To add my 2cents:

I feel a lot of people were disappointed because they hyped the game up themselves, and were disappointed when it did not deliver to their expectations.

If you watch Sean Murray in the Q & A videos, I honestly feel that he doesn't fully grasp what a person is asking when given a question and that maybe someone else could have been better suited to hosting these videos. I watched the majority of videos a few times and understood how people could read his comments a different way, and thus generate hype. I have not seen a single video where SM has outright lied about a feature in the game, more just a response could be read one way or another. (I wait to be corrected)

Personally, I'm really enjoying this game, but as soon as I played it I knew there would be some upset people out there with the game. what stands out for me is that Im the first (and mostly only) person who will visit this planet, see that creature, visit that feature etc. Even the developers of the game are not aware that this exists. The pace of the game is quite relaxing too, apart form the space battles its plays at a pace I enjoy. The GUI is very pleasant and moves around in a very nice way.

The lack of help (holding your hand) is creating a very helpfull community too. Im a member of a facebook group for this and people are constantly posting tips and their discoveries. the other side of the coin here, im also a member of a group for 'the division' this is full of people moaning about other players of the game, and the game in general, its a complete reverse.

I agree this game is not perfect, but what game is?

Is this game unique? no, but what game is?

Is this game for everyone? no, but what game is?

Each to their own.

And endless rehashes of Call of Duty are?
No of course not. My whole post was worded badly, I just meant I saw that implied in some of the talk (not here), when it was clear to a lot of us what it was all along, hence why I thought it should be cheaper.
Fair enough, but addressing the subject of price directly, if you're talking about the RRP for the PS4 version then they won't get much leeway there as the price of any console game includes a bit to go back to the console manufacturer. Consoles are sold at a loss, at least for the first couple of years or so, the manufacturer recoups the loss through putting their "tax" on games sales for that console, which is a lot to do with why console games are more expensive than the PC version of the same game, usually.

In real terms, games have become much cheaper. I remember paying almost £40 for the original Tomb Raider on the PS1, and Street Fighter 2 was close to £50, IIRC. That was 20 years ago!

Maybe so, certainly felt slower though but perhaps that was because of the cockpit. I am pretty sure that when into the atmosphere of the planets I was seeing a slower speed on the cockpit (with both crafts having the same thrust engine). I'll have to experiment.

I would say for sure though having more slots on your ship, meaning you can hold more valuable resources, makes you a bigger target for pirates.
Possible that your previous ship had upgraded boosters etc? You can't transfer upgrades remember so you new ship could well have been slower due to that
Some ships are slower and turn slower too. I 'found' a ship on planet I wanted and although it had more slots than my last neither my current ship or the new one had any form of engine upgrades. Flying boosted in atmo the new ship did end up slower by about 15/20units. It was also very noticeably slower to turn when in space trying to stick to pirates.
Cheers for that. I upgrade from the ship you started with so I didn't have any special boosters or anything. I'll have to do a comparison with the next ship I get and see what sort of different there is. I too thought it was around 20 units difference.

I paid £65 for Virtua Racing on my Mega Drive (that's about £116 adjusted for inflation now), even NBA Jam was £45!

The 'too expensive' thing is a moot point considering this is one of the best selling PS4 games of all time. Clearly it wasn't overpriced, or people wouldn't have purchased it.

If they can generate some goodwill by supporting this for sometime and adding new features (it seems they are planning to do so) I think a fleshed out sequel will be a sure thing.

Re the Atlas Pass, I have a quest line from a monolith with an atlas interface and I now have a path for me to warp along on the galactic map to an anomaly where I think I can find this.

The planet is about 5 warps along a path.

That's exactly where I am dude. No work tomorrow so I'm feeling a late night session to get those Warp Drive cells and upgrades.

Just patched my game via Steam. It's still stuttering, but not half as bad as it was. Only mildly annoying now. smile

Yup been running on the experimental branch for a while, it is a lot better!

It has taken me from a average 35 fps to a steady 60+, it has eliminated all of the glitches i personally had (such as a major framerate crash after a few hours or large area search of a single planet).

the only issue i have noticed is some of the tool tips have disappeared and the intro screen is a little stuttery (which is a known issue).

I gave up trying to find the last life-form (I think it was a bird but they're almost impossible to scan) on my latest planet so I moved on.

Boy, was I lucky.

Sentinals who just leave me alone, a nice atmosphere, no life or creatures detected however there are huge Emeri balls or whatever it's called, and plenty of Plutonium for repeated take offs

I'm just mining as much as I can, 250 pieces = 65k Units so good money.

Played for about an hour last night on PC after the patch installed. Seems better/smoother but it still crashed hard after about an hour - screen goes black and monitor says "no signal detected, entering power saving mode".

No other game seems to do this, certainly not Mirror's Edge Catalyst or Elite Dangerous so I guess it's a NMS problem, I hoped the patch would fix it but no frown
