It was like Battlefield 2142, the fact it had no single player whatsoever and X-wing Vs Tioe fighter. The sales dropped a LOT over previous games that had story based campaigns, as multiplayer, apart from a few tweaks every now and then that changes the game, are all much of a muchness and as COD proves, apart from the year on the box, they could all be identical.

1942 or BF2 never had Sp either IIRC yet still get raved about even now amongst the hardcore BF fans. One thing the New BF's lack is the ingame commander with destroyable assets. Why it was taken out i will never know. BF2142 had the most balanced class, ranking and leaderboard system to date (my opinion of course) Looking back on it now, SP would only be played through once at best just to get any weapon unlocks etc. I think a lot of people missed out on what a great game it was "because lazers and walkers etc"

Battlefield bad company 2, had a great little story that was fun and involving, as well as a great multiplayer. You get the feeling this is EA and Dice going for a quick few maps, high quality graphics and the purse of DLC to play as Chewie make money back on week one pre-orders and never touch it again.

BFBC2 was ok for a while but quickly got tiresome as the maps were very linear and the rush on most maps was unbalanced. The SP element was ok but didn't draw me back in to play it after running through it for the completion trophy. Good for non penalty TK's though if your team CBA to play objective/Trolling etc.
Responses in bold. Yes i miss 2142!

If there was any doubt my mind before then there isn't now!

This looks like a colossal disappointment from what I'm seeing.

I'm really torn on this. I wanted to be excited but watching the gameplay makes me think, Meh. The Beta is out in a couple of weeks so I'll probably give that a go.

I've started getting back into BF4 so may cancel my pre-order and see what people think before biting the bullet.

I am not sure it will be great but the bottom line is that it is star wars and I am expecting it will have all the "proper" sound effects. Sooooo I will keep my pre-order.

Without getting too technical about it, it looks very much like a casual gamers game, like you say a bit of "fun".

Which is fine of course but I like a bit more depth to my gameplay personally.

I can't recommend Game, I pre-ordered the latest Destiny game months in advance and it only arrived at midday on release day - after my friends (some of whom had received it 3 days earlier) had already been playing it for hours.

Amazon have it available to pre-order. In the past I have used shop-to and not had any issues.

All very True, i did love BF2, some great maps and a good community, with players who actually played their role instead of headless armed chickens impressions.

I bought the Phantom pain the other day but haven't played it yet and after chatting to a mate i feel i may have made a mistake. Now tempted to trade it in with batman to get Forza 6 with a £5 off at Game for trading in 2 games against it.

I generally displike online shooters simply because you just get tts trolling and folk screaming on chat. If you can clan lobbies and have just mates in a 'room' then it would be ace. Actually playing the game, not just scalping for bonuses\unlocks.

I am also crap at hardcore online FPS boxedin

But i am a massive star wars Fanboy.......

Do you really think you'll be able to play it tonight? I'm betting servers wont be able to cope.

Ah yes forgot about that, will valiantly try though. Most people tend to drop off by 11pm anyway so gives me an hour or so before bedtime (I bet I'll still be on it gone 1am and be tired tomorrow)

I know you can download it on a PC before it goes live but I'm still surprised there's a global release at the same time. Perhaps that's what the beta testing is all about?

I tried downloading the remotely from the PSN store. I searched for 'Battlefront' but it didn't show up. It turns out that you have to use the search term 'Battlefront beta' for it to show up in the app.

HTH for anyone trying to initiate the download remotely.
