To an extent but the depth in previous Battlefield games came from a few things that mixed up the fps genre a little.

Playing in squads, coordinating and trying different tactics, Battlefront doesn't have squads.

Classes and customisation of your load-out to fit your play style, Battlefront doesn't have these.

Vehicles which you can hop in and out of, with your squad mates in tow. Battlefront doesn't have these, only on rails vehicles or power ups (wtf)

Shooting mechanics that required skill to aim and shoot with each gun handling differently giving you lots to learn and improve. Battlefront doesn't have this, most of the guns are very similar spray and pray affairs.

It just seems like BF-lite, I can understand they want to try to draw in the casual crowd but a Star Wars Battlefield game would already pull big numbers, there really wasn't a need to dumb it down, this was purely a marketing decision. I can see the meeting now. "Battlefield is too hardcore, we need to make the Star Wars version appeal to EVERYBODY, even people who don't like playing games to maximise our revenue!"

I'll still probably get it but not in a rush now, I'm not as excited about it as I should be. I also don't expect to be playing it 6 months to a years time like I have with previous BF games.
I think the ability for peop,e to randomly have vehicles is a godsend, battlefield for me was always spoiled by people who would camp the spawns of the powerful air vehicles. And you would end up with these great pilots who would chalk up huge kd/ratio and stop other enjoying the more powerful vehicles.
watching driftor video last night he was playing with his friend in what effectively is a squad so you can have that element .
watching the gameplay videos there are at least 6 very playable game modes so I would be amazed if I got bored after ten hours.

Personally for what I have seen the game will be more fun for more people more of the time.

Big day today!!! Battlefront & a PS4!! Shame I can only realistically see maybe a couple of hours on the actual game though because of the time I get home from work & then setting up the console, account, mucking around with a new console etc.

I think finally deciding on a PSN name & checking availability is going to take up most of that time hehe

I'd really like to buy this because I enjoyed the beta. On the other hand I don't want to support their DLC politics. Suppose I'll have to wait a year until they sell it bundled with all additional content that should be there from the launch.

There will also be four new game modes, 16 new multiplayer maps, and "over 20 new pieces of galactic tech including weapons, vehicles, and Star Cards for both Rebels and Imperials". You will also receive "two-week early access" to each expansion pack."

DLC policies are a cancer on the gaming industries. It gives so many publishers carte blanche for releasing unfinished games, then charging people to finish the development work on them later.

My copy is sat here in front of me (Xbone), but I've barely scratched the surface of Fallout 4.

Plus I have gym tonight and no chance of getting away from work early, why does life have to be so cruel frown

It was here but they didn't have many.

I originally found the deal on here. Great site if you sign up and set up keyword notifications.

It's taken about 3 hours for the wow it's a Star Wars game to wear off and realise it's a pretty dull FPS.

It's EA. They do this. They also release broken games (like a lot of others do, I must say).

I've really gone off EA, and that is why I doubt I shall be getting this game. It's getting quite expensive buying certain games.

I used to be a big Battlefield fan, until they started releasing targeted ads in games (can't remember the name of that version). Since then, they have really gone downhill.

It's worse than that, they finish games and then surgically remove content to sell as DLC, sometimes on day one.

From what I've heard, and I'm willing to be told I'm wrong, but this game has 4 maps. That is shocking when you consider it's a full priced AAA game, and the season pass is another significant chunk of money still.

Yup it's £40 odd for the 4 map console game and then another £40 for the season pass (4 dlc.)

Fallout season pass dlc (Xbox) is only £25

I'm sure battlefield season pass was nearer £25 but I think my game came with one included?

I planned to buy the basic game but changed my mind after watching the video linked above. The ultimate edition (Game + DLC = the "full game") is £104.99. If you buy them separately you can save a few quid (£90) but lose out on extra content. Very sad if this is the direction the video game industry is headed.

EA wants me to buy an extended demo and unlock the full content over the span of a few months for an extra £40!

This is why I'm not getting it. At least not until like Destiny it comes out with all the DLC's and the original game bundled together. That and whilst I played the beta I didn't enjoy it. I think I have a case of rose tinted glasses but the original Battlefront and Battlefront 2 I remember to be better.

DL44, what a joke! Most overpowered gun since the Dual wield 1887's in MW.

It's a one shot headshot kill, or 2 shot body kill.

Been using it to defend a point and when used with the cool down star card, can easily solo 5/6 people.

Well I was on it for about a good 4 hours yesterday & the general thing I took away was that I was mostly smiling the entire time. It plays really well. One thing that occasionally comes to mind is that it is quite arcadey though unlike Battlefield games. Just with small things like the weapon power ups & the fact you call in vehicles rather than find them waiting for you on the battlefield.

The sounds & music are spot on. The power ups seem more easily available than in the BETA which I quite like. Spent plenty of time in the skies yesterday which I love & I think that helped contribute towards my 1.5 K/D ratio. Snowspeeders fking suck though!

I also found that the heroes aren't as unstoppable as I thought before. I got a power up & immediately chose to play as Boba Fett & got something ridiculous like 13 kill streak over about 5 minutes. But when I came to up against a freshly spawned Luke Skywalker, I stalked him for a few a seconds and then he ran into a squad of about 3 Stormtroopers which he engaged & the second he did I opened fire & got him from behind. He only managed to kill one of the troopers considering he was betting attacked from front & behind. The heroes are really not just tanks that can be ran into combat, you need to still apply strategy with them which I like a lot.

I don't like the fact you can't modify weapons in any way like with like sights, barrels, camo etc & also the visual customisation of your character has a ton left to be desired. Each team has just generic faced humans until you get to like level 40 and higher then you can pick a different species or type of Stormtrooper. The whole thing just feels unbelievably lazy.

I do like it though & I only played two game types so looking forward to seeing what else it has to offer.

Also as a side note, It's the Battelfront PS4 I got & am already loving Playstation a lot more than Xbox One. Not that that's very difficult.

^^^^ This I'm not paying £110 for a game, especially when by all accounts it doesn't have a lot of longevity. First Destiny, now this, what a p*sstake.

Unfortunately millions of other people will which sends out a message to all publishers that it's OK for them to do this. I'm not as desperate to play it as I was so I'll wait a few months till they release the FULL game with all the DLC that they should have for a fraction of the price.
