Well it hasn't converted me.
If the festival setting is your thing then fine but for me it was massively irritating. Chavving around in cars doesn't do much for me either. Theres not much of a challenge in hooning around with the throttle nailed the whole time. I'm just going to wait until project cars Comes out!

I first played this the other night and I really didn't like it at all. It felt totally unrealistic and the whole festival thing was corny. I wasn't a fan . Despite this, I thought I'd give it another go today. This time around, I adjusted all the driver aids and put everything on simulation. I also adjusted the volumes, turning down the SFX, tyre squeal, DJ etc along with turning the engine noise up! I turned the speakers up and jumped straight into it and I have to say I felt totally different about it. Yes, the festival thing felt corny, but everything else was great. I was totally immersed! I'm definitely going to get the full version now!
Eurogamer's review (and most other sites' reviews) is up. 9/10.

It's going to be a busy season for racing games, with sim hopeful Project Cars, ambitious online "CarPG" The Crew and the social score-attack of DriveClub all jostling for attention. Horizon 2 sets an intimidatingly high bar for those games to meet on every front, but in one aspect it seems unbeatable. I can't imagine any of them are going to feel this happy.
