I don't know anything about how NMS works... But how is that possible? Unless it starts everyone in the same region?
If 10,000 players have been playing constantly without a break since the game came out, discovering 5 new planets per hour each, there will have been 28,800,000 planets discovered so far.
Out of 18,000,000,000,000,000,000
The chance of any planet you find being a pre-discovered one is 0.00000000016%
You'd win the lottery about 100 times before finding a pre-discovered planet
I came across a grave marker which wasn't own which I took to mean somebody else had been there before me.If 10,000 players have been playing constantly without a break since the game came out, discovering 5 new planets per hour each, there will have been 28,800,000 planets discovered so far.

This was actually a system someone had named and had a "discovered by" underneath. I took that to mean I wouldn't make any money by exploring so buggered off.
I should have tried to arrange meeting and made a fortune on youtube instead!
Still worth checking out the planets, I've found one system that was already discovered and found lots of useful resources, whoever had discovered it hadn't bothered renaming any planets and it wouldn't let me do it.I should have tried to arrange meeting and made a fortune on youtube instead!
Equally on one of my systems 'Emeril Plentius' I hadn't been to one of the planets, warped off elsewhere, came back a couple of days later and someone else had discovered and renamed it.

You can't rename entities which have been named already.Equally on one of my systems 'Emeril Plentius' I hadn't been to one of the planets, warped off elsewhere, came back a couple of days later and someone else had discovered and renamed it.
But you can rename other entities in someone else named system, if they haven't named them already .
Tried out that live stream feature for youtube and PS4 last night which seemed to work okay. Probably the best star system I have been to visually.

Strangest creature to date, it bounces.
Also got a great little scam on my home planet's space station, as craft land I buy Dynamic Resonators for 26k, once I have filled my exosuit (about 15 minutes) pop up the stairs and sell them for 53k, a quick 27k profit, which on 30 free slots is a kwik 800k, seeing 'sell 30 for 1,600,000' looks very satisfying

Makes you wonder if the game is even as big as they said it is.....
Unlikely doesn't mean impossible.Winning the lottery 100 times... Is approximately as likely as running into a planet (out of 18,000,000,000,000,000,000) which has already been discovered by one of 10,000 active players.
0.00000000016% chance of it happening.
And it has happened to at least 4 people on this thread alone!
Although it could be explained by everyone's spawn point being relatively close together, rather than random.

Didn't they say that's the amount of planets in the universe?
From every video I've seen everyone spawns in the euclid(sp) galaxy first of all so it's no surprise that people are finding other people's discoveries as only the planets in euclid galaxy are being discovered until the atlas quest?
Anyway I thought this was st and the lies and hype from Hello games took thr biscuit so i managed to trade in for 39.60 so lost 40p of my purchase price.

Played for another couple of hours today.
FINALLY got an Atlas Pass v1.
I got this by travelling to the "blue" icons (Atlas Stations?) on the Galactic map. After a couple of warps I met a "space anomaly" and met a Frog looking thing that gave me an Atlas Pass!
So that's good. I'm still enjoying exploring. I now find myself zipping between planets now I have mined the Emril earlier.
I will generally land at 2 or 3 stations, and maybe 3 or 4 times on random locations around the planet to hunt creatures on the discovery thingy, I will stay if I need to hunt specific elements other than that I just explore
Had a few wow moments today alone - When I found the space anomaly, was genuinely cool - and found this really cute bouncing sunflower looking guy. I named him Marcus, fed him Iron and he was my friend.

I actually quite enjoy trolling with my system names. So if someone comes along behind me depending on how I felt at the time they either get a super accurate name (I named one "Emeril System" as one of the planets was not only covered in the stuff but was also buying at 5% over) or I go the other direction...
The last system I was in I named "OMG...AMAZING"
If someone rushes to warp there after seeing it named thus they will find the planet's are very accurately named..
Kinda Dull
Even More Dull
Inferno Planet
Radiation Ball
Colder than your Ex
Moon of Gold and Murrine (Ok, this one was a little help)
