At least Destiny had some form of VFM, and an RPG/grind type experience. Put over 300 hours in to Vanilla Destiny (currently coming up to 700 now TTK is out). Of course playing with friends pretty much the entire time helped.

I struggled to play this for more than 2 or 3 games.

It will be interesting to see how the DLC plays out for this, and the series going forward, I'm assuming there will be more to capitalise on the movie hype.

DLC policies are a cancer on the gaming industries. It gives so many publishers carte blanche for releasing unfinished games, then charging people to finish the development work on them later.
It is the norm now and short of an organisational miracle, where all the worlds gamers get together and boycott all DLC then there is little you can do about it. I get that you think they remove parts of the game so they can fleece you later but Why shouldn't they get paid for what they do (though I agree they get paid too much.)

Put it this way, when they planned the next instalment of the Star Wars film it was always going to be a new trilogy right?? They knew that from the day they decided to make another film?? Does that mean that we should get to see the next two films for free for the price of the ticket we have bought for episode 8?? Have they ripped us off because they didn't include the tickets for the next 2 films?? I would be surprised if you thought so, so why is that the case for a game??

Even if you include the cost of hardware gaming is still one of the cheapest hobbies out there per hour.

Disney plans to release one new Star Wars movie per year starting in 2015, I'm sure EA doesn't mind that.

£110 per Star Wars fan per year and all they have to do is reskin Battlefield and strip out half of the features as well as the single-player campaign.

Very good except this game has 4 maps, no single player, most of the modes are the same, no discernible progression tree so replay value is limited, all for £40, you then have to pay another £40 to get the rest of the maps and other features. That's not making me pay for the next series in the trilogy, that's like stopping me watching a film halfway through, then telling me if I want to finish watching the rest I need to pay more money.

Exactly.

From what I have read, the game feels unfinished. You are not getting 'extra' as DLC, you are getting the bits which finish the game. Its like Apple, hold back and charge more for what you could have included in the first place.

In the days before online consoles, this couldnt happen and studios were made based on the disks the shipped - complete games every time.

This is why I'm not getting it. At least not until like Destiny it comes out with all the DLC's and the original game bundled together. That and whilst I played the beta I didn't enjoy it. I think I have a case of rose tinted glasses but the original Battlefront and Battlefront 2 I remember to be better.
^^^^ This I'm not paying £110 for a game, especially when by all accounts it doesn't have a lot of longevity. First Destiny, now this, what a p*sstake.

Unfortunately millions of other people will which sends out a message to all publishers that it's OK for them to do this. I'm not as desperate to play it as I was so I'll wait a few months till they release the FULL game with all the DLC that they should have for a fraction of the price.
I am as big a star wars geek as you can get, but i am not buying it either. I cant be done with this belief by the AAA developers that we all want to play along with each other in the great melting pot of online gaming.

9 times out of 10 its griefers, racist screaming children or ADHD sufferers who do nothing but play lall day so us casual gamers get battered and i dont care who you are, dying all the time even after a fair bit of practice just gets old.

I also hate that DLC has now become a way to split games up for more cash. DLC used to be more maps or skins you could get if you fancied, but now its actual proper content that should be part of the game, especially as it comes out less than a week after initial release tells you that, unlike 3 months later, which i dont mind so much.

I will stick to fallout 4 and am getting starcraft 2, legacy of the void at lunchtime. proper single player story driven campaign for the win!

I had a quick go on PC last night (after taking well over an hour to load from the 4 DVDs!).

It looks absolutely beautiful. The graphics and landscapes are breathtaking.

I was surprised by the game itself. I was expecting Battlefield Star Wars, but it plays more like Team Fortress 2.

I traded in black ops 3 for this, for me star wars is far more enjoyable. Im not a fan of star wars and have not played another battlefront. Yes there is only 4 large maps but they are good and big, the one in the woods is probably the best map I've seen on any game.

I do not like how call of duty have made there games run and gun all close quarters, it's nice having a mixture and a choice.

Really enjoying it and looking forward to there other map

I thought it took a while on PS4 with one bluray but it wasn't an hour.
Did you get the darth vader game to play whilst it installed?

if they had one of the better cod game movements with these visuals it would be amazing. Its lots of fun,and downsides on the long term playability are a bit negated by every game seemingly so far to be really close.so lots of fun.You arent getting the game ruined by a dick camping out for score streaks then unleashing overpowered score streaks in an endless procession.
heroes vs villains is really good fun and the fact that everyone gets t o play as a super character helps the fun element ,there's no tts camping the best stuff.
Its a great pick up and play for an hour game ,perfect for most normal people.if you are hardcore gamer and clan player ,it will have limited appeal.

It gave an option to play while it was installing, but I didn't try it.

I was looking forward to it after the beta so just pre-orderd on Origin at full price. Played it for 1/2 hour late Wed night and another hour last night. It looks absolutely stunning and is quite fun, but Christ this much content for £50. Absolute robbery when you look at something like GTAV, Arma III or Project Cars.

I was within 24 hours of launching so I decided Star Wars eye candy wasn't worth £50 of my money now and the inevitable caving into another £50 worth of DLC. So I did my first ever online game return. Thank you EA. You're a bunch of crooks in my eyes and a scourge on gaming, but at least you honoured your promise. Funny thing is, it was 30 seconds from requesting a refund to receiving about 5 emails going from request received to approved and completed. Almost like they are just sticking it on 'auto approve' for this game! Probably not, but that's how it felt.

Anyway, if it goes down to £40-£50 for a complete game (i.e. all DLCs as well), I may jump in again, but as it stands, I'm not bending over for the Star Wars bandwagon for a while yet.

It is really expensive for the whole package but I picked it up from CDKeys for £29 and the season pass is £36 there as well. The main game is now £33 though.

The amount of content Isn't that different to BF4, there is less I admit that, but not much less than the vanilla BF4 game. You are paying for the Star Wars name here and that can't be helped.

Between CD keys and a handy 15% off code I got for Origin after they ballsed up earlier this year the whole lot is gonna cost me about £65.

The premium pack for BF4 is still £40 and that game is 2 years old. I get that it's annoying but it's not new, Fall out 3 had DLC in 2008, Borderlands 2 had a day 1 season pass.

I just don't get why you guys are SO annoyed. Day 1 DLC and EA being a bunch of rip off bds is nothing new.

I did the same, the only game I've paid full price for lately was Tom Clancys Division to get Beta access.

I would still suggest it's worth £30. I've about 6 hours on it so far and expect I'll get a lot more (still only played 3 game modes).

Picked up at the weekend and had little go. However its a bitt naff....

Looks pretty, big maps and lots of players - but you just seem to be putting 50 shots at each player in order to kill them? The shots dont drop, so you can literally square up on somebody and just hold the trigger!!

Give me a hardcore mode, i.e kills in 1 or 2 shots and ill be all over it. Also what about Snipers, im new to the game so only have 3/4 guns at the mo, but I really want something with a scope and some power. Anybody got anything like this yet?

You get these sort of power up weapons that you can unlock. They're one shot weapons which after they're fired have a cooldown time of a few seconds. The first is a charge up rifle that actually's quite fun to use as on full charge it's capable of making an enemy ragdoll into the air from far range & is an instant kill weapon. The second is a like a regular one shot sniper rifle. Same again, it takes a few seconds to use it again but this one isn't a guaranteed one hit kill weapon. But unlike the other weapon you don't need to charge it first.

I think there are 3 or 4 good game modes, there really is little skill ,with it being better to hip fire than ADS,but it looks so good and good fun to be had.
