I loved it – coming from someone who has fallen out with FPS since Bad Company 2.

It will be an unpopular opinion but I kind of hope they keep the number of guns limited and find other ways to pursue character progress. The race to become high level with an over-powered gun is what I have always felt ruined FPS for me because I lose interest far before I get there. I like the idea of the blasters being secondary to power ups and abilities, as these feel more like the game changers for swinging the battle and more in keeping with the feel of Star Wars. I’m surprised by the lack of classes, but I can kind of understand the omission – a BF style medic class wouldn’t have been a good fit for the imperials... I can’t even picture a stormtrooper running around looking out for his squadmates with defibs. I also appreciate being able to move without fear of expert snipers quick-scoping with a 50 cal.

I think the nature of the battles in the films have set up Battlefront to be more of a meat grinder for bullet magnets. You are supposed to be part of a massive faceless army, rather than an elite, deathproof shining star. In that respect I think descriptions of it being a mixture of COD and BF are accurate. I have no problems with it being extremely accessible - we need to accept the fact that this will be huge amongst kids too given the surge in Star Wars material we are about to undergo.

Battlefield can retain its mantle as being one of the best technical shooters, and Battlefront can be about inner-child silliness and playing out your Star Wars fantasies.
For those like me who will maybe play it for 10-20 hours or so a week, it seems perfect. For those who like to sink serious time into a really deep shooter – yeah, maybe there won’t be enough to it – it depends on how much it varies from the beta.

I really enjoyed it, after finding it ran on my machine on ultra helped too!

Main gripe is i forgot how annoying using left shift to run is in FPS games, you get cramp in your pinkie very quickly.

Hoth map as the rebels was mental, we lost both times but got one walker to a quarter health, the long range shots are a bit dubious in the game though, some guys killing me from half a map away, i dont doubt the gun, i doubt the ability to see me and hit a moving target in game that well, but hey ho.

Played all 3 game modes and i enjoyed Hoth the most due to the full 40 players being on, but drop pod was good fun too.

Flying was okay but i hate the fact you have to keep swiping the mouse to move left or right, why you cant fly using the WASD keys i don't know, or just move the mouse left or right and it turns constantly. I realise why its cant do this but its frustrating, as using a controller would negate the mouse\keyboard benefits of the PC. But that's an FPS complaint, not at the game mechanics.

Looking forward to the game proper.

Yep still enjoying it. It's not quite BF so for those expecting the same depth, they will be disappointed, however I think there is still lots of other fun to be had. I also agree it's getting easier to play the rebels now as people cotton on to how to play the game properly. The pickups are also superb but the turrets seem unbalanced. The anti-personnel turret seems quite over-powered where as the anti-vehicle turret is pretty rubbish. Spawn points are also pretty crap so it does still need a bit of balancing\work.

Highlights for me so far are

- Learning to fly so I can at least hold my own. The A wing is superb, took out 3 Tie fighters with it yesterday.
- Playing as Darth Vader and force choking people, I think I managed to take out 7-8 Rebel scum before they finally brought me down.
- Using the AT-AT and AT-ST are brilliant, especially the latter, if you learn how to use it properly. Managed to seriously mess up more rebel scum with it.
- Hoth is brilliant, it's chaotic, loud, fun, just like being the film.

All in all I'm sold and can't wait to try some of the other bigger battles, Endor with AT-ST's and speeder bikes should be very cool.

Started playing it today but not sure. Did seem like fun, but in the multi player games (PS4) I had dreadful lag which meant that as I was moving around I'd regularly find myself jumping back a few seconds which made things a tad difficult. My internet connection is currently measuring almost 40Mbps, so not sure why.

Having played the Beta comprehensively I’m definitely in.

Initially I totally agreed with a lot of people on here saying that the game has a lack of depth and thus longevity, however the more I have played the more the depth I have found so in my view we’ll have to wait and see. However I am more than confident that I will get my monies worth from it.

Its been really interesting seeing play evolve over the full four days. On day one/two Walker Assault certainly seemed unbalanced as it’s the rebels who really need to play the objective and also not shoot an unsparking AT AT. By yesterday the tide had definitely turned, one game last night we had both AT ATs down at the first wave of Y-wings which on Thursday I would have said was impossible.

Can’t wait to release day.
Ok, well the counts for something coming from you Judge.

If you're still playing in a few months time I'll take a look.

Realistically the Rebels are "meant" to lose, they did in the film after all... But once a few players actually start playing as a team, you can massacre the AT-ATs within two "zones". Especially if a couple of people using fighters attack them.

There is way too much spawn killing though, that needs to be fixed for the full game really.

Saying that, the noise is true star wars, it is great! Managed to go 33 for 4 earlier on...

Ive rage quit once as some AT-ST's found ours and just blasted away as you spawned in. Having said that, i wrnt behind enemy lines once, found the spawn/where everyone camped with a protector shield and got a kill streak of 19 going with the mg42 gun and some nades

My Last match last nigh - and therefore I assume my last match of the beta - I was on a winning rebel side. It was a proper nail-biter. One AT-AT went down fairly early and easily before passing the first uplink, and I was surprised how far grenades could be thrown and still damage it.

The second AT-AT was on a sliver of health for the rest of the match but we couldn't get the bombers locked in. It was literally a couple of steps away from overrunning the last uplink in the trenches and when we finally got the kill.

Seemed a suitably epic ending to a really fun beta.

So can anyone explain how the bombing runs worked? At each tier, you have a couple of uplinks, and activating one and defending it until the icon turns completely blue locks in a bombing run. Then the defence counter for that uplink starts over again. But I was finding the Y-wing countdown wouldn't even show up for what seemed like a random amount of time - easily about 1 minute or so, which seems like a bit of an unfair delay - especially if you are sitting on an orbital strike power up, deciding whether to hold onto it for when the shields go down, or use it in the meantime to keep the stormtroopers at bay.

Wouldn't it make more sense that as soon as you defend an uplink for the required time and lock in a run, you immediately see the countdown to when the bombers show up so you can plan your next move? Quit often to me it felt like the bombers just weren't coming. Was I the only one who found this?

Had another crack at it last night, got quickly bored with it, and that was with playing with friends.

The game just doesn't interest me.

I never worked this out myself either. Even after the uplink counter was all blue it seemed random whether the Y-Wings actually turned up. Sometime you'd even get a message pop up saying Y-Wing bombing run locked in and they still wouldn't turn up, very weird. Not sure if I was missing something obvious or whether it was just broken?

Perhaps both uplinks need to be activated?

Is this cross platform or not?

The Beta was still working for me this morning - not sure how long the extension will be but, it'd be nice to get another go this evening.

I don't normally like competitive multiplayer but, couldn't resist having a go at this. Well, it is Star Wars after all. I only played Walker assault but, really enjoyed it. The scale of it and the number of allies and enemies was brilliant. It really felt like you were in the middle of a slightly confusing (to me at least) futuristic space fight.

I also didn't feel like I completely sucked, often getting kills in double figures (which is good for me!!)

I'm pretty sure I'll be picking this one up.

the flying is awful, there is no valid reason why when the game is released you should not be able to switch between mouse /keyboard for foot stuff and a controller for flying.

not sure if you can in the beta, but no reason I can see for it not happening in the actual game.BY accident I found you can in 'shadow of mordor ' although you dont need to in that.

I couldn't use KB and controller concurrently. Plugging in the controller disabled the mouse/kb for me.

Did anyone manage to play with a friend on the beta? I tried to invite a friend through the partner function as you don't have traditional squads in ST:BF (another strange decision!) but for the life of me couldn't get it to work. Did anyone else have any luck or is this not available on the beta, even though it looks like it is?

I managed once, it just added me to their game when it had finished.
