there seems to be a lot going on there, will frame rates etc be able to keep pace?

I don't like restrictive fields of view on racing games so always change in car to be Third person...would that be possible on these games too???

in cockpit feels claustrophobic...looks epic, don't get me wrong but looks very busy...
With other DICE games you can switch between in cockpit and third person, with most people using third person to locate enemies and then switching to first person to shoot them down. It works fine.

I read an article from one of the devs the other day and she stated the (vehicle) control system will be different to anything before it (meaning BF I suspect). There are also a number of vehicles you won't be able to pilot. That being said, the one's we're all bothered about can be. Mostly looking forward to the Snowspeeder on whichever ice planet they're using as the battleground.
40 players sounds promising too!

The pricing for this still seems quite keen, especially given what you'll actually get. I'm hoping the competition on pricing will warm up as launch gets closer, driving down the cost.

I was so shockingly bad at BF4s controls that anything else would be better, can't be worse.

In BF3 I could fly a chopper well, circle strafe, I even flew down tunnels a few times for the hell of it..

In BF4 I can pretty much get the thing in the general direction of where I want to go. Tanks irritate me with the "look and drive" approach. In BF3 I could drive a tank past a target, wind around something and still get a hit.

Goodness only knows just how different controls can be from everything before....

There were options in BF4 to switch back to BF3 controls. Did that and it was all good again.

This looks great but i'll not be buying it on launch day due to past experience with Dice/EA games. I'll wait and see how badly it's bugged first.

I think I will wait too, not becuase of the awful launches, but also to see whether the amount of content provided is worth it. EA have an awful habit of cutting back on stuff and then releasing it as DLC. Space Battles will no doubt be one of them...

Fallout 4 and MGS V will keep me very busy over the next few months, so I won't be too bummed if it's ste.

To be fair, I only used to play the single player in Battlefield when the internet went down.

With Fallout coming, that is my offline game sorted....

They have a point, I played the sh!t out of previous EA/DICE games and barely touched the single player mode. Many others I know are the same.

Makes sense. Most only played it for the trophies/unlocks. Should mean more focus on the multiplayer element. a single player vs bots like 2142 or even CO OP vs bots would be a neat addition.

Plus a normal BC game can have any old bollix as a,story line,to work a story into SW:BF as well as the Star Wars films and books would be a nightmare. SW obsessives would moan it wasn't "canon" or something.
Leave it out as no one plays it,especially if their stats show that is the caseto date.
Then again, some might WANT to play a SW story now they have the possibility,as it's Star Wars.

Yup same here. Shame though as the original call of duty games had really good single player games.

Is the issue that the battlefield single player modes were so crap ?

I always play through the single player first. I do enjoy a story mode, if they do this with multiplayer like Halo then great. But if it's just a online game with little story thats going to be a big let down for me

I liked titanfall but it never kept me going back when other games came along.

^This^

Offline I do RTS games, in fact the last solo effort FPS I did was MW3 Survival Mode.

Saying that the new MGS game looks like a perfect solo play game

The problem with it being Multiplayer only, isnt so much the fact that it would be nice to have a good single player campaign, its the start of companies openly admitting that in their view, single player is going the way of the dodo.

The days of Mass Effect, Command and conquer and even batman arkham knight (last in that series) is seeing the death of involving, high quality single player efforts.

With the rich back sotry of star wars, using this engine to create a high quality story based campaign with rebels v empire (not using the main hero's for once) would be very well received.

Unfortunately its going to end up like titanfall and Destiny (though i realise destiny's new expansion may help the issues of grinding repetition with this) after a couple of months, folk will start to drop the game as they get bored.

New maps and some trophies only keep the multi players happy for so long.

It was like Battlefield 2142, the fact it had no single player whatsoever and X-wing Vs Tioe fighter. The sales dropped a LOT over previous games that had story based campaigns, as multiplayer, apart from a few tweaks every now and then that changes the game, are all much of a muchness and as COD proves, apart from the year on the box, they could all be identical.

Battlefield bad company 2, had a great little story that was fun and involving, as well as a great multiplayer. You get the feeling this is EA and Dice going for a quick few maps, high quality graphics and the purse of DLC to play as Chewie make money back on week one pre-orders and never touch it again.

I remember the days of star wars games that took weeks to finish....frown

Maybe i am biased as i dont like competetive mulitplayer scene, too many tts not playing the games but out to spoil folks fun, but i cant help but think the death of good stories in video games is just going to turn it all into generic deathmatches with different colour skin on.

Not sure about that, I just think there are different games - some suit online multiplay - such as Battlefield, others single player only - such as Fallout/Watchdogs
