I mean people have forgotten about the issues of Star Citizen due to this
Did you know the designer of NMS has left to join the Star Citizen project? - http://gadgets.ndtv.com/games/news/no-mans-sky-des...ajprice said:

Bloody hell, when the promo video show the starfield start is jerky you know you have problems. Will have to tell my 13 year old about the update. He moaned about getting the game ASAP and we relented for his birthday in October. Within a week he had swapped to a new "broken" ship with no resources to fix it and 40 minutes walk to the nearest useful resource. It's been in the cupboard since......I think he was going to delete his current game and start again LOL.

That's the part I like most of the game, survival mode is just brutal. If the rumors were true and this was how it was supposed to be but dropped after play testing, I can see why. I know what I'm supposed to be doing yet have died twice before making it to my crashed ship.r-kid said:

what is the difference?I'm tempted to give Survival a go tonight.

Less resources, more hazards in a nutshell. e.g. hazard protection isn't as strong, mining laser depletes faster & attacks from creatures hurt rather than being an annoyance. All those annoying hazard protection/life support low (75%) messages are now a godsend, they make sense they are there.I'm tempted to give Survival a go tonight.
Then there's the fact that nearly everything you do reduces life support, running & jetpack reduce it faster (2x & 3x) than walking.
Basically you need to plan how & what you are going to do to head out from your shelter.

So you still respawn and can go back to your 'grave' point to pick up what you collected before? I haven't played the update yet, but my take on a survival mode would have been 'when you're dead you're dead', no respawn, end of game. Then there's the fact that nearly everything you do reduces life support, running & jetpack reduce it faster (2x & 3x) than walking.

No grave markers that I've seen on survival, well on foot anyway, makes it even harder that if you have collected those resources then died they are gone for good if you walk past them again (plants/plutonium/etc). if they were in your suit rather than ship that is.The update gave me another couple of hours out of this but that's probably about it. I bought a freighter and now I've just got to fill it with stuff and increase its size, kind of like what I did with my ship and exosuit.
I tried survival mode which was quite compelling until I worked out that as long as everything is transferred to the ship then it doesn't matter how many times I die. After about 22 re-generations I had everything I needed in my ship and off I went. I suppose now I need to save up and buy a freighter?

I was going to ask if anyone was still playing? The recent updates seem to be bringing it closer to the game that was originally promised and it's cheap now so I was thinking about giving it a go.
It is a quirky game and its defienetely not for everyone.basically its about surviving in different environments. you gather materials in order to improve your situation. buy bigger ships (which hold more materials) craft a base, trade on space stations and fly around some stunning (and also deadly) planets.
If you like the idea of discovery and exploration while feeling absoulutely alone then yeah you might like it. If you wanna go around blowing stuff up and mindlessly killing aliens, then look for something else.
Things i like about it:
every planet is unique and no one else has ever seen it!
space trading - finding where sells low and where buys high and getting stuff there to sell it.
exploration
laser beams
things i disklike it:
having to recharge your gun, ship, suit every 5 minutes
moving around is sometimes slow, flying in atmoshere should be faster
sentinals and pirates - everyone in out to ruin your day
constantly running out of storage space and having to sell materials frequently (until i can buy a bigger ship)

Is anyone still playing? this is my no.1 game at the moment, The updates have really made this game what it should have been.
Im playing Survival and absolutely loving it!
I still play occasionally, but I need a solid 2 or 3 hours at least and don't often get that anymore, hence why I stick to Project Cars or Rocket League lol.Pathfinder update out. we now have buggies and a few other things.

I'm a big fan of that type of game, I've played Minecraft on and off for years. I'd stayed away from this because of all the problems it had at launch but if they're genuinely improving it with the updates I'm guessing it's worth £13 or whatever it is on PSN just now.
I had a bug cause a rage quit last night.
I was in a station buying loads of a certain Item i know i can sell at double the price in another system, got around 50 of these items, warped to next system and the game crashed. - turned it off, went to bed.
There are bugs and glitches, but find me a modern game without them?!
For £15 odd quid I would say yes its worth it.
