No. Retail £47.99, unless you have a nectar card with points to spend, in which case, yes.

I think you get half price vouchers, in £10 increments when you spend nectar points. I used £40 worth of nectar points, which after the offer was applied only cost me £20 worth and paid the remaining £7.99.

It seemed quite convoluted when she explained it in the shop. I linked the nectar page (which I didn't read thoroughly) assuming it would clarify.

I don't know if I have the patience or more importantly the time for this game.

I have a big catalogue of unplayed games I've wasted £££££ on over the years...

Probably end up downloading it when I get back from the pub anyway

How fking hard is this game???

I consider myself a pretty competent gamer, but I'm just getting rinsed by the first enemy you encounter.

Don't think it's really a spoiler (for first fight only) but I'll do it anyway:

I'm starting to wonder whether you're actually supposed to be able to kill the werewolf bare handed. I've come close, but it seems to just hover on zero health and I end up getting caught by a stray slash or whatever. I've died about 8 times already in the hour or so I played last night (admittedly most of this was creating my character boxedin ). Am I just stter at games than I thought or am I missing something obvious? Is there a weapon you're supposed to pick up after you've woken up from the table at the start?

This post fills me with dread! I'm a fairly competent pick up and play gamer so I'm beginning to think I may be out my depth with this one.

Won't be picking it up until tomorrow, off to the pub tonight.

Got this on Friday but not had much time to play it - only managed about half an hour. First impressions are less positive than I expected.

I'm a huge fan of demon / dark souls on the ps3 so was expecting more of the same. The game mechanics are familiar - same rolls, same attacks etc. And it looks like you collect blood vials the same way you collect souls in the other games.

Graphics are fairly underwhelming at the start. Dark souls 2 has some amazing vistas on the ps3, but the start of bloodborne seemed nothing special - even the cut scene.

I also wonder if the setting will make a difference too - I liked the whole fantasy / magic / demon thing in the other games and in the short time I tried it, Victorian horror didn't seem quite the same. The fact that crossbows and magic appear to have been replaced by guns fits the game setting but made it feel a bit more like fallout to me.

Will see how I get on with a proper play - but may well still be buying the ps4 version of dark souls.

First impressions from having played an hour or so last night:

Wow!

Off to a fantastic start. The graphics are beautiful, the vista as you enter Central Yarnham for the first time is quite amazing. I like the level design too, it seems to have gone back to a more inter-connected design similar to Dark Souls, rather than the flat and expansive levels which seemed to make up Dark Souls 2.

The combat is excellent and feels as good as ever, although I couldn't comment on the changed pace compared to Dark Souls. It does feel a little a faster and is definitely angled towards a more aggressive style of play, but I still found the rhythm quite quickly, substituting dodges where previously I might have blocked and using the gun to blow enemies backwards to create space.

I can't wait to sit down tonight and get a little bit more.

Yep, defeated first boss.. Finally finding my way thru this game and getting to grips with the rhythm of defeating enemies. It's certainly the best game I've played since maybe the first Resident Evil.

Yes, it is impressive.

I farmed the pair of werewolves for a while to level up some stats and combat has clicked.

Caved in and bought this yesterday. Even though I paid £54 for it at Game, it was well worth the price. Hours of entertainment and probably one of the best games I've played. Defeated the first two bosses and have just started the cathedral stage. Would recommend this to anyone who has a bit of time on their hands!

I've just beaten the Cleric Beast boss. Surprisingly, he was pretty easy with a couple of levels on my bladed cane. Kept close to his right hand hip and used quick attacks to chip him down. I was baffled initially with the levelling up system, as I couldn't work out where you were supposed to level. In effect, until you get the ability to level up, the start of the game is just a hard tutorial based on memorising where the enemies are and how to defeat them. I used the werewolves on the bridge to level up for a bit too, if you go into the house halfway across the bridge, they can't go through the door and you can chip them down from afar for a decent bit of XP.

I'm surprised by how much the game feels like the original Dark Souls. I loved Dark Souls 2, but I can see why it was criticised and in Bloodborne, you really get that feeling of tension and exploration that was somewhat missing from the Dark Souls 2. There is no clearing out areas of enemies before progressing, and less clear demarcation between the zones which means you're rarely sure the path you're on is the right one as you explore. The level design seems layered and intricate, with doors and elevators unlocking as you go to link the area back up. In that sense, the area around Central Yarnham and the Aqueduct feels like the castle of the original Dark Souls game.

The rhythm of the combat hasn't changed a great deal and this is for the better. The fact that a quick retaliation when you're hurt can regen some of your health is a neat touch and keeps you pressing on but I still find a defensive, in and out style works best.

What's the co-op aspect like? Is the game the same, but you choose whether to play it single or multiplayer, or are the 2 game types seperate?

Should we start a player list? Some of my Destiny buddies have got this and the co-op aspect is what makes that so good.

As soon as I've finished Alien, I'm starting Bloodborne and am genuinely excited!

I did read something about a certain point in the multiplayer game causing people to not be able to progress, so be careful (I didn't read exactly what as there were spoiler alerts).

If it follows the dark souls formula, you would be able to "summon" fellow players at difficult points (usually at the bosses).

I played it a bit longer last night - got to the bridge werewolves but died the first time and stopped at that point. Anybody taken the alternative route from the bridge? I had a look down there - looks like it was a sewer with rats but decided to tackle the werewolves instead.

It is difficult but no worse than demon / dark souls - I found I really got into those after 20-30 hours when you have reached the point where you don't tend to die as soon as you meet something new!

Anyone killed the Blood Starved Beast yet (third boss)? I felt like pulling my hair out last night! The first part is pretty simple but once you take away half its damage its fighting technique changes and it gets a bit mental! I may have to summon a player for help but not sure I want to do this as it feels like I'm giving in!

Stick with and ask us for tips if needed - it's worth it.

Game was pissing me off until I got the hang, best tip I can give is to spend 45 mins doing the farming of the werewolves to level you character a little. Also make sure you purchase Hunter Garb asap from Hunters Dream area, it's only a little coin...
